The Sage vs A Dragonewt
「Halt, for this match, you can’t use Dominion and more than five Flame Knights. Got it? 」
No, I’m not sure I understand……
The semi finals were at hand.
And Ryuushin standing on the stage, waiting for me, set conditions for the match as I walked up to the platform.
「Also, I win if I land any hit on you, no matter how small 」
No, no, no, no, that hardly seems fair.
For one thing, he overwhelmed those beastkin soldiers like it was nothing.
Why would I accept these conditions?
「If you don’t accept these conditions, know that —-」
「That? 」
「I’ll forfeit」
「Are you kidding? 」
Ryuushin sounded ridiculous.
The audience had eyes set on this match. It is an understatement to suggest they would be less than enthralled if they did not get the match they came to see.
「I am not suicidal! It’d be impossible to win with nothing but my fleshy body against a Demon King who possesses a legendary weapon, accompanied by his Warlocks! 」

Flaming Knights = Warlocks
Dominion = Legendary Weapon
Me = Demon King
Fleshy body = Incomplete Dragonization
Demon King, really? How insulting.
All his claims are false, well, except for Dominion being a legendary weapon. Sure, my Flame Knights are strong, but to compare me to a Demon King is quite a stretch. Besides, Ryuushin’s dragonewt body is nothing to sneeze at.

Did he say I’m allowed up to five Flame Knights?
…… If so, then this might work.
「I understand. I’ll accept your terms. I won’t use Dominion, and I’ll even refrain from using Ink Sword. Lastly, I will summon less than six Flame Knights」
「Y, you sure? 」
「Yeah, however, just so I understand, I can re-summon any number of Flame Knights you defeat as long as their total is not more than five, right? 」
「Yes, I have no problem with that. I can manage to dodge attacks from five of them long enough to land a hit on you」
Ryuushin seemed certain of himself as he spoke.
I intend to keep my word.
I will summon a maximum of five Flame Knights, and I won’t use Dominion.
With that, the semifinals, my match against Ryuushin, began.
I expected he would aim for me right away, but he didn’t.
「I will wait for you to bring out your Flame Knights, consider it as thanks for agreeing to my conditions」

「I appreciate it, then I here go –」
I took a deep breath.
And then—
「Firelance! Waterlance! Windlance! Earthlance! Thunderlance! Lightlance! Darklance! 」
「Eh? Wait, whaaaa!? 」
I brought out five Flaming Knights.
Together with five of the other attributes, water, wind, earth, thunder, light, and darkness.
If it’s possible to make knights out of fire, it’s not hard to understand that it’s also possible using other attributes. Tina is the only I have shown this to, though.
Technically, I did not break my promise to Ryuushin. I have 「a total of five flaming knights」and other knights of different attributes.
It’s a kind of favour on my part to him that I only brought out five of each attribute.
Let’s see Ryuushin dodge all of the thirty-five of their attacks and manage a hit on me!
「Are you ready? 」
「No, not good! Not yet, stop!! 」
「Okay, attack」
Ryuushin looked to be ready and I made the knights charge at him.
「Oooooooiiiiii, impossible! I don’t want to die!! 」
Ryuushin on top of his lungs screamed, while at the same time evading each of their oncoming onslaughts.
「Ahhhhhh! 」
Aside from the shameless shriek from him, the claws from the partially dragonized Ryuushin had slashed through the cores of the several knights.
I decided to wait till the first thirty-five have been defeated before I bring out more.
As the match continued, Ryuushin showed improvement.
At first, he could barely take on two flaming knights.
He was taking on several knights of differing attributes at a go, which is a lot of growth from when he could barely handle two flame knights at the start.
Being able to defeat my knights who could crush even warlocks, in my opinion, puts him in the same kind of league with a Demon King more so than me.
I made this comparison while I watched him.
Ryuushin’s attacks were putting some damage on the knights, but he was also taking damage from their attacks that could cut through his dragon skin.
This meant Ryuushin had to constantly keep a distance from them.
He’s getting worn out in the process.
「Damn, damniiiiiiiiiiiiiit!! 」
Looks like he’s done.
He was on his knees, his feet twisted, while the knights swarmed about him.
I did not go for the final blow though.
The point is to restrain him.
「—!?」
Something sped right to me at an incredible velocity that I had barely enough time to avoid.
It was a flaming knight’s head.
The knights that were surrounding Ryuushin were cut up into bits which scattered about like confetti.
In the place where Ryuushin had previously been, was a black dragon.
Black dragons have the highest attack power, and are more ferocious than any other kind of dragon.
From it, I felt waves of Ryuushin’s magic power.
「Is that you…… Ryuushin? 」
「Aah, yes」
The black dragon replied.
Ryuushin had transformed into it.
「You’ve achieved complete dragonization? How? 」
「……. The best I can explain is that the pressure, the amount of violence I just experienced forcibly awaked the dragon’s blood dormant inside me…..」
—- So it’s my fault?
「Ohh! Congrats, Ryuushin」
He’s achieved his long-cherished dream of becoming a full dragon. It’s an exciting moment indeed.
Even though it is my magic that was a catalyst for his transformation, Ryuushin broke out of his shell on his own. I don’t expect any gratitude.
I’ll have to make a fancy dinner for Ryuushin’s celebration later on—- I started planning for the celebration.
「Halt, this time around it’s time for you to feel the full force of my assault! 」
「Eh? 」
「Prepare to be overwhelmed by the might of a powerful warrior!! 」
The black dragon released a blast of Dark Breath at me.
And here I was planning his celebration.
Come on, isn’t it like me who helped you reach this stage?
…… It is no use.
Guess a little punishment will do him good.
His Dark Breath was aiming right for me.
Using the magic robe I fortified my body, and with my right arm I parried the Dark Breath into the sky.
「What? 」
The black dragon was awestruck.
「Can you afford to freeze up? 」
I got up close to the Black Dragon in an instant.
When he became aware of my proximity, I had already thrust my fist into his body.
「Gwaaaaaahh!!! 」
The Black Dragon growled as he got launched into a distance.
I had adjusted the force of my attack so he did not go over the edge— which was very close.
「Ugh, ugh…… How? I embody destruction, I am the Black Dragon. How is this……」
「Don’t grow conceited just because you are now a Black Dragon. I know you believe the Black Dragon to be the pinnacle of overwhelming power, that’s not exactly right. I have beat a Black Dragon before, when I was around eight years old」

「Let me show you the skill I used against it」
I fed the magical robe around me the light attribute.
The magic robe, which normally has no attribute, turned into a holy armour clad in holy light.
「The biggest weakness to a Black Dragon, which itself is of black attribute, is the light attribute magic」
「Ha, Halt, wait a minute! What is that? 」
「Light magic, your weakness. I’m about to attack you with it, it might hurt a bit. So, brace yourself or avoid it if you can」
Well, not like he could evade it.
Light magic has a faster attack speed than any other attribute magic, including lightning.
I approached the squirming Black Dragon, unhurried.
