Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 10
(All this time, you never asked about the circumstances around Sephra nor have you asked a single question about your real father or your mother. Don’t you wish to know why all of this started?)
Orberus’s question echoed in Kazuki’s head.
Kazuki honestly didn’t know himself. He had no memory of his real father and mother, no attachment no feelings. He felt nothing towards these shadows of familial bond. At the same time, Kazuki was persecuted, dragged through the worst of the worst, and made to suffer. Not because of his own actions and sins but because of others.
As he was lost in thought, Nunully’s voice softly called out to him.
(Kazuki…Don’t. You’ve finally after all of this time managed to kill Fera once and for all. Later when Orberus is powerful enough he will finish off Sephra. The thing you’ve sought out all this time, your revenge, shouldn’t it end with that. If you go down this rabbit hole, won’t you only open more wounds? When will this ever end? Can’t you be done with it? Can’t you come back home and…live? Live with me, live with Asuna, together.)
Asuna jumped in a little more aggressively.
(Nunully is right Kazuki. Look at where we are? This is a place, a Realm where Gods rule everything. Getting involved anymore is only going to end with you trying to find the hidden danger around every corner, the new enemy. How long until it all ends. Another decade, a hundred years, or maybe a thousand? Who else do you need to kill until you are satisfied? Do I and Nunully mean so little to you? Are you telling us to wait for an eternity just so you can face some enemy you knew nothing about a few minutes ago? Even if I don’t have a body if you say the wrong thing I’ll kick your ass if I have to.)
Asuna then went over to Kazuki’s soul tree and started kicking it. Her soul was far too weak to cause any harm to Kazuki and this only made him laugh which in turn made her hit his soul tree even harder.
(Kazuki, you know how I and Asuna feel about you. No matter what you choose, that will not change but please don’t think that our feelings are mere scraps that can be pushed aside for your every whim. That’s not the Kazuki I know.)
(No forget that bullshit! Kazuki you better not
Asuna was saying something when Nunlly muffled her.
Kazuki was undecided but only for a moment. Whoever his parents were, no matter how it all started, it didn’t change the fact that he had no feelings toward his real parents. He understood that he felt that way because he lost that chance to have such a relationship and that was because of Sephra. Even then, he still didn’t wish to know about them. The way he felt now if there really was more hurt to be opened up once he knew, what was the point.
Fera was already dead and Sephra was imprisoned and would eventually be killed. It was burning him inside that he couldn’t be the one to remove her head from her body but there was nothing he could do. Stepping into a new world with Demigods and Gods, this was not a place for him.
(I only got half of my revenge but seeing the look on Sephra’s face when I killed Fera, knowing she will live with that until her dying day, it’s almost worth it. Orberus, I’ve told you my conditions. Lin and Alutra. Let them be free, return me to Gordonia, and never come anywhere near that Lower Realm ever. I want no other contact from you or anyone else from the family.)
(Really. I thought you would ask for a sacred treasure or maybe even a way to return to that small world Earth. I know that’s your friend’s home world and surely they would like to return, right?)
Kazuki eyed Orberus and could see right through him.
(You don’t have the power to return anyone to Earth.)
Orberus smiled mischievously.
(Hehe, nope. I just wanted to see your reaction but to think it would be this disappointing. To send someone to a Lower Realm you have no idea where the location is, that is nearly impossible, at least for a god at my level.)
(You don’t know where Earth is? How is that possible when Daisius is the one who sent me there and you were the one who guided me to where the summoning circle was in that school so I could return to Gordonia?)
(This and that are different. When I had Daisius teleport you away from Sephra, I simply told him to find a random world where magical energy was particularly weak. I figured if there was little magic in that world, you would have a better chance of surviving. The number of worlds where the Magic is thin and impure like Earth is at a level nearing in the hundreds of trillions. Daisius simply found it completely at random. As for me guiding you, that was easy because you wore my son’s compass. It contained some of my power so I was connected to it the whole time. I could see exactly where you were in that Lower Realm and because A piece of me was there inside the compass, I knew exactly where planet Earth was located.)
(That doesn’t make sense if you knew exactly where it was located then, should you not know where it is located now…unless…do realms move?)
Orberus nodded.
(Correct boy. Lower Realms, there are nearly an infinite amount of them, each one a small universe to us Gods yet inexplicably they move at seemingly random times. To where, no one can predict, not even the Supreme ones know. Not only do they move at seemingly random times but the amount of energy required to move a near-infinite amount of Lower Realms, where and what type of energy could possibly do it? No one in all the Realms, high or low knows the answer to this. The moment you were transported and returned to Gordonia, I lost Earth’s location completely.)
Asuna heard this and she was devastated. She had never really hoped of ever returning the first time she heard it was basically impossible but hearing these words from an actual god left her numb in some ways. Thoughts of truly never seeing her sister, mother, and father ever again hurt like a mountain crushing down on her heart.
Kazuki knew this and would comfort her later. At the moment he still had to finish things with his grandfather once and for all.
(Since it is pointless to mention Earth and I don’t need a so-called treasure, let’s settle things so I can return.)
(Fine fine fine. You know, I’ve seen your lighter side. I wondered if you’d throw some of that my way but no, all you care about is business. Not an attractive feature grandson, not at all.)
…
Kazuki said nothing and simply stared at Orberus and the silence grew akward.
(Alright whatever. If you only wish for those two to go free fine. Now, teach me how to create my own devouring void and I will hold up my own end.)
Kazuki knew there were no guarantees and he understood that as soon as he showed Orberus how to create the spinning void, Orberus could simply send him away with nothing but Kazuki had no real other option. If he were to actually refuse, maybe Orberus would not send him to a Hell Realm but Kazuki personally witnessed him send his own son to a place of pain and torture. Kazuki could see his fate play out were he to really refuse.
Kazuki glanced at both Alutra and Daisius. Orberus understood right away what Kazuki was thinking and quickly a dark veil of energy covered the both of them. Daisius was confused while ALutra was terrified for Kazuki. At the same time, there was nothing she could do for him.
Inside this dark veil, it was still perfectly lit up.
(Now, show me.)
Kazuki sighed inwardly before showing Orberus exactly how he had done it. He not only showed him what he had done with his power but also he told him his thoughts and feeling at that exact moment. Normally one would not be able to gain much from one’s thoughts and feelings but Orberus was anything but normal. He was a God. When Fera reached the Demigod stage, she could see natural truths of the Lower Realm. Kazuki as well could do the same. When his power grew and grew, it opened his eyes to something completely new in the universe. He didn’t quite understand what this new thing was exactly but it was something akin to an insight of sorts. Kazuki figured if he got that from just being at the 7th stage then what insights could a God receive and so he told him his thoughts and feelings at that moment of void creation.
It only took a fraction of a second to teach this power to Orberus. Once Orberus learned the technique, he immediately snapped his fingers. A rift opened up to that dimension where Lin was taken and out popped some random person.
This person was covered in filth from head to toe in dirt and filth. he wore rags and the rotten smell drifting off of him was gag-inducing.
The person saw Orberus and quickly fell to his knees.
“My lord forgive me. I should not have stolen from you. I was a fool then and and
*Shhh*
“You spoke too much then and after 100 years you still do not know when to cease your babling. Today you will be of service to me. If you are of use, your sins will be forgotten and you will be free.”
The dirty prisoner began to cry.
“Yes my lord, anything, anything!”
