Last Embryo Volume 6 Chapter 1 Part 6
「To be completely honest with you, your guess is right on the money. Right now, my body feels so heavy that even standing still seems to be incredibly difficult for me now, so if you want me to stay in the Game and continue to do my work, then you best prepare a fuckload of nutritional supplements for me, Mr. Strongest God of War.」
「Did you also got hit in your head during that battle, you utter moron? I might be an investor for your Community, but even then pulling such favors might be stretching things out a bit too far.」
Indra rebuked him for his earlier cheekiness, but Izayoi simply shrugged his shoulders without feeling the least bit remorseful.
「Well, shit. . . . What do you think, Homura?」
「What do I think about what?」
「You saw how the battle went, and you know that both yesterday and today I had no choice but to do it, and I think you know as well as I do that if I keep doing that then I am not going to have much more left to live even if I went back to the Outer World now. Also, even without your lectures, I do know a bit about Star Particle Bodies myself. The side effect of using The Blood Accelerator was an extreme anemia cause by the excessive consumption of the Star Particle Bodies that are present in my bloodstream, but since I was forced to use it today as well, I am sure that this time it will not stop at just that.」
Since Izayoi himself presented such an accurate analysis of his current condition, Homura decided that there was no need for him to be hiding anything, and so he played his hand openly.
「Well, that is most definitely going to be the case. Big Bro Iza, even if your body and internal organs might be stronger than those of regular humans, even they are going to have a limit of how much they can take, and such frequent usage of the B.D.A is not going to do anything to increase that limit, which is why I feel compelled to ask: did you have to use it this time, was there really no other way?」
「Even if there was, there was no time for me to be thinking about it back then. If I did not do anything, Kasukabe would have been killed, and I was not going to allow that to happen no matter what.」
「I know, and I am not blaming you for what you have done, because I know that for you, being unreasonable is your typical way of living. So I am going to tell you the same thing that I told you yesterday: with your body in its current condition, you have to make sure not to overdo it with your usual battle maniac antics.」
In other words, what Homura wanted to say is that for the time being Izayoi should not engage in any further battles and simply focus on giving his body a rest, however, he must have known just as well as Izayoi himself that in the current situation that option was simply out of the question, because both Izayoi and Homura still had a mountainload of work to do, with The 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority and outside of it. Considering the time limit for the occurrence of the catastrophic eruption that Krishna spoke about, their situation would have been pretty dire even without the additional worry baggage that The Sun Authority war carried with itself.
「You probably already know this, but if you want, then you might retire from this Gift Game. If your wounds get any worse than they already are, they are going to hinder your fighting abilities that will definitely be needed in the battles that are going to come in the future, so for your own good, I think it would be best if you and Homura called it quits right here. . . .」
「Wait a minute, Tokuteru.」
Homura cut Tokuteru’s sentence short without even allowing him to finish, which caught him completely by surprise, because he was convinced that Homura would also recommend the two of them to retire.
「Tokuteru. You asked me before about what is my reason for fighting in The 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority. . . and I think that I have finally figured it out.」
「. . .Hou? Well. Let us hear it then. I am genuinely curious to see what is the answer that you have arrived at.」
「Right now, even if my and Big Bro Iza’s mission is to save the world from destruction, we simply do not have enough information to do so, whether it would be about the catastrophic eruption or the organization from the Outer World that uses the black Albinos as test subjects for their Star Particle Bodies experiments. Since you are actually a God then you might find it pretty insignificant from your Divine point of view, but there are simply some things that I absolutely need to know. And the best way for me to obtain that knowledge is through taking part in The 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority and look and experience the facts that I already know about from the entirely different angles. . . . . or at the very least that is how I think I should be going on about it, you know?」
Tokuteru did not say a word so far. He simply stood there with his hands on his chest, encouraging Homura to continue on with his story.
「The first step to doing that is obvious: there is definitely much more that we have to learn about Atlantis, and I have to learn the truth about this continent together with Big Bro Iza. That is why I cannot allow myself to retire, and it would be troublesome for me if Big Bro Iza retired as well.」
Now that both Izayoi and Homura decided that they are going to fight against destiny, they needed to expand their knowledge by a lot, because with what they currently know, there is no way that they are going to be able to do it, and there was a lot of preparations needed to be done before they could even start, and once the things will finally be put into motion, there will be no time left to correct their trajectory in any way, but if they expand their knowledge, even something like that is going to be infinitely better in comparison to what they have been doing up until now: fumbling around in place, making little to no progress while wondering if they are even going to be able to make it before the time limit ends.
「. . . hmm, okay, I understand Homura’s feelings. What about you, Izayoi? Do you share Homura’s beliefs and convictions?」
「Yeah, you bet your ass I do. And just for your information, retiring from the competition was never an option for me in the first place. I have already decided that I am going to win this whole 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority thing and beat the everliving shit out of anyone who thinks that they can just run around and do however the hell they please with Little Garden and The Outer World, both of which I now consider to be my hometowns. As for the future of The Outer World itself. . . then yeah, I guess you could say that I am worried about it as well, probably as much as Homura is, as surprising as that might sound.」
Then Izayoi’s line of sight shifted onto Kasukabe You, and with that, almost everyone present at the scene understood what he was trying to say.
(Kasukabe said herself that she came from the time period et in the future of The Outer World in comparison to my and Miss Rich Lady’s times, so it is more than likely that she already knows the incidents that have transpired in my and Homura’s time, and she might even know the solution to the problems that we have yet to even face yet.)
With the situation they are currently in, they absolutely cannot allow themselves to be picky about the methods that they are going to choose. For them, the most effective plan would be t start right from the one that would guarantee them the highest possible chances of success right from the get-go.
