Last Embryo Volume 6 Chapter 5 Part 2

Normally, these winds were causing deadly sickness to whoever inhaled even a little bit of them. But now that she realized that the illness aspect of her winds seemed to have seemingly no effect against the enemy they were fighting against, she focused entirely on generating as much of it as she could so that she could obstruct their field of vision as well as the rest of their five senses and made it impossible for them to retaliate against the assault coming from Jin and her other companions. And last but not least, the masked boy wearing a mask, the one who Jin referred to as Caramel. He was keeping in the back of the battle, holding a spear made out of lightning in his hand and shifting his body weight from one hand to the other while being in incredibly high spirits.

Even though the previous two of Jin’s companions were easily on the level of a Divine Spirit, then the lightning spear held by that Caramel boy was on a whole other level that the other two could not possibly hope to approach. If he was to release that spear and throw it upwards, then it would probably pierce the ceiling of the caver they were in now, went through the ground melting the earth and all of the mountains and the volcano itself until it would reach the surface and then go above and beyond until it would reach the sky high above Little Garden. There was no doubt in You’s mind that this is exactly the kind of Divine spear that this weapon of his actually was.

However, it was not just the power of these individuals that You was so surprised at. She was even more amazed by the boy who stood on the same battlefield as the other four. He definitely grew taller since the last time You saw him, but there is no way that she would ever mistake the look of his back for anything else in this world. This was definitely Jin Russell, the former leader of the 『No Name』 Community, commanding that colorful cast of people.

(Jin. . . . . . ?! What is he doing in a place like this?! And together with Heracles no less!)

You knew that Jin was also participating in The 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority, and she suspected that he also might be taking part in this Gift Game organized by the natives, but she would never have expected him to be the one who would reach the innermost level of the Labyrinth before anyone else. And moreover, all of his companions were on a level of Divine Spirit or a Demon Lord! Out of the four of them, You was particularly taken aback by the one that Jin referred to as Marchosias.

He is one of the so-called 「Seventy Two Pillars of Solomon」that possesses a Gift that allows him to always achieve the optimal result in battle, and in the past You even borrowed his power for a bit when she was fighting against Demon Lord Maxwell. She had no idea what led him to end up as one of Jin’s followers, but there was one thing that she knew for sure. This spirited young lad who was battling there now was no longer the same as the chibi Jin that You and the others once knew. Could it be that he also went through a lot of personal growth and improvement throughout the last two years just so that he could take part in The 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority?

Because of the giant vortex of the black wind that was now covering the entire arena she was unable to see what was going on inside of it, but the enemy that they were fighting right now must have been someone truly extraordinary, because if it was just your average monster or another Player, then there is no way the fight would have taken so long without being resolved in any way with so many amazing individuals involved in it. As You was considering if she should join the battle and lend a helping hand to Jin and his companions, a figure started moving within the windy barrier. The enemy, who seemed to have broken through Pest’s wind, swung down his huge battle axe in a manner similar to splitting a bamboo in half, aiming right at Jin, who had no time to escape, dodge or block and ended up being torn in half. . .

. . . except that is not what happened, because as soon as the blade of the battle axe touched him, he disappeared like mist or a mirage and then immediately reappeared elsewhere. Whatever he used just now, it was definitely not teleportation, or any other kind of special jump Gift. It was probably a type of illusion that makes anyone who ends up under its influence misunderstand the whereabouts of the caster, making them think that they are in a completely different place in relation to their actual position. The battle axe that was swung toward Jin’s illusion crashed into the ground with a loud bang and sent cracks all around the area of impact, and because the one wielding it performed that attack without the slightest bit of hesitation with full force, the blade ended up being stick in the ground quite deeply. As for the tremors that the strike caused, normally an impact like that and the shockwave that accompanied it should have been enough to cause all of their surroundings to cave in on itself due to the sheer force, the crystals that filled the entire cave ended up saving their purpose nicely, absorbing all of the axe strike’s impact. And now that the opponent was stuck in place, even if it was for but a brief moment, Heracles was not about to let a chance like that go to waste.

「Fuhnnn. . .  ! ! ! !」

Swinging his fist while he was still running at full speed to maintain the momentum and the rushing power that it gave him, he also put all of his weight and strength into the strike that he just performed. He aimed it at the giant enemy’s liver, causing it to cry out in pain when the blow connected exactly as Heracles intended it to. After confirming that his attacks do work on the enemy, he grabbed and then twisted its hand that was gripping the battle axe and broke all of the joints in it, and then shouted at Caramel:

「Caramel, all set! ! ! ! ! !」

As soon as Heracles opened his mouth and his words left it, the masked boy, Caramel gripped his spear tightly and charged at the enemy at an astonishing speed, piercing its iron-hard skin after he pushed the spear’s tip into it with every ounce of strength that he got in him. Now that she had a chance to take a closer look at this spear weaved from divine lightning, You became absolutely certain that this spear was comparable in power to 『Brahmastra Replica』, the Mock Divinity spear that is supposed to bring its wielder certain victory that Indra gifted to The Moon Rabbits. Caramel was holding his own spear of lightning with both hands and continued to push it forward while putting the weight of his whole body behind it, fully intending to pierce their opponent’s flank and end this battle right here, right now with this one-shot kill attack, and when he finally managed to pierce the giant monster’s skin to the point where its blood began to drip down onto the floor You was sure that the victory was theirs for the taking, but then. . . . . .

(. . . .! ! ! ! !)

Any further advances have been thwarted by a stream o lightning that began to flow infinitely around the monster, invalidating any and all attempts even getting closer to it. And while it was not exactly the same, You has seen something like that happen before as well. It was in The City of Glittering Flames when Kuro Usagi tried to throw her 『Brahmastra Replica』 at His Highness, only to have it bounce off of him as if it was a wooden toothpick and not a divine armament. It was a happening that was without precedence, because Indra’s Spear was supposed to be a weapon enchanted with a Gift that was supposed to be capable of overriding every concept and possible reality to grant victory to its wielder, and yet it did not happen back then.
