Chapter 191
After we finished greeting the representatives of each of the religious organizations that follow the various gods depicted in legends, and the advancement of the inauguration went on without a hitch, we had the guests from Ente Forest and the other regions head toward the VIP lodgings that we had prepared for them.
We returned to the newly finished mansion to catch our breath and to talk about things that we couldn’t say in public.
Having successfully completed her first job as the lord of Bern Village, the tremendous weight and pressure Christina had been carrying on her shoulders finally went away, and she laid down on her back on the bed in her private room.
We should have chided her for being so sloppy, but we decided to let it slide for today.
Besides, the only ones here in this room were me, Selina, Diadora, Dramina, Lynette, Christina herself, and Nyx and Dreadnought.
With this group of people, it’s safe to talk about Christina’s background, or even the details of our true identities.
「Ah, I was so nervous. I’m not used to it, but it’s something that I’ll have to keep on doing from now on」
「What, if you know that, then shouldn’t you be a little more careful? You never know who might be watching you」
Christina rolled over once and raised herself back up, releasing her tied up hair and taking up a more relaxed posture.
The one who threw those words at her without reservation was her familiar, the child of the Phoenix, Nyx.

「There’s no need to worry about that. It’s needless to say that there isn’t any human that exists who can slip past Dran’s eyes and ears to eavesdrop on us. But that doesn’t mean we won’t have any problems, though」
「Oh, you mean the gods and the spirits of the World Tree walking around over there. Honestly, I’m too surprised to be surprised. I have no idea what’s going on, to the point that I feel numb about it all」
From his favorite perch, Nyx said this with a somewhat distant look in his eyes. It’s a look I often see in people who find out my true identity and come into contact with those related to me.
Selina, who was standing next to me, let out a somewhat suspicious smile, as if she was laughing that she’d gained another comrade. I wonder, why would she smile like that?
「Diadora, what could Selina’s smile mean? I sometimes see it, but I’m still trying to figure out the details. I still don’t know her true intentions behind that smile」
Diadora, who had left behind Ente and the others from the forest to join us, looked a little exasperated. Fumu, based on the face she made, it seems Selina’s reaction is something that is really easy to understand, for everyone except me.
「You’re a bit thick-headed sometimes, aren’t you? Dran, there’s nothing to say. When Selina and I found out that the name of your soul was Dragon, we were in a similar state as Nyx.
The scale of your story was too large, and the realization wouldn’t fully sink in. That, and the shock was too much to take in for my mind and logic, and I was unable to react at all.
From Nyx’s point of view, up until just a few days ago, you were just his master’s friend, but now your true identity was this dragon that’s more powerful and terrifying than all the gods in this world. Wouldn’t you feel lost?」
「Fumu, you should have said that sooner. If you’re Christina’s familiar, then the difference between being fast or slow should be important to you」
「Well, if I had known about it sooner, I might have gotten used to it by now. And really, with the fact that the gods can descend to earth so easily, and so quickly, it’s true that it would be better if we get used to it sooner」
Diadora glanced at me with a somewhat suspicious light in her eyes toward me. Fumu, so she was suspicious of me because she thinks I invited the gods here.
She got me there, she unfortunately doubts me greatly, but it’s true that I am pretty much the only one capable of doing this.
「Diadora, please don’t look at me like that. In regards to all of them being here, I am innocent. It’s not like I invited them here」
The suspicion in Diadora’s eyes wasn’t all that big to begin with, and it seems the flames of her doubt went out when she heard my remarks.
Just as I was thinking that was a relief, Lynette, who was perched beside Diadora like a baby bird, suggested a new opinion.
「But it is a situation you predicted. Many of the gods and their followers, who helped in the fight against the goblins, which I wasn’t a part of, have now shown up again.
But considering the great influence Master Dran has over these gods, in the future, there is a high possibility that he will be contacted more by the gods than by the nobles of this kingdom. No, that is surely to happen.
If we don’t put a stop to this, the number of divine beings in Bern Village will only continue to increase further.
It may be fine now, but there will be practical issues later, such as the influence over each religious church, each believer, and all the family registers. I don’t think it’s such a good idea to create forged family registers from the beginning of managing this territory…」
Fumu, since there’s not a whole lot of them right now, I can look away from it, but as their numbers increase, it will become a problem I can no longer ignore. No, it’s definitely not a problem that I can solve by pretending I don’t see it, but…
「Basically, each religious organization is its own society, independent from the state. They should handle issues like family registers on their side, so it shouldn’t be too much of a burden on us.
On the other hand, it’s possible that the oracles will issue too many registers, and the important people of the religions will pay too much attention to Bern Village. It’s possible they won’t be able to dismiss us because they see us as too sacred, so I guess I will have no choice but to ask them to return to the heavens」

What’s more, some of them didn’t want to stay for just a day or two, a few of them seemed ready to stay in Bern for much longer.
If it was just for a short visit, it wouldn’t be a problem for the gods to stay in Bern Village, but I can’t help but think that me thinking that it was okay was because those gods had somewhat poisoned my way of thinking.
「I feel that Master Dran’s modest approach is truly noble to me, but I think Master Dran should bow his head to the gods this time.
If he does, then the lower ranking gods, excluding Mairahl and Aldeath, would come grovelling at your feet, crying in fear that they’ve misbehaved」
How troublesome, I can’t find any words to deny Lynette’s concerns. Fumu, is this more of a stalemate than I thought?
No, not yet. It’s too soon to give up. If telling them directly will be a problem, then I might be able to improve the situation if I could gently hammer them down through a different god who can understand my feelings…
「Pointed out once again, I’m unexpectedly in a troublesome pinch. I was reminded of my naivety and lack of awareness for the current situation. In this case, the best solution is to rely on Mairahl.
It’s a bit shameful to rely on others for help so much, but if I were to take direct action, I wonder how far things would go」
I imagined how much oil I would end up adding to the fire if I were to get directly involved, and everyone in the room either smiled or looked troubled, unable to find the words to respond.
