Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 6 Chapter 6.2

「Asumi, give me a chance. I can’t accept how things are right now.」

Asumi listened to everyone’s reasons, folded her arms, and contemplated it all before making a decision.

「Misao-kun, Give me all the coins.」

「Ah, okay.」

After receiving them, Asumi took out the remaining four coins from her bag.

「Haruto and I will head to the castle first. I gave all the remaining coins to Taisei. So, you can gain the 20 coins you need and catch up to us with either Misao or Kuroko.」

「Mokeke」, Kuroko laughs at Asumi’s decision.

「Chairwoman, I think you should choose Misao. A loser’s revenge is seriously KY. (Kowai, or scary). Besides, as I said earlier, I’m not sleepy today, so I don’t think I’ll be able to use my Nanana collection.」

Asumi nods.

「It’s settled. I’m counting on you Taisei.」

「Yes, leave it to me.」

「But the worst case scenario is …well you know.」

「Ah, if it’s not going to be possible I’ll head out on my own. It’ll be bad for Misao though.」

「You don’t have to worry about that Tai-chan.」

Asumi, Taisei and Misao nod at each other. Kuroko who was watching this laughed, ‘Mukeke’, and Haruto grinned saying, 「Well, I don’t mind this kind of excitement.」

「Let’s go Haruto.」

「I’ll accompany you Asumi.」

After seeing Asumi and Haruto off to the castle, Taisei and his friends immediately looked around at the other participants.

「I mean, even if you try your hardest, there’s no one who would battle Taisei is there?」

As Kuroko pointed out, there is no guarantee that we will find when we couldn’t find them before.

「Maybe they’ll come around.」

「Then I’ll be your opponent.」

The three of them turned around when they heard a voice.

A man wearing glasses appeared.

「Aren’t you…?」

「Nice to meet you, my name is Isshin Yuiga.」

「Isshin Yuiga… I’m pretty sure you are the current manager of Juugo’s adventure club.」

「That’s right 《The Strategist》 Taisei Amagi-kun.」

「Are you going to battle me even knowing that I’m 《The Strategist》?」

「Of course.」

「How many coins do you have right now?」

「Eight coins.」

Hearing this, Taisei grinned and looked won at his bag.

「I have 12. We don’t need to play any more games. This is winner takes all.」

「Sounds good to me. What battle area do we use?」

「I’ll leave it up to you. Let’s just play a game.」

「There’s plenty of time.」

「We were in a desperate situation because no one wanted to deal with us. If we were to get too demanding with negotiations at this point we’d be in big trouble. You must have a lot of confidence that you will win if you are willing to battle me, such an infamous person, don’t you President Yuiga-san?」

「If you don’t win then you can’t move on, and it’s the same for me. And to be honest, I want to battle you because Ikusaba-san considers you the best in the world.」

「You know how well regarded I am, and you are trying to get a win against me?」

「You have to beat the best to be the best.」

「Okay then, let’s do it.」

「Is that President Yuiga and Taisei?」

It was on the way to the castle that I saw the two of them walking together.

「What’s up Juugo?」

「Sorry Tetsu-kun. You go on ahead. I’ll be right there.」

I could hear Tetsu-kun saying ‘Hey Juugo’ as I ran after them.

「What the heck? Is that Juugo?」

President Yuiga gave me a half hearted wave as a greeting. I thought it was just Taisei and President Yuiga, but Imawano-san and one other person were watching from a distance.

「Hey Taisei. Could it be that you are going to battle with Yuiga-san?」

「Oh. It seems that I’ll be dealing with your director.」

「Well before that, let me borrow President Yuiga for a bit.」

Saying that, and without waiting for Taisei’s reply, I called out to President Yuiga.

「Can I have a moment? I need to ask you something.」

「I heard about Yun-chan from Tetsu-kun.」

I talk with President Yuiga away from Taisei and the others.

President Yuiga, who seems to have guessed everything nodded and said, 「I see.」

「So what do you want to ask me Yama-kun?」

「President Yuiga, did you know what would happen to Yun-chan if you made it known that she was a leprechaun?」

Clenching his fist, he looked at me and closed his eyes as if he was deep in though. Then he started to speak quietly.

「I knew that the 《game》 would be held when I pointed out the 《contradiction》. However I didn’t expect Yoshino-san to commit such a violent act. I was also surprised that she would be standing in front of us as the organizer of this event.

「Is that the truth?」

「If I had known there was a risk of me being stabbed, I would not have questioned Yoshino-san alone.」

「The reason you did that was because you were trying to get information about the leprechauns from Yun-chan right?」

In response to my point, President Yuiga nods with a wry smile and says, 「That’s exactly right.」

「You sound like a great detective Yama-kun.」

「Please don’t say that in front of Tensai. It’ll make me look even more conspicuous.」

I can almost see Tensai yelling, 「No, I’m the great detective!」

I continued.

「On top of that, it seems like the reason you tried to cover up the incident of your injury was because you wanted a slight edge for winning the 《game》.」

「Yeah, but I’m not sure it was very effective.」

With a somewhat self-deprecating smile on his face, President Yuiga looks up at the starry night sky and mutters to himself.

「What happened can never be reversed. The question is what to do after that point.」

「? That’s a cool line isn’t it?」

「This is like your family mottos Yama-kun. Except this one I’m teaching you.」

「A lesson?」

「It’s hard for me to say this myself Yama-kun, but I often make mistakes. More than others, everything from the simple to the irreversible. And I have regret. If only I had done that, or done this instead. But even if I have regret, nothing will change. I can no longer change what has been done.」

「…because what happened can never be reversed?」

President Yuiga nods.

「So after I learned this lesson, I thought about things. Explore and make choices that are right for me. …That’s why I tried to cover up the accident that had occurred unexpectedly. Even though I felt sorry for Yoshino-san, I did it for myself.」

「To win the prize of the 《game》?」

President  Yuiga nodded and said with a wry smile, 「It would be great if I could do that.」

「You feel bad for Yun-chan, right?」

「Of course. I wanted to apologize in my own way. I’m not bragging, but I’ve never made a woman sad in my life.」

「Yeah, that’s a lie, isn’t it?」

「Haha, looks like I can’t lie as well as you can Yama-kun.」

I had stopped wanting to punch him, but I wonder why I feel like punching him again now.

In any case, I understand what President Yuiga is thinking. That’s why…

「For now I believe Yun-chan.」

「For now, huh?」

「After all President Yuiga, you would betray me without a second though right?」

「No comment.」

「So for now I’ll believe you from the past.」

「The past.?」

「At least you when you said, ‘People don’t lose their dreams’.」

President Yuiga burst into laughter when he heard this.

「What is it?」

「No, don’t feel bad for telling me that Yama-kun. The fact that you remembered those words means that I was able to influence you in some way.」

「Haha, I’m surprised. Apparently I have now grown to the point where I can make not only women, but also Yama-kun bashful.」

「What are you bragging about?」

「…you remember some really embarrassing things.」

It was the first time I was betrayed by President Yuiga, when I went to get the 《magician’s wand》. As I faced him, President Yuiga declared, 「People never lose their dreams」, and I looked down at him because his ambitions failed and said, 「That’s it?」.

「Yama-kun, I’m grateful to you as well. Because of that event, I was able to change again.」

「President Yuiga.」

「So I’m really happy. I’m glad you remembered my words.」
