Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 10 Chapter 1.1

Episode 1: Nanaejima – First Half of Summer Vacation / Three Accounts

First Account: Amagi Taisei’s Summer Vacation (Seventh High School Community)

1

On the last day of the first semester, a game hosted by the mysterious organization Leprechaun took place. Many Nanana Collection owners gathered to compete for the rare Nanana Collection <<Sword of Nanana>>, the prize for winning the <<game>>.

It was just five days ago, and many events unfolded overnight: The machinations of M, the organizer of the <<game>>, the intrusion and violent acts of the Nanaejima General Security, the pitch black humanoids controlled by M, and finally the appearance of the GREAT 7, who control the island.

This battle raised many questions for the owners of the Nanana Collections.

Until now, they had been secretly exploring <<ruins>> hidden all over Nanaejima and obtaining the Nanana Collections. There was a certain sense of superiority in knowing that they were the only ones attempting to uncover the hidden secret.

The mastermind behind this are a mysterious organization known as the Leprechauns, and the <<challengers>> are tasked with exploring the <<ruins>> set up all over the island by these Leprechauns and obtaining the treasure known as the Nanana Collection hidden deep within. This was a secret only known to the <<challengers>> who learned of the existence of the Nanana Collection.

However, the recent <<game>> made them realize that it was all just a sham. The appearance of the Nanaejima General Security and the GREAT 7 was adult involvement. It was like they realized that everything they’d been doing in secret had been discovered by their parents and teachers. It felt like those adults could intervene at any time. It was a letdown.

Everyone is curious about the Leprechaun’s movements, the presence of someone hiding the Nanana collection, and the efforts to retrieve it, the punishment for the girl who acted as the organizer M, and the rampage of the pitch black men at the end of the <<game>> (although I do share some responsibility for that). A number of events occurred that night that shook the values of these <<challengers>>.

Nanaejima is an island where students can pursue their dreams. Even in a place like this, the Nanana collection is a unique presence.

After this incident, some might think to stop, fearing that the adults will find out and keep an eye on them. Others might see the Leprechaun’s movements and decide to distance themselves.

Reality and dreams. The boundary that they thought existed between the two has wavered and disappeared before their very eyes. The <<game>> has confronted the challengers searching for the Nanana Collection with a truth that makes them think this way.

Even so, Taisei thinks that the reason he’s not all that shocked is probably because he’s easily able to accept these frameworks in his mind.

Amagi Taisei. A second-year student at Seventh High School, and the vice president of the student council. Nowadays, he looks like a blonde delinquent (no, he’s not actually a delinquent), but there was a time when he was a very withdrawn person. The online game he was addicted to made him that way.

Basically, there is a mastermind called the organizers, and there are rules on that online game. This treasure hunt game called the Nanana collection gathering is played in accordance to these rules. Within this framework, there are players who call themselves <<challengers>>, and they are simply enjoying the game. But if you take a step back, it’s only natural that the circumstances of the managers (Leprechaun) and sponsors (the governing board that runs Nanaejima) are also involved.

This type of game and content doesn’t exist solely because of the players. The online game that Taisei was addicted to didn’t have an ultimate goal that could be called beating the game. It only ends when the player is satisfied and bored. This game of collecting the Nanana collections is the same. The game will probably never end. So what is the goal of each player who participates, and what does it mean to beat this game to them? That’s something each individual must decide.

In any case, the <<game>> five days ago brought about doubts and changes for many of the participants. But Taisei believes that the ones who have undergone the most positive changes are undoubtedly the Seventh High School Community.

The Seventh High School Community. As its name suggests, it is a community run by Nanaejima’s Seventh High School, the seventh of the seven high schools on Nanaejima, with the aim of collecting the Nanana collection.

Although they missed out on winning the <<game>> and obtaining the rare Nanana collection (the <<sword of Nanana>>), they were more concerned about promoting their newly formed community and demonstrating their drive to all the <<challengers>>.

