Last Embryo Volume 6 Chapter 4 Part 9

「I did have something of my own planned just in case, but after seeing all of the information that you gathered here, I think that it is really going to be better to leave the matter of planning our undertaking to save the world from calamity up to you, Homura. But still, building all of those Environmental Control Towers and placing them all around the world is definitely not going to be cakewalk, and one of the biggest hurdles in seeing it come to fruition is going to be the matter of convincing all of the local governments of the places where the towers are supposed to be standing to actually go along with that idea. Do you have a plan for that as well?」

「W-Well, it is not that I do not have one, but I am not really sure if I can call it a plan either, because there are quite a few parts of it that are going to be very much. . . . . . . . . . people dependent, I guess? That being said, is it really going to be okay for us to proceed with it? Are you really, really fine with what I have come up with, Big Bro Iza?」

「You really are going to make me say it over and over again, do you? This time, nothing is going to move forward and we will just continue to stand in place without doing anything if you do not kick things into motion, Homura. As you should be well aware already, I am more than capable of blowing everything and everyone that dares to threaten us into tiny bits, but that is the extent of my usefulness. As long as the problem can be resolved by punching it, then let me at ‘em, but resolving situations and problems where the violence is neither the answer or the best tool for the job is not really my specialty. And besides, do remind me, how long have you been fighting your own fight at the forefront of The Star Particle Bodies research, Dr. Saigo Homura? Exactly. So the thing that you have to ask yourself now the most is: if you are not going to take the lead now, then who in the fuck is going to do it for you?」

The words that he used to do so were more than a little crude, but Homura could definitely feel that Izayoi was trying to give him genuine advice on what he should be doing now. If the circumstances of the crisis that is on their hands right now were any different, then he definitely would have put it all to a stop even if he had to act on his own the entire time, but since the problem was so vastly different in comparison to what he was used to be dealing with, Izayoi decided that the best course of action would be to leave the heavy thinking stuff to Homura, who was much more suited for than kind of work than Izayoi could ever hope to be.

But more than anything else, he wanted to show him that he is not alone and that he will always have trusted people to turn to in his hour of need. Knowing Homura, it was great that he got summoned to Little Garden along with Suzuka and that Ayato girl, because if he was summoned here on his own, then loneliness would have definitely eaten away at him sooner rather than later and affected his usual modus operandi and impeded the process of information gathering, and as we all know, it does not matter if it is a battlefield or a research lab, in both of these environments lack of information can often lead to careless, stupid and often fatal mistakes.

But now that Homura and the others are here, there should be something that only they should be able to do after struggling so much in their respective worlds and fields of expertise with their own personal problems. So as long as Izayoi, the older brother whom Homura has always looked up to as a kid, says that he is the only one who can do something about it, then he had no reason to distrust his words, meaning that the entirety of the plan to save humanity from ruination truly rested on Homura’s shoulders right now.

「. . . .  I understand. Admittedly, I myself think that this plan of mine is a little crazy, but are you still willing and ready to follow it through no matter what?」

「That is what I have been saying this entire time.」

「And you are also willing to cooperate with us on this one, Tokuteru?」

「Of course. They way I see it, whatever happens in the Outer World stays in the Outer World and has no impact on the outcome of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority conducted entirely here in Little Garden whatsoever, so as long as it is going to be within the scope of my capabilities, then I am ready and willing to lend you as much of my support as I possibly can. That, and, well, you know. . .  . maybe we could treat me helping you as the way for me to repay that five hundred thousand yen back to you?」

「Idiot. How long do you plan to drag this joke on? Because it is honestly getting pretty old.」

Homura smiled, and then closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He and his friends were not the only ones who have begun to move in response to the current situation. The inhabitants of a wholly different world than the one that he knew throughout his entire life and even their Gods were also willing to do their best for humanity’s sake even though nobody sked them to, and it moved his heart to its very core.

And if that was the case, if the people from Little Garden were ready to help him in this endeavor no matter what, then this was no longer a question of whether Saigo Homura should take on the initiative or not.

Now it was the time for Saigo Homura to start moving for real.

「. . . . . . . . . All right! Now that the pep-talk part is done, we are going to start with you, Tokuteru. I want you to take the three letters that I have wrote last night and deliver them to their respective addressees. 」

「Deliver the letters?」

「Yeah. In order to overcome the situation that we have on our hands right now, we absolutely need the power of the people to whom these letters are addressed, and if they agree to help us, then the possibility for our victory is going to be completely assured. Or to put it the other way around: if we do not manage to secure the help of these three people for ourselves, then saving the world and humanity from ruination is going to forever be beyond our grasp. So as you can see, this task is pretty darn important, so if you somehow manage to screw it up, it is going to make you look even more lame than usual, so with that in mind, do try and give it your best shot, okay?」

Tokuteru accepted the three「letters」that Homura wrote without a word of complaint, even though they did not look like letters, but rather scrolls of parchment that have been rolled as tightly as possible and then sealed. At times like these, Tokuteru did regret the fact that they could not incorporate the kind of paper that humans used in the Outer World in the modern times, instead having to still rely on good old pieces of parchment. Normally Tokuteru would question why he of all people was being forced to do such a task, but in this case Homura probably nominated him for that Job because he was aware that as a God he would be able to travel back between The Outer World and Little Garden without any major difficulties. And also, if the people that Homura wrote these letters for were truly as important individuals as he said they are, then he is definitely going to need an escort in the future.

Izayoi then asked Homura with a curious smirk on his face: if you think that these three people are going to be essential for us to save humanity, then that has to mean that you have a great deal of trust in them and in what they can bring to the table.

「So, who exactly are these three essential key figures for our plan, if I may ask?」
