Chapter 101: Arch Chimera ②
Once again, a distance was created between us and the Arch Chimera, and we kept each other in check. It seems to have also understood that our party can recover by increasing the distance.
Then I sensed that the Arch Chimera’s goat head had used some kind of magic. Kinu sensed it as well, and even though she immediately fired a flame lance, it was blocked by a barrier.
≪This guy is really tough… He put up a barrier again.≫
≪Nn. Maybe that goat-san is in charge of the defense.≫
Among our members, Drake’s Dragon Breath has the highest firepower. With the firepower that blew the magic airship into smithereens, even an Arch Chimera would suffer considerable damage.
≪Drake, do you think you can hit it with your breath?≫
≪It would probably be tight. Its agility seems to be high and its movements aren’t as simple as an airship, so… I think I can hit it if I coordinate together with you and Shinku-neesan, but the chances of you two getting caught in the attack is also higher.≫
≪I see. Also, I have been appraising it in intervals. The natural recovery speed of the Arch Chimera’s HP and MP is also extraordinary. Even after fighting for so long, it’s only decreased by about 20%.≫
≪Seriously? What are we going to do?≫Drake.
≪Let’s launch a high firepower attacks together. However, Kinu will stick to long-range magic in consideration of safety measures. Let’s see how much damage we can deal. Everyone buff up, and fire all at once. Let’s go!≫
≪≪≪≪Roger!≫≫≫≫
Shinku joined the attack this time instead of being in the tank role.
Everyone reapplied their buffs and closed the distance while firing magic and arrows from a distance. As expected, a certain amount of the damage was absorbed by the barrier, and the Arch Chimera also took evasive actions, but we three vanguards were already lying in wait.
First, Drake circulated mana through Red Ogre’s Iron Rod and smashed his weapon into the goat head. As the Arch Chimera flinched backwards, Skinku used [Rock Bullet] to rain down rocks from the sky continuously while jumping up and slashing open the chest part with a full swing of her Deformed Giant Axe.
We confirmed that the Arch Chimera’s barrier had disappeared.
Next, I circulated mana through Shiranuemaru and unleashed consecutive attacks at the Lion head and body to deal damage, but the Arch Chimera discharged an aura of lightning wrapping around its body, dealing wide area damage to all 3 of us.
Although we immediately jumped back, Shinku and Drake were paralyzed. All three of us took a lot of damage.
In addition, the Arch Chimera started pursuing Drake when his HP was already reduced to about half. Kinu immediately healed Shinku’s status abnormality with [Cure], and healed Drake’s HP with [Healing].
During that time, I managed to deal some damage so that the enmity would be directed at me, but the Goat head used magic and the barrier was put up again, so I couldn’t do enough damage to pull the Arch Chimera’s enmity.
Having recovered from the paralyzed status ailment, Shinku jumped in front of Drake and was able to defend with her shield in time, but Shinku HP was also gradually reducing.
≪Retreat!≫
Kinu’s [Cure] restored Drake’s paralyzed status and he jumped back. I somehow managed to rip off the enmity directed towards Shinku, and at the instant when the attack was directed towards me, Shinku also retreated to the back.
Waiting for an opening in the opponent’s attack, I jumped back as well.
Appraising the Arch Chimera revealed that there was still half of both HP and MP remaining. Moreover, the speed of its natural recovery was ridiculously fast. Considering our MP consumption, it seems quite difficult to defeat it.
However, I was really happy to fight such a strong enemy as a boss. To be honest, no enemy has ever forced me into a hard fight. If we can defeat this guy stably, it will also be an indicator that our fighting capabilities have increased.
Also, I don’t know exactly how strong the demons are, but it’s better to assume that they’re stronger than the Arch Chimera.
≪The enemy’s HP is still about half. Besides, the combat situation is not stable… Should we withdraw for now?≫
≪Nn. I think it’s a good idea to take safety measures.≫
≪Let’s go back to Foret Noir and think of a strategy. We still have time. Due to the function of the dungeon, it should be possible for us to raise our levels just by clearing the floors until the Lich again and again. Having everyone become stronger and wanting to get revenge will increase our motivation.≫
≪In that case, shall we return to Foret Noir using the teleport function?≫Shinku.
≪Yes. I will go last as the rearguard. You four teleport back first.≫
After Kinu activated [Healing] several times to restore my HP, the four of them teleported back.
「Sorry, but we’ll be retreating this time. We’ll definitely come back stronger… Ready your head, cause I’ll be back to take it.」
Perhaps in response to my words, the Lion head closed its eyes slightly and its buttocks touched the ground. All three heads were staring at me, but there was no sign of movement.
No intention of pursuing, huh…
Seeing the majestic appearance of the Arch Chimera, I sensed its bottomless power and intelligence. And then, the vision before me shifted to the Foret Noir core room.
