「Hmm, as expected of Mr. Company President. That bastard always has to make sure that no one will have any place for doing things their own way whatsoever. Next thing we know, it will turn out that we are actually dancing on the palm of his hand this entire time.」
「As much as I would like to agree with your words, then maybe we should cut him some slack, this time at least. Because you know, as much as I do not like certain aspects of Tokuteru myself, we have to remember that this time his actions have saved the lives of at least two people.」
「I know, I know, you do not have to remind me about that, okay? It is just that usually he is a total sleezebag, so I just could not help myself but to trash-talk him on reflex, you know what I am saying?」
「For the sake of keeping this discussion short let us say that I do and just keep it at that.」
Izayoi then walked to where the albino girl was lying and sat on a bench next to her bed. She must have still had quite a fever, because aside from her heavy breathing her cheeks were still dyed with an intense shade of red. She also had her hands bandaged in the places where her shackles used to be, most likely to stop the intense bleeding resulting from the process of their removal together with the pieces of her skin. That thing that Homura called B.D.A (Blood Accelerator). . . could it be that it was placed in one of the shackles that got stuck to her skin?
「That B.D.A thingy. . . was that the cause of this girl’s medical condition?」
「If my diagnosis of the symptoms she was displaying was correct, and I do have every right to think that it was correct, then I think so. At the very least, I cannot think of any other disease or condition that could have placed her in the same state she was in when I got here. By the look of things, it looks like the B.D.A that was embedded in the shackles she had around her wrists was continuously forcibly releasing a small number of Star Particle Bodies into her bloodstream in order to spread them across her entire body via her circulatory system. As a result, her body was continuously exposed to a number of Star article Bodies which was thankfully small enough as to not cause any lasting damage to her body, or, in the worst case scenario, cause it to spontaneously combust and then melt from within, but on the flipside constant exposure to their effects caused her to be in a state where she could have been struck with severe fever like the one she has now at any given moment.」
Homura gave Izayoi a report on the girl’s condition with a bitter expression on his face. It was plain as day to see that under no circumstances he was happy about having to cut a young girl’s skin with a scalpel, even if he was doing that to save her life.
Besides, Homura is a researcher, not a doctor. He did not have a doctor’s license, and as such he was not trained, and most certainly not prepared to be doing things like that. The only thing he did possess was the knowledge of the human body and how it functioned because he thought this type of knowledge might be useful if Star Particle Bodies ever began to cause harmful side effects, like they did with that albino girl and Parashurama’s host.
Not to mention the simple fact that for someone like him, removing the metal shackles that have melded with the girl’s skin without proper tools while also making sure that he will not damage her body any further than it already was must have been a pretty laborious task in its own right.
「There is one more thing that you should be aware of, Big Bro Iza.」
「Yes? What is it?」
「Like I said, the prototype that Tokuteru included within my Gift Card is a Star Particle Bodies Suppressant, not an Inhibitor. So if it ends up not working on that girl, there will be nothing more I can do for her.」
「You have already done more than enough. Besides, if not for you, both of these girls would have probably done for, since there was nothing that I could have done for them by myself. . . as I thought, you are the only one I can count on with that kind of stuff, oh little brother of mine!」
And then Izayoi laughed with his usual 「Yahaha!」 laugh while looking around, but he did not notice anyone else. Looks like Him and Homura were the only Players present here at the current moment.
「What about Suzuka and the young lady from 「Everything Company?」And did you not bring Asterios here with you as well?」
「Lady Ayato is out taking a little stroll around the town. As for Suzuka and Asterios, the two of them headed out because they thought that something about the Game’s Victory Conditions and the map we have been provided felt a little off, so they wanted to check it out.」
「Something was off? And with the Game’s Victory Conditions and the map at that?」
「That is right, or at least that is what Suzuka said it was about. I allowed her to go with it because I concluded that if she said that something was amiss with those things, then she must be right about it. Besides, she might have noticed something that the rest of us would have missed, because recently she has been reading the translation of the contents of the stone tablet about Atlantis written by the hand of the Greek philosopher Plato himself.」
Hou? Now that was something that picked Izayoi’s attention.
「Oioi, now wait just a goddamn minute! That is some pretty amazing source of information you got your hands on here! To begin with, where did you even get something like that? And are you sure that it is a genuine article, and not some really well-made counterfeit?」
「It has been discovered recently in the secret archives of the Roman Catholic Church in Vatican, so I have no doubts that this really is a genuine article, and not a forged counterfeit.」
「Secret archives of the Roman Catholic Church in Vatican?! You mean that supposedly ridiculously huge and mysterious library that is supposed to be holding many of the world’s top-secret documents within its walls?!」
「The very same, and that stone tablet written by Plato himself was the latest discovery that has been made public recently. Throughout the last couple of years, some of the materials from the secret archives have been converted into digital format, allowing the general public to view them anytime they want. It was a pretty big event when it happened, so I thought you would know about it. . . oh wait, that is right, there is no way for you to know what was happening in the world throughout the last couple of years because you were not there, but playing around in Little Garden. Oh how could silly old me forget about it?!」
For a moment, all the thoughts that have been clustered together in Izayoi’s head: the Star Particle Bodies, the albino girl and the crisis that both the Outer World and Little Garden were supposed to be facing were all rounded up and blown out of his mind. The secret archives of the Roman Catholic Church in Vatican were the textbook definition of a place where all of the largest mysteries of the world would be collected.
According to the rumors that were flying around like crazy even when Izayoi was still living in the Outer World, it was a place where the agents of the Chri〇ian religion were gathering all of the books that the pope and the high-ranking church officials throughout the years branded as heretical and forbidden, and that literal mountains of them are being held in the archive’s deepest recesses where they will never see the light of day again.
So who would have ever thought that there will ever come the day when the even a small part of the information that the Catholics wanted to keep hidden from everyone else would be willingly released to the digital sea of electrons where practically everyone with the access to the internet could browse through them like it was the most obvious and mundane thing to do? Thanks to that, even Izayoi could have a look at them as long as he would fancy doing so.
