What could that exchange this morning have been?
「Could you give me a break?! I told you to leave me alone, jackass!」
While we were on our way through the corridor that connected to the next school building on the second floor, we heard a girl’s voice shouting from somewhere. We stopped in our tracks.
Did something happen? While worrying I recalled having heard this voice before.
As soon as I thought this, Tetsu-kun (who had been standing beside me) suddenly dashed away.
「Wait. Tetsu-kun what’s going on?」
As I hurried to chase after Tetsu-kun, at the moment Tetsu-kun turned his face in the direction we were running in, I could find out whose shouting voice we had heard just now.
In the courtyard with the fountain in the middle of the third school building, a single girl was grabbed by the arm by a man in a suit that looked like a teacher, and they seemed to be in some sort of argument.
「Huh? Is that… no way!」
She was wearing our school’s uniform, but this girl was without doubt…..
Then I opened my eyes wide in surprise. As for why, that’s because I saw Tetsu-kun open one of the windows of the corridor, turn towards it, and jump out without the slightest bit of hesitation.
「Eh, heeehhhhhh?!」
Tetsu-kun made a clean landing on the ground and grabbed the male teacher from behind.
「Get away from Yun!」
He sent the teacher flying and stood with his limbs spread out to protect Yun.
「Y..you punk! What’s your deal?」
「That’s my line.」
With the two of them staring each other down, there was definitely an explosive atmosphere going on.
=====================================
「What even is Tetsu-kun doing?」
「Ya..Yama-kun. What should we do?」
Yumeji-san (who had also chased after us) had viewed the scene in the courtyard and was getting flustered. With the way things looked, there was no time to waste on going down the stairs.
Just like Tetsu-kun, I jumped out of the window on the second floor. By the time I landed on the ground, Tetsu-kun was already seizing the male teacher. In fact he already had his fist raised.
「Hey, wait!」
BAM!!
The result of my action: Tetsu-kun let the teacher go without punching him. Instead he punched me when I had gotten between them.
「I’m really sorry.」
Tetsu-kun lowered his head to me while Yumeji-san cooled my cheek with a damp towel.
「Nah, it’s okay. Don’t worry about it.」
After that we received a firm scolding by the male teacher (Yun-chan’s homeroom teacher) that Tetsu-kun had tried to hit. Tetsu-kun being a transfer student said that it looked like a female student was being attacked in the courtyard. The teacher who had been mistaken for an attacker became even angrier, but we were able to avoid further punishment.
「Nevertheless though, I really hadn’t expected that Anpanman would be my upperclassman in school!」
「I also really hadn’t thought that you would be my underclassman, Yun-chan.」
Considering the color of the tie on Yun-chan’s uniform, she was a first-year. To be honest, when I first ran into her in Tsukuyomi town I thought she was a middle-schooler. Let’s keep that a secret though.
「Uhm, Yama-kun. What is Anpanman?」
To this question of Yumeji-san I replied smoothly with a smile「That is my codename.」but she just tilted her head and said「 What…?」.
「Uhm, let me properly introduce myself: I am Yama Juugo, a second year.」
「I’m Yoshino Kiki, a first-year. It is nice to meet you!」
Yun-chan bowed her head slightly.
Ehhhh, Yun-chan’s name is actually Yoshino Kiki? …… Wait a sec. How do you get「Yun」from that??
「That, uhm….. why is your nickname Yun-chan?」
「When I first met our big sis she told me 『You are somewhat Yun-ish, so you are Yun』so that’s why.」
So it really was random. Batako-san…
「But Anpanman. Since I now know that you are my upperclassman in school, I need to refer to you as Yama-senpai from now on!」
Those words from Yun-chan when she was smiling like that made my chest flutter.
「Uhm, could you call me that once more?」
「Hm? What do you mean, Yama-senpai?」
Apparently she didn’t understand the intent of my question. Yun-chan tilted her head in wonder keeping her eyes wide open. However, I did not respond to her. I closed my eyes and let the reverberation of it soak in. Yama-senpai, Yama-Senpai, Senpai…… ahhh this feels good ♥
Without thinking I was writhing around in enjoyment. To think that being called 「Senpai」by a cute underclassman girl would give me this much joy. Even now the echo of it that remained in my ears was amazing….
「Well, I’m counting on you from now on then Yama-senpai.」
…… then suddenly, my arm was twisted behind my shoulder by my new classmate. He whispered right into my ear with a voice that showed he knew about my perverted thoughts and my memory was instantly overwritten.
When I then opened my eyes I received a thump on the head by Tetsu-kun. He gave me a glare like a hooligan.
「By.. by the way, Yun-chan. It sort of seemed like you were arguing with the teacher. Is something the matter?」
As I inquired about what happened just now, Yun-chan pursed her lips in a へ shape and started to get mad.
「He scolded me, because I dyed my hair when I was taking a break from school for a while! And then he warned me that my uniform was looking untidy! It’s not even against the school rules, so it pisses me off!」
I don’t know why she took a break from school, but in any case she seemed to have been led down a bad road by Batako-san during that time.
Certainly her hairdo went without saying, and the way she wore her uniform was also giving a punk vibe. Was such a thing okay? As I was thinking this, I tried asking our diligent class representative.
「Yes. Until middle school there are strict guidelines for how to wear your clothes, but starting with high school there is quite a lot of leniency in freedom of choice. This is the case no matter which school you go to. It seems like they want to give students more responsibility.」
When she told me like this, I realized that at our school it was not a rare sight to see students that changed up their uniforms. A free school spirit hmm. That reminds me, ever since coming to this island, I feel like I have heard the words 『you own responsibility』a lot.
「By the way, what are you and Tetsu doing?」
「We are giving him a tour of the school.」
「Hmmm」Yun-chan muttered.
「Hey, Tetsu. Is it okay if I tag along?」
Tetsu-kun looked at Yumeji-san.
「Oh, I don’t mind.」
「Really? Thank you so much! Uh….」
「I am Yumeji. Yumeji Yurika.」
And just like that, with Yun-chan added in, the four of us went around the school. There were surprised noises made by me( whose tour on the first day had been cut short) but everyone as we listened to the explanations.
「Yumeji-senpai, you really know a lot! That’s absolutely amazing!」
Yun-chan soon opened her heart to Yumeji-san. All in all, she seemed like a really amiable girl. Near the end, they were walking around while holding hands.
「You really helped us out today, Yumeji.」
When we returned to our classroom at the end of the school tour, Tetsu-kun gave his thanks to Yumeji-san.
「Oh no, you are welcome.」Yumeji-san said with a smile.
「Tetsu-kun, what will you do now?」
「I was told to go to the teacher’s office after the tour of the school was finished.」
「I’m also coming along then, Tetsu!」
And just like that, we each went our ways.
As she left the classroom with Tetsu-kun, Yun-chan energetically waved at Yumeji-san 「See you later! Yumeji-senpai, Yama-senpai!」it really impacted me.
「Well then, I also have some things to do. So if you’ll excuse me.」
Yumeji-san bent her head and also left the classroom.
「Man, but that was really surprising.」
To think that Tetsu-kun would come to our school as a transfer student. And Yun-chan being my underclassman. It was a small world… or rather a small island.
