Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 103
The world had become different and anew. With Kazuki seeing over the Realm, peace and prosperity had come. He mostly left Gordonia’s rule under King Brian. With the teleportation gates set up all across the Feya, trade was done freely and without borders. Since all of Feya had become united and Brian ruled over them, things had gone smoothly.
Everyone knew of Asuna and the others who were heroes during the war. They all understood that the heroes had a strength that could overturn the world and because of this, those with thoughts of overthrowing Brian and taking over, these people never dared make a move. Even if they tried, Brian along with those loyal to him had their strength personally raised by Kazuki in an instant.
These people, even if they had thoughts of betraying Brian, they understood where that would lead them. In the end, when it comes to absolute power, you cannot resist. To go against Brian meant going against Kazuki and there was only death waiting at the end of that road.
Kazuki had terraformed the land and made the soil abundant. Along with the crops he made from Zephris’s memories, this made so no one would ever starve again. Even if there was a drought or disease, the special crop he planted would be unaffected.
Kazuki also implemented many resources for the people of this world. He made a talisman that could easily heal the wounded. This talisman could be made out of simple parchment and ink. With a thought, Kazuki sent this information to everyone in the world. Now, even if you could not use magic even if you had no Mage core, as long as you wrote this specific spell the way Kazuki taught it, the talisman would activate. It would gather the necessary energy from its surroundings and then once placed upon a wound, the wound would heal completely.
The severity of the injury did not matter and the person would walk away as if they were never harmed in the first place.
The written magic that people applied to the talisman of course was just one of the ancient hand symbols Kazuki had mastered long ago. Now instead of using one’s hands, you could simply write it down and then heal yourself.
Kazuki had been fearful long ago. The ancient hand symbols could be dangerous if left in the wrong hands, seeing as it would allow anyone who mastered it to use basically any type of magic. Now though the danger was unfounded. He was only giving out this one spell and even if someone was capable of figuring out how to use the rest of the symbols, their power would never surpass Kazuki’s.
There were certain steps that one would either need to be an absolute genius and have a shit ton of resources in order to achieve the later stages or one would need a lot of help from someone at a higher stage than you. Since Kazuki and everyone else at his level were on his side, he held no worry about someone rising up.
Along with the seemingly unending food supply and free healing, Kazuki also made King Brian get rid of nobility. In such a world like this one, Kazuki saw no reason for such titles and unequal power. The only one who had absolute power was him and King Brian was a proxy of his.
Asuna, Sam, Tozu, and everybody else agreed. They were at a level that left them not wanting such authority. After all, their actual power was beyond one small world. They weren’t like Titans and Gods who got pleasure out of tormenting humans and Beasts. Instead, they felt ruling over anything was bothersome. Shaila and Tozu felt this especially.
Before joining with Kazuki, the two ruled over their own island that was full of beasts and people. To them, that place was boring and a nightmare to run. The two liked being free and exploring the most but due to the fact that they had enemies all over and needed to protect their followers, they could not do much. That is why when Kazuki had become their ally, they saw it as an opportunity to run away in a sense.
Tozu left their island to Shaila’s younger brother and Tozu, Shaila, and Sasai gained much-needed freedom. Following Kazuki was full of peril but it was also quite liberating. They traveled all over and witnessed many strange, bizarre, and new things. They drank tasty liquor and ate delicious food. They were literally living their best life and none of them ever wanted to go back and do something so meticulous and strenuous as ruling over anyone ever again.
It wasn’t just these three that felt this way. Everyone else as well didn’t care that Kazuki was in charge. He had led them through life and death too many times to count and in the end, this is where they all ended up at. Stronger than anyone else, travelers of the stars who can go anywhere and do basically anything in this Realm.
Every day was full of joy and laughter. Great food and the company of good friends. If they ever got tired of each other or just wanted some time to themselves, they had the option of traveling millions of miles away through space. They were living their best life.
Now that some news came out about Detra, she and Alutra spent more time together off by themselves. Since the two seemed to have developed feelings toward one another, Danny came to Kazuki and asked.
“Those two are running off by themselves again.”
Kazuki nodded.
“Yep, It’s funny. Nunully and Asuna used to look at Alutra as if they were going to claw at her and with those draconic nails you know that would leave a mark. Now though, they see her more like an eccentric older sister.”
It became quiet between the two before Danny rubbed his chin.
“Since Detra is off with your aunt, I’ve had this thought swirling around for a bit now.”
“Oh. Since you haven’t outright said it yet, it must be serious. Just spit it out. Haven’t we been through more than enough already? Speak.”
Danny stopped rubbing his chin before giving Kazuki a serious stare.
“With Detra doing her own thing there doesn’t seem to be any more need for her to look for her…husband is there? Not just that. Since you have accepted your limitations and have decided to no longer pursue revenge, Don’t you think it’s about time to close the Realm? After all, with neither you nor Detra seeking things outside of the Realm, it would be dangerous to continue to leave it open right?”
Kazuki’s expression didn’t change but he went stone cold silent.
“Kazuki, is anything I said false? Detra’s mind and now her heart is here. Your mind and heart, It’s also here right? Or am I wrong in believing you actually gave up on revenge?”
*Haa*
“Have you even talked to Detra before coming to me with this?”
Danny shook his head.
“I wanted to get your opinion first. After all, Detra isn’t the one who makes the decisions for this Realm, that’s all you.”
Danny cut right through the crap and even if it wasn’t sarcastic it almost came off that way.
“Danny…You know me. You know what’s been done. You tell me. If you were me, would you simply give up after all of this? Not only that we have the Titan Golems now. Were making more and more each day. There’s Lin and Alutra and me. Even if an army of 7th stage beings broke into our Realm, they would all be annihilated before a minute passed. Are you truly that worried about the Realm? Do you have no confidence in me?”
Danny took a step forward and looked directly at Kazuki.
“I do not doubt what you are capable of. If I did, I would have run away from battle many times over already if I couldn’t depend on your strength but you are missing something. This Realm’s protection doesn’t concern me. Your right, with Lin and ALutra, our Realm is already far more protected and well defended than almost any other Lower Realm. With the Titan Golems as well, there is very little a disaster would take place. Even if the Realm was destroyed, with my power, Mei’s, and Tsura’s, I don’t doubt we would survive. It’s not about protection or defense. No, It’s about you.”
Kazuki gave a quizzical look.
“About me?”
Danny nodded.
“With the Realm open it is a burden…A shadow that will weigh over your mind for eternity. You will always think what if. You will always wish to have your revenge to kill Sephra and maybe even your own grandfather with your own hands. As long as the Realm stays open as long as there is even a possibility, you will always be looking ahead instead of looking around you. You would only be looking through those that love you and you would be staring at an invisible intangible enemy that will never fall into your hands. An enemy that you will never equal and never be able to challenge. If the Realm stays open you will never be able o let go and you will never be happy. Because of that, those that care about you will be dragged down in a bog of resentment. [“Why can’t he see me, why can he only think about his hatred and not his love.”] That’s what your loved ones will say. I say this because I feel like we are that close. I never had a brother but I think it would feel like this. I don’t wish to see my brother dragged to the abyss. I don’t want you to continue to suffer in the past and instead move forward with everyone that supports you. So I’m asking you, please brother, close the Realm and let your revenge be buried in the past where it belongs.”
