Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Prologue

Summary of the story to this point.

The <<game>> put on by the leprechaun has begun. The prize for winning is the rare Nanana collection piece <<Sword of Nanana>>.  In order to get their hands on this, over 30 people who had the qualifications to participate, including Yama Juugo, Tensai Ikkyu, and Yuiga Isshin have gathered.

Then, at the meeting place (a plaza in the middle of the night) the organizer of this <<game>> M appeared. Her true identity was Yoshino Saki, who had stabbed Isshin then disappeared. M tells the participants that she will also be taking part in this game, and if she wins, she will confiscate the Nanana collection items of all the participants.

The <<game>> is taking place in the theme park <<Sevens Land>> before it has even opened.

The first stage was a battle royale in which participants competed against each other to steal coins in battle areas set up around the park. The condition for passing was to keep collecting coins until they had 10 or more within a one hour time limit. The rule was that each person can freely use their own Nanana collection, the most skilled players won match after match.

There were upsets such as Amagi Taisei not passing because of Isshin’s strategy. In total 9 people made it through the first stage.

Yama Juugo plans to use the power of the Nanana Sword to peer into the past of the earthbound spirit Ryuugajou Nanana and uncover the person who murdered her.

The self-proclaimed great detective, Tensai Ikkyu, joined the group simply because she wants to engage in a fierce battle with her rival Juugo.

Tetsunoshin Tsujimi, a member of the Three Skulls, aims to bring Saki back.

Yukihime Fugi is a member of the gentlemanly thieves <<Matsuri>> and is Juugo’s Childhood friend.

Hiiyo Ikusaba is the former president of the Adventure Club and has fought fierce battles with Juugo and the new Adventure Club members in the past.

Asumi Nishi is the student council president of the 7th High School and plans to expand the community by collecting the Nanana collection reward.

Neidhart D. Polnareff is a member of Asumi’s community and secretly his true identity is Ishval Korunald, the heir to a European aristocratic thief and an old acquaintance of Juugo.

Ageha Kachyou is a mysterious young lady who used brilliant wit to win the first stage without even having a match.

And then there is the organizer M who is played by Saki Yoshino.

Saki had received a secret mission from <<god>>, the mysterious being who controls the leprechauns.

That mission was to participate in the <<game>> as one of the participants and win.

As a penalty for the other losing participants, their Nanana collections will be confiscated. As for if Saki fails, her contract as a leprechaun will be terminated and she will be returned to the brink of death again.

As the participants’ various intentions mix, outside Sevens Land two powers are vying for power. These powers are Shiki Maboro (honorary Advisor of the Nanaejima General Security) and Sansa Kurosu (Leader of the Three Skulls of Tsukuyomi-gai). The battle between Sansa (who is plotting to invade and intervene in the <<game>>) and Shiki (who is trying to stop her) has come to a standstill after a fierce clash.

Despite the turmoil outside, the second stage begins in the royal castle at the center of Sevens Land. Moreover, the ones running this round is not M, but the TV staff on Nanaejima’s local TV station (NNA), who know nothing at all about the Nanana collection or the <<game>>. What’s more, the whole thing is being broadcast live on TV.

First, the nine contestants were divided into four teams for a <<Doki Doki Love Attack>> segment where they confessed their feelings and choose their partners. Then they were made to change into the cosplay costumes that were prepared to them.

The Great Detective Team with Tensai as the great detective, and Ikusaba as the phantom thief.

The Sakura team with Yukihime in a female student uniform from the Taisho era, and Haruto in a retro military uniform.

The Young Lady Team with Ageha in a gorgeous European style dress, Juugo in a black suit, and Tetsunoshin also in a black suit.

And the Cat Ears Team with Asumi in cat ears and M also in cat ears and a mask.

The live broadcast finally began and the rules for the second stage were announced. The second stage is a table top game of <<sugoroku de pon>> played by the four teams, and a <<forced acquisition game>> with coins at stake that occurs when multiple teams land on the same square.The top two teams from this stage will advance to the third stage.

Furthermore, they are under the constraint of a secret rule announced in advance by M ‘if anyone who doesn’t know about the Nanana collection finds out about it, they will be immediately disqualified’. They participants continue to think battle hard as they go through the competition.

The second stage started off fairly smoothly, but things were thrown into disarray when Sansa Kurosu suddenly appeared on the scene, replacing Tetsunoshin. Sansa used the <<forced acquisition games>> to completely crush Yukihime and Ikusaba and steal a large amount of their coins. This gave the Young Lady Team an overwhelming lead. It was a completely one sided game to that point. However there was a certain person who was outraged by this. It was Ryuugajou Nanana, who was watching the live broadcast from room 202 of the Happiness Dorm.

With the power of <<God>>, Nanana borrowed the body of Saki (who was disguised as M) and invaded the match, fighting to take away the advantage Sansa gave.

The ultra high level battle ended just as Nanana had hoped, with the four teams coin totals basically reset and there being no significant difference in the amount they all had.

Sansa was angry, but Juugo was plotting something and suggested that she retreat. After speaking with Nanana, Sansa and Nanana both left.

At that time, Tetsunoshin and Saki, who had returned in the places of Sansa and Nanana, exchanged words but their feelings were not exactly in sync.

Thus the second stage has finally entered its home stretch.

It’s under these circumstances that Juugo speaks in front of all the participants.

“I have a suggestion for all of you.”
