Episode 1 “Thread to watch over newcomers who debuted this month”

That day, when I was eating alone in the guild cafeteria, a shorty I’ve seen before came over. This is the one I talked to when I was standing in line in front of the Labyrinth City. Her name is… come to think of it, I haven’t asked.

Tsuna 「… Hello」

The events in between were so intense so I almost forgot, but in reality, it’s only been four days since we met. We were lined up in that queue to become an adventurer here, so it’s no surprise meeting her again.

?? 「So you did make it into this city. Can I sit with you? I want to ask a few things.」

Tsuna 「Yeah, go on.」

Tsuna 「We didn’t really have the chance to introduce ourselves, I’m Watanabe Tsuna.」

Lyrica 「Lyrica. I have a family name, but just Lyrica is fine. … Um, is Watanabe your given name?」

Come to think of it, outside of this city, family names probably don’t come first. I’ve hardly met anyone with a family name though. I think my local lord and the queer noble had family names come last.

Tsuna 「No, Watanabe is my family name. I mean I’m the only one in the family but still.」

Lyrica 「Oh, that’s unique. So can I call you Tsuna-kun?」

Tsuna 「Kun, san, or nothing, do whatever you like.」

Yuki didn’t even care about how to call me from the start anyway. He said tuna can too.

By the way, we are speaking like this but our conversation is not in Japanese, it’s in the common language used in the kingdom. “Kun” and “san” are just translations of similar titles. Not that I’m explaining to anyone, but just in case.

Lyrica 「Then Tsuna-kun, you’re here so it means your adventurer registration is done, right?」

Tsuna 「Yes」

Lyrica 「Have you tried the Trial Dungeon yet? If you have I want to know what it’s like in there」

The Trial dungeon… I mean it’s a bit late but if you had no information, it makes sense that she won’t think I’ve completed that place.

Tsuna 「Yeah.」

Lyrica 「Oh! I finished my registration process yesterday at last, and the lady at the reception told me that such a test exists. So I’m trying to collect info before I attempt.」

Ah, this normalness sounds good. Yuki, this is what it’s meant to be like. Normally you’d gather as much information as possible and then try. Even if you don’t die, you don’t just register, take a course and immediately start completing a dungeon.

Tsuna 「Are you going alone?」

Lyrica 「Yep, I’ve been alone outside recently, so yeah. If it’s impossible, I’ll find companions though.」

Tsuna 「You’re a wizard right? I don’t really know how you fight, but going alone is an option?」

My image of magicians is that they are vulnerable and take a long time to attack, but also very powerful. From what I’ve heard so far, pure magicians seem to be like that. It seems that it’s a different case to using magic as a sub like the lizard dude.

Lyrica 「For ordinary magicians not really, but since my master changed, I can manage to get around on my own. Of course, I can’t use swords though.」

The ordinary magician is probably what I imagined. Maybe she isn’t just different, she’s simply strong. I couldn’t tell really when we were in that queue, but when talking to her face to face like this, it becomes obvious. You can sense that she is strong.

It’s not the unrealistic levelled strength that I have faced so far, more of a proper, extreme strength. She must have had a lot of experience outside. It’s just that the guys I’ve encountered so far were so strange, but I feel a little relieved meeting a normal strong person like this. She’s also small.

Tsuna 「If you were an adventurer outside, you can defeat orcs, right? If you can fight orcs alone, you’ll be fine up to the 3rd floor. 4th floor onwards is also about luck, so I can’t say anything.」

As Yuki said, if you’re an alright adventurer by outside standards who can defeat orcs, there shouldn’t be any problems up to the 3rd floor. After that, the lizard dude was clearly not a normal examiner, and Mino’s very existence seems to be a secret in the first place. There’s not much advice to give.

Lyrica 「…Okay. Wait, did you go to the 4th floor? I’ve heard the final floor is the 5th so you’re almost done right? That’s fast.」

Tsuna 「Nah, I’m already done.」

Lyrica 「…… What?」

Tsuna 「I’m currently waiting for my debut to be processed.」

Lyrica 「Huh? Um, how did that happen… It’s only been 4 days since we met at the gate right? The receptionist said it normally takes six months to complete the dungeon.」

Tsuna 「Apparently it’s the fastest record. Yuki and… I conquered it with my friend behind me in the queue, so it’s not really my own record.」

Lyrica 「Eh, okay…?」

This is fun, I feel like a reincarnated in a different Ore Tueee protagonist that I gave up on. Be as surprised as you can. Hahaha. … To be honest the last two fights and the bonus one was quite a narrow win, so I wasn’t Ore Tueee-ing at all.

Tsuna 「Now then! Ask me anything since I’ve completed the Trial Dungeon!」

Lyrica「Hm, you suddenly became bossy. I’m fine though! I’ll complete it soon too!」

It’s a secret that it takes at least a month to debut since there is no course even if she completes it.

Tsuna 「In reality it’s just a starting point, and there’s an extreme gap between the people who are above me so I’m pretty much at loss now.」

For us, there were many events such as completing the 10th floor of the Infinite Corridor and the newcomer battles, so I don’t really remember much about the trial.

Ah, the receptionist said there will be a video editing meeting the day after tomorrow too. I almost forgot.

Lyrica 「I see… I felt like there was a massive wall in front of me, but when you think of it, it is somewhat like an entrance for us. It shouldn’t be that bad.」

Is that so though. I don’t know how strong adventurers are in general, but if I was asked to complete the dungeon like that when weakened, I won’t be too confident.

Lyrica 「Then, if I get stuck, getting help from you is not an option?」

Tsuna 「I’m not too sure … I don’t know how the rules work so I can’t say anything, but I guess I’ll be treated as a companion. … Oh but I’ve heard that’s an intermediate job. If you think about it generally, it’s probably best to go with other rookies who haven’t completed the place yet.」

Considering the mechanism, it could be impossible to accompany even as a companion.

Tsuna 「If we were to conquer a dungeon together, even if everything went smoothly, it’ll be when we reach rank F.」

Lyrica 「Rank Efu?」

Tsuna 「It’s a type of letter used here that represents the rank of an adventurer. Tomorrow or the day after, I will become rank G, and F is above that. Then it goes E, D, C, B, and A. Apparently, each rank is subdivided into + and – but I don’t know the details yet.」

Lyrica 「Ooh, so there is such a rating. It’s different to outside, like the place I’m from was quite random.」

As I heard somewhere, there seems to be no such rating outside.

As far as I know, there is no rank S that’s often set above rank A. Since the strongest people are at rank A, Maybe they’ll be rank S once they reach the 100th floor. By the way, Philos and the others have already become rank G. Yuki and my rank up procedure is taking more time since we completed the dungeon at the last minute.

I have a lot of documents to sign today too; come to think of it, I’ve signed so many papers since my debut course. I’m so glad I didn’t forget Japanese.

With such a schedule, we don’t have much free time. So, even now, Yuki is out shopping for basic things in need. Like a hairbrush and a facial cleanser and stuff.

Tsuna 「Lyrica, do you have a goal in mind?」

Lyrica 「Well, actually, not really … After my Grandma… my master died, my goal was to manage living alone, but I am basically a full-fledged adventurer now. … Hm, this city is impressive in so many ways, so I guess I’ll aim to live here permanently. I’m not sure what the cost of living and the income of an adventurer is like though. What about you?」
