Chapter 158 — Part 2

Physalis, who was in her mid-twenties, wore armor over her unusually developed muscles, with even more silver colored armored clothing on top, and she turned toward Eliza who was covering Edward with her shield, and continuously pulled the trigger of her composite gun.

The railgun’s specialized warhead accelerated from within the gun, and collided with Eliza’s shield at around the same level as her chest area, with a speed twenty times faster than the speed of sound.

With micron-sized magic letters engraved on the inside of the gun barrel in order to raise its effectiveness and power against spirit creatures, the railgun is clearly excessively lethal and too powerful to be used on a human body.

However, Dran’s Extra Force and other support magic that was applied to Eliza protected her against the 120 warheads that hit her in the span of a single second, and the shattered warheads drifted to the sides around her.

Realizing that the railgun was rendered ineffective, Physalis immediately changed to a different weapon. She switched out her railgun for something else that was stored inside the subspace storage developed by the Celestial Beings.

She moved so quickly, if one were to look at it from the side, they still would doubt their own eyes and wonder when her weapon had changed. Instead of the composite gun, the weapon that Physalis held in her hand now was a bladeless, cylindrical handle.

Physalis’ superpower was the Greed King, which, as the name implies, greedily feeds on not only magic power, chi, and spirit power, but even the dark matter that rains down from space as well, and transforms the power for herself.

If she wanted to, she could disassemble the building materials of the facility or even take in the surrounding earth to gain an inexhaustible supply of power, but since they were given orders not to damage the facility, she would not go that far.

Using the transformed power taken by her Greed King, a pitch black blade grew out from the cylinder Physalis held in her right hand.

In addition to this black blade, Physalis’ body was constantly being infused with a large amount of transformed energy, boosting her physical capabilities by double or tenfold.

No one other than Physalis had manifested this ability, and it couldn’t be analyzed either. If it could have been transferred over to all the other surviving Celestial Beings, then maybe the decline of the species could have been stopped, or so it had been lamented.

The benefits of the armored clothing and the Greed King exponentially raised the physical capabilities of the artificial superhuman Physalis.

If it was just in pure numerical values, then it was within a realm that Christina could surpass even without the aid of Dreadnought.

Eliza, even having received Dran’s support magic, could not react fast enough, and instead it was Yao’s automatically deploying defensive talisman that reacted first.

The black blade that was about to cut off Eliza’s head, and the talisman that jumped out from behind her collided, and although they scattered black sparks as they fought, the talisman was unable to withstand the Greed King Blade, and was sent flying away with great force.

Knowing just how much power was contained inside his talisman, Yao’s eyes widened in surprise from it getting destroyed, but Eliza understood the situation, and slammed the mace in her right hand into Physalis’ head without holding back.

The mace could have shattered Physalis even if she were made of iron, but Physalis easily caught it with the back of her left hand.

The mace, which should have easily been able to shatter the armor of a defensive weapon, did not work on Physalis at all, and only caused her left arm to wobble slightly.

Both Eliza and Edward’s eyes widened in surprise, and in order to try to prevent Physalis from drawing her second longsword, Edward stretched out his whip while Yao prepared his talisman.

Physalis’ attack was overwhelmingly faster than them, and lasted less than a fraction of a second. It seemed that there was nothing that could stop the two longswords from severing Eliza’s head from her body.

However, Diadora, who had not even batted an eyelid at the appearance of the artificial superhumans, in the same way she had cut through the Perfect World, stretched her rose vines with godly speed and wrapped them around Physalis’ right arm to stop her movement.

Physalis was literally stronger than a thousand men, but the moment her right arm was entangled by the thorns, the power generated by her Greed King and the Leyline generator built into her armored suit dropped drastically, and she was unable to tear the thorns apart.

「Hmm, you’re stronger than I thought. But not so much that I can’t suck you up」

Diadora said those words with an unexpected degree of admiration, as she glanced once at Physalis.

She was probably thinking that this was another annoying group to deal with, but they were much better opponents than the scrap iron they had been fighting up until now.

Since the amount of power that is being sucked out of her was greater than the power she was generating, Physalis indifferently assessed that she was at an overwhelming disadvantage, calculated the time it would take until she would become incapacitated, and then selected the next action she should take.

In her left hand, Physalis held a Heat Blade, which was capable of burning off its target with the heat of its blade.

It was a sword hot enough to cut at least halfway through a dragon’s scales, as if it were made of butter.

Physalis sent Eliza flying, and then closed in on Diadora.

Having received the bodily hit from Physalis, Eliza crashed into the wall with fierce momentum, but thanks to the protection of magic, no matter how big of an impact, it wouldn’t do more than shake up her insides a bit.

Diadora saw Physalis stepping toward her with supersonic speed, but she did not show any sign of panic.

The Heat Blade was now several thousands of degrees hotter than before, but as soon as new Black Rose thorns wrapped around the sword, the heat was stolen from the blade, and forced it to cool down back to its preheated state.

「In the end, you are only stronger than my first expectation. There is no need to panic. Just stay there and become a silent statue.」

Running through her Heat Blade, the thorns crossed over Physalis’ left arm and over her upper body, and then captured her right arm as well, binding her whole body tightly.

With Diadora sucking up every last drop of power, Physalis was sucked out of not only her armored suit and her Greed King, but even her very life force itself was taken, and her consciousness rapidly sank into a deep and dark abyss.

In addition to Physalis herself losing consciousness, the armored suit she was wearing was also sucked of energy, causing it to stop functioning, so the armored suit itself also became another restraint on her.

Although the artificial superhumans should have been a fearsome enemy to a majority of the living beings inhabiting this planet, Diadora, who had just taken care of one of them without even taking a single step, turned her black eyes to the listlessly remaining three enemies.
