Volume 5 Chapter 112
Third Round and Quarterfinals
As my victory was being announced, I walked down the stage and approached the elephant beastkin.
He was already being attended to by a team of medical personnel.
「Careful, the humerus, clavicle, and second — correction, fourth— costal rib are all shattered」
「How can that be, that attack did not seem that powerful」
「With this much damage, it’s a miracle he is still breathing」
The doctors in white robes were amongst themselves discussing while offering first-aid.
Beastkin did not normally suffer such serious injuries since their wounds heal faster and their bodies are sturdier.
Owing to that fact, this country’s medical practices were under-developed to a large degree and healing magic practitioners were lacking.
A lot of beastkin with serious injuries often died as a result.
Meaning beastkin are more vulnerable in the case of warlock attacks.
「Sorry, I might have overdone it there. Are you okay?」
「Ugh, uhh… N-no, don’t sweat it. If you had used that other sword, I’d be long dead」
The elephant beastkin’s colour was not convincing as he spoke. I felt guilty.
「Heal!」
I used Healing Magic on him.
Layering a thousand heal spells should suffice to fixing his broken bones.
「Wh-ooa!」
The elephant beastkin who was about to be carried away on a stretcher, rose up.
「What!?」
「He, he’s healed? Using just Heal?」
「Truly…… Healing Magic from other countries is something」
The healing practitioners were impressed.
I did not intend on healing every wounded participant in this tournament, just perhaps, only the ones I injure.
The elephant beastkin showered me with never-ending thanks, which made me feel weird as I was the one responsible for his injuries, so I made my great escape.
And so, the second match of the third round began.
The battle card read, Imperial Beast Guard vs Imperial Beast Guard
One of which was the Imperial Beastkin Guard who served as our guide to the Martial Arts Shrine. Their match was nothing to sneeze at, they are both from an elite group of fighters in this country.
The arena was in an uproar.
The Imperial Beastkin Guard from the shrine won. He will be my opponent next.
In the third match of the third round, the deer beastkin from the Capital checkpoint faced off against an Imperial Beastkin Guard.
He was the only herbivore to succeed from the preliminaries. Furthermore, in his second match he bested another Imperial Beastkin Guard.
Since I did not watch his previous matches, I do not have much knowledge on his skill. However, he must be strong, to make it this far as an unseeded beastkin.
The match was on.
And I finally understood what made the deer beastkin strong.
Magic.
His fast activation of spells gave him an edge.
He is most likely a beastkin with a magic-type job.
He had an upper hand over the beastkin soldier by using body strengthening magic to enhance his physical abilities. Not to mention he was wearing almost perfect magic clothes.
Ryuushin will be the deer beastkin’s opponent if he wins his next match.
Speaking of, Ryuushin’s opponent in the next match was a wolf Imperial Beast Guard.
Despite having the swiftest offensive maneuvers amongst the Imperial Beast Guards, Ryuushin who was in partial dragonization easily parried all his high-speed attacks.
When none of his attacks seemed to land, the Imperial Beast Guard let his guard down in a state of shock, at which point Ryuushin took advantage. With a leg sweep, Ryuushin brought the Imperial Beast Guard down, before he aimed for his face with a power-driven fist.
But before the fist could make contact with the Imperial Beast Guard’s face, Ryuushin stopped. The Imperial Beast Guard conceded defeat.
The next match was the fifth of the third round.
Melida won with an overwhelming defeat to the Imperial Beast Guard.
Not to say that her opponent was weak.
Just that Melida had the upper hand with her high-level martial arts and armor of flames that she had transformed her magic suit into.
She has already mastered how to reproduce the flame armour after I showed it to her just one time.
I am once again impressed by Melida’s battle sense.
The sixth and seventh matches were between Imperial Beast Guards.
Afterward, the panther beastkin who had sliced through the Unbeaten Target in the preliminaries battled Leo, Melida’s father, in the eighth meath of the third round.
Leo was the victor.
Amazingly, he blocked the panther’s sword which had cleaved the Unbeaten Target with his bare arm.
In a stupor, on how his attack was blocked, the panther beastkin found himself blown away out of the arena by Leo’s powerful punch.
With that the final eight for the Martial God’s Warrior Tournament were decided.
At this is how is was for the quarterfinals –
Myself against Imperial Beast Guard
Deer Beastkin against Ryuushin
Melida against Imperial Beast Guard
Imperial Beast Guard against Leo
That is how it was.
In my match I quickly knocked the Imperial Beast Guard out with a fist boosted by my magic suit.
Following my match, before the deer beastkin could think of using any of his spells, Ryuushin had already brought him down with a thrust of a dragon claw.
Melida and Leo were also winners of their matches by overwhelming their Imperial Beastkin Guards.
The truth is that the Imperial Beast Guards are strong in their own right, but when compared to these other guys they did not come close.
I have a feeling that Ryuushin is yet to showcase his complete power. Melida on the other hand has an acute sense of battle.
I must not let my guard around them.
I should not grow arrogant over my easy defeat of the warlock that was problematic for Leo.
Actually, I cannot help but feel there is more to Leo than meets the eye.
If I am right, then he might…
In any case, with two wins to go, Melida’s— or should I say, the paw-touching reward of cat beastkin in this country is mine.
A grin crept up on my face.
Killing time!
Too much.
My excitement got the better of me and my bloodlust oozed out.
Ryuushin turned around to look at me with a troubled expression.
Melida with a tearful gaze also stared at me.
Sorry, sorry.
Come on, I would not kill my comrades.
I have restraint…… right?
