Last Embryo Volume 4 Chapter 7 Part 4

That is why solving the mystery of this continent definitely had value and merits to it.

But in their current situation, even that was unfortunately not enough. If they wanted to stop Krishna from killing the Albino girls while all they could do about it was to simply stand around and watch it happen, they needed to come up with an alternative right this instant. A one that would be convincing enough to stop this man from claiming the lives of two innocent girls simply because he was convinced that this would be the best course of action for the humanity as a whole right now. A one that could do more in this moment than any number of risen fists could ever do.

If it really is exactly as that man says and they really do not have a single moment of action to waste and they will selfishly choose to stop him from doing what could genuinely be best for mankind’s ensured survival, then that would mean that Homura and Izayoi placed the lives of every human being living in the Outer World now in peril for no plausible reason other than their own unwillingness to do the right thing, even if it was necessary to get their hands dirty in order to go through with it, and that should be absolutely avoided at all costs.

While his brain was screaming internally from all the work he was putting it through right now, Homura bit on his lower lip and squeezed his chest with his hands in an attempt to stop his rapidly beating heart from bursting out of it at any minute now due to the combination of shock and extreme amounts of stress.

「Time. . . . . . is there really no time for us to think about what can be done?! Do we really have to make the decision right now?! I am sure that there is some other way out of this, but I need time to think about it! . . . . . . . . 」

「There is no such thing. If there was, I would have known about it. Part of my Divinity is that I possess the ability of Clairvoyance, in other words, the ability to see into the future. And let me tell you, I do not see any fragments of it where what you are talking about was possible, which means that at the current moment there exists no future in which any postponement of the necessary actions leads to a happy ending for humanity.」

「You are unwilling to give us a chance for such a reason?!! But, if you really do possess the ability to see the glimpses of the future, then it should literally be impossible for someone as omnipotent and all powerful as the Gods from all the mythologies to stumble across any seemingly unsurpassable walls on the road to saving humanity, because you should be able to account for any such possibility no matter how many times the possible variants of the future would undergo a drastic change!」

Homura shouted at Krishna in Heracles’ body. After all, what is universally referred to as 「Fate」is nothing but a collection of accumulated information pertaining to all of the variants of the outcomes of a specific event, meaning that there is not only one possible future, but rather multiple possible futures, each one of them dependent on the actions made in the past that would result in that specific future being chosen as the targeted one.

It is said that the Gods from across all the mythologies around the world have created various sets of trials they would then impose upon mankind in order to test them and steer them towards the future that they desired and steer human evolution into the right direction. But if even the Gods who are supposed to see everything and know everything had to result to such methods in order to see their plans and ambitions fulfilled, then that has to mean that there must be something, some kind of unknown factor in determining the right future that even those beings who are totally outside of the scale of human comprehension are unaware of.

Homura looked at Izayoi, then at the Albino girls, then back at Izayoi and back at the albino girls again while grinding his teeth together to the point where he begun to fear that they might actually shatter due to the friction. . . . . . and then it came t him.

「I have it! I managed to come up with an alternative, so please, just a little!!! I need just a little time to talk with Big Bro Iza!!!」

When he heard Homura’s desperate appeal, Izayoi took a slow, deep breath. However. . .

「Is that really all you were able to come up with? You only wasted your time. What a disappointment.」

Krishna dismissed Homura’s plea with a wave of his hand, claiming that it was nothing but a desperate drivel. Even his eyes were looking at him with a look of utter disappointment. If he really thought that he was going to achieve anything with this cheap attempt at tricker, then it would really be better for him if he just tried to run away with the girls in tow. At the very least, Krishna could then kill all of them for openly resisting his attempts at going through with his plan to save humanity in the most effective way possible. No matter how hard humans may try, a plan comprehensive and effective enough to overturn even the cogs of fate that have already been set in motion cannot be so easily created, and that thought only increased Krishna’s own frustration to a degree where he could no longer hide it from showing on his face. Without proper evidence to back his claims, him saying that he managed to find an alternative solution was little more than pointless lip service. And so, Krishna steeled his resolve: no matter what this boy or Sakamaki Izayoi will try to tell him from now, he will not respond to a single word they are going to direct towards him.

Holding a Chakram in his hand, Krishna then rushed in between the two of them.

「. . . . . . . . . . . . Very well then. Looks like the time has finally come for my turn to be hard at work.」

A flame hot enough to burn even the earth itself suddenly appeared behind their backs. Since when was she listening to their conversation with Krishna, and exactly how much did she managed to hear?

Standing behind them was a white-haired 「Decayer of Injustice」, wielding her bloody-red spear made from the crust of a star in her hand. Then, The Sixth Avatar, 「The hero Slaver」 Parashurama shouted in a devilish voice that reverberated in the ears of everyone who was currently present at the scene.

「Become tainted, my star. . . . . . Pierce him. . . . . {B R A H M A S T R A O R I G I N} ! ! ! ! ! !」

Rotating the spear in her fingers, 「The Hero Slayer」 thrusted it forward while screaming the activation phrase. Knowing that getting hit by it directly will be dangerous even for someone with a Divinity of his level, Krishna reflexively tried to avoid the incoming tip of the burning spear, but before he could do anything has body has been sealed in place by the threads which enveloped his entire body, preventing him from making any kind of movements.

「Khhh. . . ! Parashurama I could understand. . . but you too, Orpheus?! You bastard, what the hell are you thinking. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ?!!」

「I am sorry, but it looks like my hand has slipped. Along with my entire body. Now, you should use this chance and run, lads!」

Orpheus shouted at Sakamaki Izayoi, Saigo Homura and the other albino girl who was still moaning in pain. Homura was too stunned to properly process what was currently going on, but Izayoi’s actions were quick and decisive. He grabbed both Homura and the girl and jumped out of the building through the hole that has been burned in the roof, after which he hastely made way toward the nearby forest.

Now that Krishna’s target has escaped and was moving farther and farther away from him, he had to deal with Parashurama and Orpheus first if he wanted to continue his pursuit. But in his current position, he had no choice but to allow Parashurama to close in on him and launch him high into the sky, where she soon followed after him.
