Inyouchuu Kyou Chapter 5 Part 5

The fox ears and nine thick tails that appeared when she exerted her superhuman spiritual powers have all but disappeared. Mikoto had no idea as to why she became that way, but she could tell at a glance that she was going to be a force to be reckoned with, if only she stayed focused and got a grip.

(Agh, for all the possible times for her to fall to pieces like that……)

Contrary to the impatient and angry Mikoto,

「What’s wrong with that young lady? She looks unwell. Maybe I will need to give her a proper examination later, just to be on the safe side?」

With a disgustingly distorted toad-like face, Director Hongouin took a step forward.

「Oh no, you don’t! Don’t get any closer than that, asshole!」

「Hmm? And why would I want to do that? As you can see, I am a doctor here. It’s only natural that when I see a sick person right in front of me, I want to help them. It goes with the profession, you know? And besides……」

But without actually waiting for the doctor to finish speaking,

「GHHIIIIII!!!!!!」

Mikoto mustered all the remaining spiritual powers that she had at her disposal and took a sharp step forward.

‘Raikou’’s tip grazed the floor right at the Director’s feet, flying in a motion as if the Exorcist girl wanted to cut the toad-like man’s stomach open.

There was no immediate response from the toad-like man, but the Director deepened his disgusting smile, looked down at his grazed belly and put his shoulders down in a playful way, as if he was performing a comedic act.

「Oh, that’s a truly splendid sword. There’s no doubt about it in my mind. You might be young, but you are really good at wielding that thing, young lady.」

「Y…… You…… What the hell……!?」

「Fumu, fumu? Yes, your sword skills are top-notch, but now that I think about it…… isn’t your talent as a spellcaster not all that great to begin with? Oh well, I guess that’s fine. You seem to have put a whole lot of effort into your training, so I guess that you are bound to be way more useful than that young lady sleeping over there.」

Pushing aside his torn belly, his red, slimy and small intestines overflowing from it, the Director did not seem to care about being cut open like that a whole lot. He would continue to step forward, trampling over his own spilling body fluids with his leather shoes and took a step closer towards Mikoto.

「Kuh……」

Feeling the immense pressure emanating from him, Mikoto involuntarily retreated. She immediately hit the bed with her butt, and although she couldn’t retreat any further, the tip of her katana wobbled around looking for a place where she could possibly make her escape.

「Uuuhh, uuuhhh…… Uuuhhh……」

Rinko, who seemed to have paid no attention at all to Mikoto’s words while she was wailing at her feet, swayed from side to side as she stood up back on her feet. But it would seem that she did not stand up in order to fight. She kept wiping her face with her hands and crying like a little child.

「Rinko! Pull yourself together, God damn it!」

「B-But…… But…… Mandi…… My Mandy is……!!」

「M-Man…… What the hell are you even talking about!?」

「T-That old man, he…… He took Mandi and……」

Rinko pointed at the Director with her left hand while coughing nasally.

Mikoto, who was lured to look at Rinko, then noticed a stuffed teddy bear hanging in the Director’s right hand. The patched stuffed animal that Rinko always held closely to her chest…… Was that Mandi that she was talking about just now?

「Hmm? Oh, is that it? that thing that you were talking about?」

Following Mikoto’s line of sight, the Director looked down at his right hand and smiled broadly.

「It looks like you’re an important friend of that young lady, aren’t you, little fella? Now then, I wonder what I should do here, hmm……?」

「G-Give it back!」

When Mikoto shouted and held out her hand, the plump man shook his long, long intestines overflowing from his belly and spread his arms out teasingly.

Chasing after the teddy bear that was going away, Rinko stepped forward. For some reason, Mikoto’s hand, even though she stretched it forward as well, managed to miss it completely..

「Oh, this won’t do, I’m afraid. This won’t do at all. Even something like that seems to be a valuable hostage out of all things, so you’d better believe that I am not going to let go of it that easily.」

「You bastard! Aren’t you ashamed of yourself!? For making such a little girl cry!?」

「Even if that girl looks so small, she’s a powerful spellcaster who is a few steps ahead of both of you when it comes to the spiritual arts, right? If it was only you, it would be impossible for someone of your skill level to infiltrate this facility. Therefore, I should be wary of that young lady as well at all times.」

「Kuhh, uuh…… Ahh!? R-Rinko, where are you……!?」

From Mikotot’s side, who was gnashing her teeth in anger, the one-eyed girl took a step forward while crying. Mikoto’s hand tried to grab the shoulder of her black gothic lolita dress, but she failed to stop her, either. Since she calls herself a genius, was she using her techniques unconsciously here?