The person who played the lead role in this was the leader of Taisei and the Seventh High School Student Council President, Nishi Asumi.

Towards the end of the <<game>>, as the General Security Police fired their guns calling for surrender and the rampaging pitch black men ran wild, she called on the confused participants to save a dying girl using telepathy (with the help of a Nanana collection <<The Sacred Tree of Anborusa>>.

Finally, they received a message from Shunjuu Ikkaku (the leader of the GREAT 7 and the leader of the island) and conveyed it to everyone, declaring that they would continue to pursue the mystery surrounding the Nanana Collection.

Asumi’s dignified and straightforward demeanor has earned her praise from the <<challengers>> and she has succeeded in gaining sympathy from many of them.

Over the past few days since the start of summer vacation, the challengers who participated in the <<game>> have been arriving at the Seventh High School one after another. Asumi speaks with them, explains about her community, and gains their support. The number of members in the community is steadily increasing, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that the Seventh High School Community is now the largest force of <<challengers>> on Nanaejima.

「…powaaaan.」

The leader of this community, Asumi Nishi (a third year at Seventh High School) was currently in a state of complete listlessness.

The setting was in the Seventh High School Student Council room. Sitting comfortably in that plush chair at the student council president’s large desk by the window, Asumi looked completely lost. Perhaps it was just her imagination, but it seemed as if something resembling a soul had spilled out of her mouth.

「This is awful.」

Watching the scene from afar, Taisei groaned involuntarily.

「It can’t be helped, Tai-chan.」

Standing next to her, Imawano Misao sporting a troubled smile. A second year student like Taisei, she served as secretary of the Seventh High School Student Council.

「Well, if a guy you’ve been missing for almost a year reunites with you and then immediately chooses another girl, that’s what the result is, right? Boss, you’ve been dumped, bro.」

「「Nooooo!」」

Misao and Taisei quickly cover another member’s mouth to stop them from saying more. This person was Kuroko Ooki, another second year student of the Seventh High School and nicknamed Sadako.

After covering Kuroko’s mouth, the two hurriedly moved to the corner of the room and began lecturing.

「Kuroko, you asshole! What are you talking about? What if Asumi hears you?」

「That’s right, Kuroko, read the room!」

「If I read the room, I can tell that’s the case.」

「But even so, you should know that you shouldn’t say that!」

「But it’s still true.」

「God, you’re an insensitive woman!」

「You’re only just realizing this now, you blonde delinquent?」

The overly free-spirited Kuroko laughs, ‘Mukekekeke.’

「No, I’ve known for a while.」

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

「Excuse me, is president Asumi-chan here?」

Meanwhile, a third-year female student enters the room.

Suddenly, the spirit that had been leaking from Asumi’s mouth receded.

「Oh, I was wondering who it was. It’s Hibiki, the school festival executive committee chairman. What’s up?」

Asumi’s usual cheerful expression returned. She had a smile on her face.

「President Asumi. I’ve prepared the documents you requested. Please check them.」

「Understood. I’ll take care of them. Hibiki, I’m looking forward to your hard work.」

Hibiki smiled brightly at Asumi’s smile.

「I’ll do what I can.」

Hibiki waved gently to Taisei and the others and left the student council room.

「What’s up, Asumi? You seem to be doing better than I thought…」

「Powaaaaaan.」

「…Waaah, you’re back to how you were!」

Asumi was exhausted again, her soul spilling out of her mouth.

「It seems like she goes back to normal when she has a responsibility. Even though she’s depressed as hell, she bounces back perfectly when it comes to work. I guess that’s what you’d expect from a president, isn’t it?」

Taisei could only sigh, knowing exactly what Misao was saying.

「Damn, Asumi really is a serious person.」

「Maybe you should learn from her example. You’re a figurehead vice president who can’t do any work.」

Kuroko had hit the nail on the head, and Taisei groaned involuntarily.
