Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Chapter 1.4

There was going to be show downs between the Sakura Team and the Cat Ear Team, and the Great Detective Team and our Young Lady Team.

Stepping forward for the Sakura Team was Yukihime-neesan. And stepping forward for the Cat Ear Team was….

「It’s me again!」

M (Yun-chan) makes yet another appearance. To be honest, I had been curious and was keeping an eye on M and Nishi-san for a while now, but there really wasn’t any conversation between the two of them. Nishi-san just silently followed whatever M was doing. It seems like the happy smiling Nishi-san from when M was Nanana-chan was just an act. There was an awkward atmosphere between the two of them.

Meanwhile, the Great Detective Team that was competing against us sent out….

「Hmph, looks like it’s finally my turn.」

At long last, the great detecting Ikkyu Tensai is taking part in a <<forced acquisition game>> for the first time…. Hey hey, don’t strike a dumb pose. And don’t point at me and call me out. Don’t single out anyone!

However, since we had already anticipated this happening, we were ready to take action.

「….Um. Members of the Young Lady Team, who is your representative?」

Imawano-san (the banker) was confused. That was to be expected because, while the Great Detective Team had only Tensai come up, our whole team came up.

The three of us sing at the same time and strike the same pose.

Seeing this, Tesai shouted in a dumbfounded panic, 「H..hey you bastards! Stop your cool posing on me!」

Yeah, it’s a cool pose isn’t it?

「Anyway, Juugo! You are a worthy opponent and the only one here who can face me!」

Yes, you’re calling me out by name Tensai. Actually, stop saying stuff like that on network television. People will think I’m a weirdo like you.

So anyways, here’s my reply.

「Ha, I have no choice. If that’s what you want, I’ll do it.」 (Me)

「Shut up Servant A. I’ll be the one to deal with this little mouse.」 (Ageha-ojousama)

「No, I’ll go this time.」 (Tetsu-kun)

OK, on three…, 「「Now, who will your opponent be?」」

「S… stop being dumb!」

「「「We are very serious.」」

「Why do their voices harmonize so beautifully?」

「「We practice all the time.」」

Yeah, we’re in perfect sync.

Tensai indignantly scratches her head and groans ‘Hmmm’. I sincerely hope that her anger is directed at us for making fun of her, and not at the fact that we stand out more than her.

The host, Imawano-san (the banker) starts to ask us, 「Well, that’s a bit…」

「It’s fine isn’t it? I think this makes for a more interesting show.」

At that moment, Producer Baba, who was standing next to the camera, held up a cue card saying, ‘OK go with it’. Even the student announcer who was commentating the show got involved saying, 「This is getting interesting!」 And so Imawano-san reluctantly agreed.

「And so… the Young Lady Team will be represented by all of you.」

And so a deal was made, and as soon as the program went to commercial break an angry Tensai began stomping towards them.

Run away, run!

「So what is this all about President Yuiga?」

Pretending to be fleeing from Tensai, I arrived at the robbery room before the other representatives. I gave President Yuiga, who was flirting with a camera girl, a good kick in the butt as I asked him.

「What do you mean?」

「I mean the forced acquisition game that M played earlier. Why did the base rate suddenly jump? Was that just an instruction that M made?」

「No, that was the way it was originally decided. Once the number of turns reached 10, most of the <<forced acquisition games>> would have a rate that was appropriate for that number of turns.」

President Yuiga took out several papers from his pocket and showed them to me. They were a script or instruction sheet that had likely been given to him in advance, as he was in charge of this robbery room as the banker. The rules and content of all the <<forced acquisition games>>, as well as the rates for each game, were written in detail on them. Saying that, President Yuiga quickly took the cards from his front pocket.

So I started to think about it.

With the number of laps now at 10, the <<forced acquisition game>> has undoubtedly become more risky with many more coins moving about. But how will M use it? The fact that President Yuiga, who is in charge of the games as the banker, has not intervened suggests that she is not planning to use him to cheat in some way like Sansa-san did.

There are only a few turns left. The difference between last place and third place is about 500 coins. How can M turn this around?

Then the other participants came to the robbery room. Among them was Tensai, who looked out of breath. She had probably run out ofo energy in the middle of the hallway chasing after me, and then was caught by the other participants who had just arrived.

And so the <<forced acquisition games>> began.

First is the showdown between Yukihime-neesan and M.

Their game will be <<look that way poi>>.  The rules are basically the same as <<look that way hoi>> but after playing rock paper scissors, when the losing player avoids looking at the direction the winner points, the number of winning coins will be multiplied.

The basic rate is the number of rounds x the base rate x 10. The longer the game continues, the more it will increase. In other words, this is also a high-rate game with no upper limit. Of course M chose the base rate.

「Max rate of course!」

In other words, every time someone avoids the direction pointed at another 100 coins are bet.

Her opponent (Yukihime-neesan) also has a tense expression on her face.

And so the match begins.

「Rock paper scissors. Turn that way!」

And the moment Yukihime, who won rock paper scissors, raised her finger upwards….

M‘s face also turned upwards.

「The winner is Sakura Team’s Yamato Nadeshiko.」

With M‘s defeat, the last-place Cat Ear Team loses 100 coins to the Sakura Team. With this farce over, the next match is…

The Great Detective Team’s Ikkyu Tensai steps forward to the table in the center of the robbery room. And standing in front of Tensai is…

「Don’t mess with me! Yo, Tetsunoshin! What happened to Juugo? Show me Juugo!」

This makes Tensai furious.

Tensai shook her fist in anger and tried to leave the robbery room. President Yuiga called out to Tensai in a panic.

「Wait, Tensai-kun! ….. I mean Great Detective-sama. If you leave the robbery room at this point, it will be considered a forfeit and you will lose.」

「Who cares? I won’t feel satisfied until I vent my frustration at Juugo!」

And then Tensai actually left the robbery room.

President Yuiga declared with a reluctant look on his face, 「This will be considered a default victory for the Young Lady Team. The forfeiture penalty will be the number of laps x 50 coins.」

In other words, 500 coins. That’s a lot, no matter how you look at it.

「Hey Tetsu-kun. I’m sorry, but could you please give up on this match too?」

I had been hiding behind another table and watching the whole exchange. I emerged and made that request.

「….OK. I forfeit too.」

Hearing Tetsu-kun’s statement, President Yuiga realized what I was thinking. He asked, 「Is this really ok?」

「Yeah. It would be a problem if the Detective Team were out of the running at this point.」

President Yuiga sensed I was up to something and agreed to it.

「Even so, you’ve done quite a lot. Turning a blind eye to Tensai-kun who was so eager to challenge you. Yama-kun can’t be forgotten about.」