Rinko took a step further towards the man in white who was grinning and crumbling at the same time.

The Director, who grinned wickedly, hid the stuffed toy in his right hand behind his own body. Suspended Rinko then stumbled closer to the enemy’s bosom.

「W-Wait, Rinko! Any more than that, and……」

Mikoto’s voice was dipped in impatience. If she wanted to go further, she had no choice but to attack Rinko as well. There was no other way.

「GIVE MANDI BACK TO ME!!!」

Rinko, who cried out with a tearful voice, flipped up her eyepatch on her right eye.

「N-Nuoaah…… T-This is……!?」

The Director, who had calmed down even after his stomach was cut open, took a step back as if repelled by something.

It was this moment that turned out to be a major turning point.

「Uroa Marumu!」

A string of light flashed from Rinko’s right eye as she screamed those words.

The curse circuit carved in the depths of the void that was her empty right eye socket was then activated and enacted the spell in response to the words of power being spoken.

「Gyeaaahhh!?」

The Director was bathed in a terrifying white light from the front and blown away behind him while raising a loud death scream. He tumbled through the open door into the pitch-black hallway and disappeared from their sight.

It was not something nearly as powerful as Mikoto’s Thunder God technique earlier, but it was a highly concentrated beam of spiritual energy oriented in a singular direction, so it was more than powerful enough. A normal youma would be wiped out with a single blow from something like that.

(W-We’re safe for now, it seems…… )

Becoming relieved for a moment, Mikoto then quickly regained her composure after catching her breath.

「Ahh, oh no…… Mandi……!!」

The one-eyed girl screamed while in tears and ran out of the mortuary on her own, without looking behind.

Mikoto would understand if the one that Rinko was chasing after was the Director after he happened to run away like a complete coward, but the one that Rinko was running after was in fact her teddy bear that got lost in all of that commotion. Needless to say, Mikoto was finding Rinko’s priorities a little difficult to understand.

「Hey! Wait just a moment, Rinko! Rather than chasing after some dumb stuffed toy, we need to take care of Sui and……」

While Mikoto was shouting that to Rinko who was getting away fast, she then could hear something right behind her back.

「Nnnhhh…… Fuaaah……」

It was Sui’s voice.

Looking back, Sui was starting to move around a bit, while making faint noises.

The energy that Mikoto worked so hard to pour into her finally seemed to have worked, and Sui was finally waking up from her coma, or from must have felt like a really deep slumber to her.

「Rinko, come back! Come back, God damn it! It’s Sui! Sui just woke up and…… Ahh!」

While she was shouting at Rinko to come back and help her, Mikoto returned to the door to the mortuary and what she saw there was not a girl with pink hair, but a horde of small youmas approaching, wriggling, trembling, and groaning all at once. It was a truly horrifying and disgusting sight to behold.

Could it be that Rinko crossed her path with those youmas? Especially when she went through the mortuary’s door a little bit earlier? Was she captured by them, being so shaken by the loss of her favorite stuffed animal? Or could it be that the youmas were sent directly to the entrance using some sort of teleportation or space manipulation technique?

Anyways, there was really no time for Mikoto to actually being bothered by those things. She would have her hands full in just a moment.

「Tch…… They just keep on coming, with no end in sight……!」

She knew that she was just trying to buy some time here, but there was no other way out of this room. Even if it was extremely troublesome, if they would not defeat all of the miscellaneous opponents right in front of them, it would be impossible for them to make their escape.

「Nnhh…… Ahh……—— M-Mikoto… -chan……? Uhh…… you guys…… really came to rescue me……」

「Yeah, of course we did! So just wait a little while longer, Sui! We are getting you out of here and……」

Without turning around, Mikoto cast a quick glance at Sui, and Sui looked at her companions who really would never abandon her in her hour of need.

Then Mikoto, who repositioned ‘Raikou’ in her hands once more, took her step forward without any warning at all ——.
