Volume 1 Chapter 3 Part 7

The poison was indeed gone from his system, but the master of the workshop must have been quite exhausted after everything he just went through, so he did not wake up immediately. Siluca checked his breath one more time, and it was still as calm as it was before.

「It is all right, you can come back now… 」

Siluca called Theo and the others.

「Your master should be alright now, but just to be on the safe side, I think you should allow him to sleep undisturbed until he wakes up. His burns have been healed, but for the next few days he should not work at all and focus on recovering as much as possible. Thankfully, none of his internal organs have been damaged, so you should feed him some nutritious food in order to speed up the recovery process. I will also give you some medicine, so if he ever came down with a high fever, give it to him and it should subside. 」

Siluca instructed the apprentices and handed them powdered medicine wrapped in paper. Since there are things that even magic is not going to be able to heal, it was also important for Mages to know their way around various forms of medicine, and fortunately for them, the basic knowledge of pharmacology was one of the things that was taught to the students of Magic University’s Red Faculty.

「T-Thank you very much! 」

The apprentices bowed to Siluca, almost as if they wanted to start worshiping her. Siluca simply smiled back at them and thanked them for all the work they have been doing for them so far.

「I really don’t know how we can thank you as well, our Lord, for coming all the way here along with Miss Mage! 」

Hearing the apprentices’ words, Theo nodded with a smile and knocked on the door to encourage them, and then he turned back to Siluca.

「Thank you for your hard work as well. Do you perhaps feel tired now? 」

Siluca shook her head, but the truth was that she was indeed quite tired, because she used an advanced magic in order to heal the blacksmith workshop owner’s injury.

「I’m more concerned about that… 」

Siluca  said as she stared at the remains of the furnace that exploded, causing this entire incident to begin with.

「Huh? What’s wrong with that? 」

Theo chased after Siluca’s line of sight.

「No. I mean, everything should be fine if the furnace exploding was just a one-time only accident, but if the Chaos is going to converge around it once again… 」

「Does that mean the accidents with it might not end with just that one? 」

That would be a Chaotic disaster, not a Chaotic accident. As long as the Chaos Core is not dispersed, there is a possibility that exactly the same accident might occur in the future.

「For some reason, the air  around here feels lukewarm and unpleasant. You might want to be careful around here. 」

「No way… 」

「Okay, I’ll take a look around, but just to be on the safe side, we should mobilize the soldiers around here and be prepared for all kinds of emergencies. 」

「I will see to it right away. 」

Irvin quickly entered the forge from outside and bowed to Theo. At this point Theo has already gotten used to him appearing out of the blue like that, so he was not surprised at all.

「Call Aishela here as well. 」

Siluca called out to Irvin as well.

「Understood. 」

Irvin nodded and disappeared into the darkness again. Theo and Siluca also left the blacksmith’s workshop and went around the houses in the village where the lights have completely disappeared at this hour of the night.

Siluca used her magic to light up the tip of her magic wand, and with that light, she checked the state of the miniature Chaos Globe attached to the magic wand. White light and black mist-like darkness were mixing together to create a complex pattern. The darkness looked to be a little thicker than the light, but its movement was steady and not at all erratic.

The High concentration of Chaos was definitely high, but its condition seemed to be stable, but since Siluca was worried that the Chaos might have already converged into Chaos Core somewhere around here, she turned her attention to the surrounding area while illuminating it with her wand as much as possible.

And before long, Irvin arrived together with Aishela and the rest of the soldiers.

「How is it? 」

Aishela was dressed in her trademark silver armor. On her shoulder was the Cait Sith Balgary.

「Don’t you feel anything, Your Highness? 」

Siluca asked Balgary.

She nodde at the Fairy Cat, causing his nose to twitch toward the darkness.

「It certainly stinks… No, this is the smell of the leftovers from somebody’s dinner somewhere. I have to say though, grilled fish dipped in soup is quite a gourmet meal if I ever seen one… but no, I know that this is beside the point here. What really bothers me here is the smell of the burning firewood. Normally it should be more pleasant and somewhat sour, but this… 」

The next moment Balgary appeared to be grinning with his teeth bared. However, that grin was not the one caused by laughter or good humor, but it was the one of disgust caused by him catching wind of some really foul and pungent smell.

「Over there! Hurry up!!! 」

Balgary pointed his finger at a house that loomed in the shadow in the distance. He did so with only one of his claws sticking out, the one on the finger with which he pointed the direction for the rest to go.

After Siluca looked at Theo and the others, she ran as fast as she could towards it. However, the next moment, a bright red flash ran ahead of the two’s eyes, and an explosive sound resounded around the entire area.

At the same time Aishela soared into the air, and Balgary, who had perched on Aishela’s shoulder, was thrown off toward the roof of the house, which was bursting with flames and smoke, and landed on his four limbs with a short howl. Then Aishela stood up straight as if nothing had happened and casually shook the dust off of her attire.

「Lucerne Hammer, please lend me your strength! 」

Shouting as if she was praying to her weapon, Aishela swung it down towards the roof of the house which was supposed to be her original landing point. The blow broke the roof to bits, and Aishera rushed into the house with the momentum that carried her forward. After a short while, Aishela flew up into the air again from where the roof was torn apart. In her arms were two small children.

「well done! 」

Theo let out a shout of joy. Other members of the household tumbled out of the door not long after Aishela safely evacuated the children.

「Is there anyone else left in there? 」

Siluca asked the owner of the house.

「N-No, that’s all of us. 」

The man looked around, counted the members of his family and nodded.

「What in the world happened there? 」

「Chaos! That’s what happened! 」

The man cursed under his breath.

「The firewood in the furnace suddenly flared up violently and then exploded. Luckily there was no one nearby when it happened, so nobody got hurt… 」

「It’s  exactly the same as what happened at the blacksmith’s workshop. This incident is by no means an accident then. Something definitely must have caused it. 」

Siluca spoke the thoughts in her head out loud.

「Lord Theo! 」

Siluca looked back at Theo.

「What is it? 」

「Order your soldiers to go and tell the villagers not to use fire for a while. And also tell them that they should not be using any torches or lanterns either! And please, whatever they do, tell them to not put out the fire in their houses. Tell them to leave it exactly as it is! As for the people wholived in this house, let’s have them evacuate to the castle and have them live their until this house gets rebuild. 」

「Okay, I got it! 」

Theo answered and gave instructions to the soldiers just like Siluca requested.

「As expected, you are as reliable as ever. 」

Theo said so and put his hand on Siluca’s shoulder.

「Thank you for your kind words. 」

Nevertheless, Siluca was surprised and stared at Theo’s hand on her shoulder.

「Don’t! I swear, even if you are a Lord, Lord Theo, then if you do not get your hand off of Siluca right now, your head is going to fly! 」

Aishela rushed over and separated Theo’s hand from Siluca’s shoulder..

「I am sorry, but what was that about whose head flying? 」

「Phew, that is one danger avoided… 」
