Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 7 Chapter 7.2

I couldn’t shake this impossible possibility that had been floating around my mind since I first saw M earlier.

M and Batako-san are in front of banker Yuiga, who is in charge of the robbery room.

There was no smile on either of their faces. M had a straight face and Batako-san was glaring.

「Now, let’s start the 《forced acquisition game》.」

Batako-san draws a game card from the deck of 2 player games offered by Yuiga the banker, because she is the representative to the team that’s in the lead.

Batako-san makes an annoyed noise as she sees the card she drew.

What was written was 《eleven nervous breakdowns》.

As the two of them faced each other at the designated table number 5, President Yuiga held up a deck of 11 cards. There are 5 pairs of cards with the same pattern and one card with a skull mark.

「You will use these cards for 《eleven nervous breakdowns》. The rules are basically the same as the regular nervous breakdown game. (TN: This is known as memory in the US. Pairs of cards are set faced down and a player turns over a card, then tries to turn over the matching pair. If they correctly do this then they get another turn. If not then it’s the next player’s turn) The key difference is the skull card though. The moment the skull is guessed, the game is over. The number of pairs won up to that point determines the winner.」

In other words, if a skull is suddenly drawn on the first card, the game may end at that moment.

「The number of coins exchanged is determined by the difference in the number of pairs each player has acquired. The basic rate is 10 times the number of laps, so the upper limit this time is 40 coins.」

President Yuiga takes out an hourglass from his breast pocket.

「OK, the negotiation time begins now.」

「What would you like, Sansa?」

Batako-san’s eyes widen as M asks her this.

Wait a minute, did she just say Sansa?

Batako-san laughed happily when she heard this.

「Any number of coins is fine, Nanana. The decision making power lies with you anyways.」

I’m shocked. Batako-san just called M Nanana.

M doesn’t deny it when she is called Nanana. She just grins and holds out a V with her fingers.

「Well then, I’ll do you a big favor and only wager 20 coins.」

With this declaration of M, the game begins.

The first player to go is M, since she was representing the team with the least amount of coins. However, the outcome may have already been decided at this point.

As a result, M turned over ten cards in a row from that point.

Without turning over the skull card or making a single mistake, she was able to match all five pairs on her first turn.

M had an overwhelming victory. More than anything, this incredible luck was proof of the impossible fact of who was in M‘s body.

 

「What the hell? Why are you here?」

As they left the robbery room, Batako-san asked M, or rather Yun-chan… no, Nanana-chan.

「Sansa is mad that this absurdity of getting out.」

「You got out?」

M smiles bitterly while scratching her cheek.

「What the hell is the purpose in coming out here by entering Yun’s body?」

「That’s right, I came to complain to Sansa! Anyway, hurry up and go home now!」

Batako-san grins at the cat eared mask, who then hisses like a real cat.

In response to that M, or rather Nanana, grinned back.

Batako-san laughs at Nanana-chan’s declaration. They looked like they were having fun.

「This is interesting. Now that you’ve shown up, I’m not going to hold back from here on out.」

As if everything up to that point had been a game, Batako says, ‘I’m looking forward to it’, as she goes off on her own.

So I took this opportunity to talk to her, 「Um so, you’re Nanana-chan?」

When I asked that, M smiled.

「Seriously!? Juugo is so stupid. I’m not Nanana! I’m totally the mysterious masked beautiful girl M.」

「No no. No matter how you look at it, that manner of speaking is definitely Nanana-chan right?」

「Girls don’t like guys who are too persistent.」

「Ok, I’ll shut up.」

「Good.」

No, I can confirm it’s her after that exchange.

Nanana-chan in Yun-chan’s body, left with Nishi-san from who was her teammate.

As I watched her back as she walked away, I found myself smiling at the feeling Nanana-chan had expressed.

At the same time I also feel a sense of relief.

It’s probably because Nanana-chan’s reason for wanting to go outside was not to find the person that killed her.

「Tetsu will rescue Yun, so I don’t need to do anything.」
