Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 6 Chapter 7.1
Episode 7: Announcing the Results
1
「First of all, congratulations to everyone for clearing the first stage」, M compliments us.
The place the gorokuma had led us to was a room inside the castle.
As we can see, the inside of the castle in the center of Sevens Land is a truly medieval structure, with extremely elaborate designs on the pillars, walls, and floors. If you said something like, ‘hmmm, I like this Rococo style’, you wouldn’t be too far off.
The participants who cleared the first stage sat on the chairs that were around a round table set up in this large room. Considering the total number of coins circulated at the first stage it would not be surprising if there were 15 people here, but there were only nine.
To start with, Organizer M (Yun-chan) who had been sitting in a chair, gets up and looks around at all the participants here.
Next to her is the beautiful Onesama, Yukihime Fugi.
Asumi Nishi, the student council president who started the Seventh High School Community.
Next is a mysterious foreigner, Neidhard D. Polnareff. (pseudonym)
My partner Tsujimi Tetsunoshin is here, also known as the prince with a sword attached to his waist.
There is this wildly handsome guy… oh wait, it’s me.
Tensai Ikkyuu the famous detective seems to be in a grumpy mood.
Hiiyo Ikusaba has a fearless expression.
Also there some girl that looks like a princess. From what I heard earlier, Ageha Kachou.
「Now, everyone please put the coins you earned on the table.」
After saying this M began stacking up the twenty coins she had on the round table.
What? To get into the castle I had to show that bossy gorokuma earlier that I had 10 coins right?
Even though I thought it was strange I followed the orders anyways.
Almost everyone at the table had 10 coins, except for M who had collected 20 coins by holding the winning strategy workshop. Well that’s not so surprising.
Then M looks around at the stacks of coins in front of the participants and said something crazy.
「Now, we will announce the bonus for clearing the first stage.」
「Bonus?」
Eh? What is this? I couldn’t help but be confused.
「The coins you have. This is the number of coins you will start the second stage with.」
Almost everyone present was shocked by the sudden important announcement. And it didn’t end there.
「As you smarties have probably figured out by now, the more coins you have in the second stage, the better you’ll be able to fight. So I would like to rank the players by the number of coins they earned in the first stage and give out bonus coins to give them an advantage in the second stage.」
「Wait a minute Yu…M. We haven’t been told anything about this.」
「Right, I didn’t tell you that until now.」
M simply brushed off the complaint that came out of my mouth out of surprise.
「If I would have known it would be like that I would have played the first stage differently though.」
「I see, I didn’t think of that. I’m sorry.」
M gives an apology that she obviously doesn’t mean. Well, that’s how it’s going to be.
So I can only assume that the reason why she made the other participants present their coins and then announced the bonus was because she was sure that she would benefit the most from it.
Is it really okay for someone to do something so blatantly unfair when they are the organizer?
「So how much do I receive as a bonus?」
The person who asked this was Ikusaba, who placed twelve coins on the table.
「You are in second place right? Competitors with the same number of coins will have the same rank.」
「I see. So how many coins will first place get?」
M smiled at Ikusaba-san, who was glaring at her as if he was thinking, ‘just how many coins do you plan on giving yourself M?’.
「Well since you asked about first place, that’d be the winner of the first stage. In order to honor this achievement, it would be appropriate to give that person 30 coins.」
「Wow, 30 pieces!?」, I couldn’t help but cry out.
「Second place should get…. 5 coins. And three coins should be fine for third place.」 M says while glancing at Ikusaba’s coins.
What the heck with the way that bonus is handed out though? There is way too much of a gap between first place and the rest right?
Thinking this, I turned my attention to the coins piled up in front of everyone.
Out of everyone, after M in first is Ikusaba with 12 coins. Third place is Kachou-san with 11 coins. And everyone else had exactly 10 coins.
Whatever the case may be, it will be that at the beginning of the second stage, M will have 50 coins. The other players will have less than 20 coins, and most of them only have 10. This is an overwhelming advantage. I don’t know the details of the second stage yet, but I can only imagine it is hopeless from this coin differential.
This situation has everyone silently staring daggers at M, but she is just smiling.
「What’s wrong everyone? Do you have any complaints?」
Even with her saying that, with all the gorokuma behind her baring their fangs there was no way I could say anything back.
After all, M makes the rules for this game.
「Hmph, it really stings now that I couldn’t win that last battle.」
As Tensai predicted, M (who only had one coin at the start of the first stage) now has a lead on a tier all by herself. I didn’t realize that as the organizer, being able to know the rules ahead of time and manipulate them at her will would give her such an overwhelming advantage.
There is no doubt that the biggest threat in this game is for sure Organizer M.
Can we really defeat M and win this 《game》?
「Can I say one thing, M?」
Even though I was feeling anxious, it was Ikusaba-san that spoke up.
「What is it?」
「Are you sure about this?」
「? About what?」
「The bonus for second place. I feel like 5 coins is a bit small. Wouldn’t about 10 coins be better?」
Ikusaba-san said this with a straight face, as if he was completely serious. I couldn’t help but be surprised.
Huh? Ikusaba-san, what are you saying all of a sudden? When you are talking about the second place bonus, that’s the bonus you are getting right?
M also had a surprised face. Then she burst out laughing. ‘Pupupuuu’
「What are you talking about? You shouldn’t be talking like that so seriously because you want more bonus coins.」
M, or rather Yun-chan, started giggling. From the way she is speaking it seems that this is not scripted, but Yun-chan’s true words.
「No, I’m being serious?」
「It doesn’t matter if you complain. Second place is five coins.」
「Absolutely?」
「Yes, absolutely.」
「For real?」
「Stop asking! Second place is getting 5 coins, absolutely 5! That’s how it was going to be from the beginning! It’s not like I decided to be mean to you because you were in second place and decided it would be 5!」
Uh yeah. It’s obvious that Yun-chan did decide because of her biases.
Hearing M‘s angry words, Ikusaba-san, who had both his hands in his pockets, grinned and leaned back in his chair.
「Well well, I’m getting a lot of hate here.」
「If you aren’t sure why try asking your heart.」
「I was only asking you out of kindness though.」
「? What are you getting at…?」
Jingle Jingle Jingle
That’s when everyone’s eyes went wide.
That’s because Ikusaba-san took his hands out of his pockets and held them over the tabletop, which caused a rain of coins to fall.
The coins falling from his hands rolled on the tabletop.
「I was asking because I got 30 coins in the first stage and I’m ranked first. That’s why I wanted to get absolute confirmation of the bonus for second place M. That’s why I asked. M, is it okay that you will only get a bonus of 5 coins?」
**************************************************
「W..what do you mean!」
「Why does Ikusaba-san have so many coins?」
Coins were thrown onto the tabletop by Ikusaba, and the little Saki’s in Saki’s (also known as M) head were in chaos.
「OK, calm down! For now, let’s organize this information!」
At the advice from one of the little Saki’s, Saki said ‘ha’ and asked the other little Saki’s in her head.
「Did any of the little Saki’s witness Ikusaba’s battles in the first stage?」
「Yes, I did!」
「I also did!」
「Yeah, me too!」
「Why yes, me too!」
A bunch of little Saki’s raise their hands one after another.
Seeing this, Saki realized a flaw.
She didn’t organize all this information that she accumulated.
