Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 105
As he was lost in thought, Kazuki flew deeper and deeper into the depths of space. His mind wandered and he was confused and angry for much of it. Time passed and after a while, he no longer knew where he was. Of course, he was still in his Lower Realm but he had never gone this far before. By the time he noticed, it was clear he was lost.
Looking around he could see some stars 10,s of millions of miles away that he thought he recognized. Flying toward them he once more began to think about what Danny had said.
(Even with the odds stacked up against me, even if I make other enemies, there should still be a way to win. Why does Danny doubt that I can succeed? Even father wants me to let it go. Every time I’ve faced death, I’ve managed somehow. Every enemy, every opponent, I could outthink, I found a way to win. My power has grown at a rapid rate and I have climbed this high. I’ll admit not all on my own but still, I’ve come so far. Once I reach the Demigod stage, I’m sure I’ll be able to find a way. Just like now. Everyone else that is at the 7th stage is strong but none of them can compete with me. Would it not be the same for my enemies. We would both be Demigods but I’m sure I would still outclass them.)
Kazuki’s confidence was not just all talk. At least on Gordonia, everyone who was at the same level he was, he could always beat. One of the main reasons for that was because he had a few trump cards.
(With my ki, my strength can be multiplied a few times over. WIth aura strengthening my aura as well can be enhanced a few times over. With layer folding, my aura’s defense can climb greatly and I can even resist Alutra and fathers aura. By combining my aura, magic, and ki a chaotic energy comes together and I can kill anything at the 7th stage with a single death touch. With the aura breath technique, I learned from Zetrazz I can suppress a person’s magic and soul to such a point that if they try to use any power it causes agonizing soul-splitting pain and can even cause irreversible damage and even destroy their soul if I press it enough. In terms of others, I surpass most of them in comprehension along with knowledge. The amount of knowledge I received from Glacious’s magic blood orb and looking into all of Zephris’s memories, who can compete with me!?)
Kazuki understood just how dangerous one of the Higher Realms could be but it’s not like he was just turning a blind eye. He recognized it and was confident he could deal with all of it.
(The Higher Realms have an untold amount of Demigods and Gods. How did they all survive starting out? Am I to believe they can make it but I can’t.)
The more he thought about it, the more confident he became. Once again he took note of his surroundings and looked around. The star he thought he recognized had…changed and was completely different then before.
(Did I turn somewhere…How stupid, I’ve been flying straight this entire time. Even if I did turn, I shouldn’t have gone so far as to become lost in my own Realm.)
Even though Kazuki had not traversed the entirety of this Realm he was confident in not getting lost. After all, he just needed to look at a familiar constellation and he would know exactly which direction to head in, in order to return back to Gordonia. With his senses alone he could cover an entire solar system and then some, so it would actually be incredibly difficult for him to ever become lost around stars that he knew.
Still, there was something off about the area he was in. Taking a look in the distance, once more he spotted a star he recognized, yet again, it was the same distance as the first time he noticed he was lost. Kazuki immediately raised his guard and placed a barrier of aura around him made up of over two thousand folds. He sent out his aura in every direction trying to figure out what was going on.
(Something’s not right. I can’t become lost in my own backyard. The stars as well seem to have moved or changed in some way yet I can’t detect the change.)
Kazuki called out with his mind but he realized that at a certain point his thoughts could not travel past a certain point.
(What is this!?)
Kazuki’s magic, aura nad ki combined and he sent this power into his right hand.
(WHOS IS IT!? WHO DARES TRY AND DECEIVE ME!?)
…
There was no reply. Kazuki though was not buying it.
(FINE! IF YOU DON’T WISH TO COME OUT, THEN DON’T BLAME ME FOR WHAT I’M ABOUT TO DO!)
The death touch energy was already gathered into his fingertips. Once he launched this chaotic energy, it would destroy anything at the same level as Kazuki.
Kazuki clutched his fist and was about to throw a decimating punch but before he did, something caught his attention. Right in front of his eye, a tiny fragment of something released a soft glow and an old voice came forth.
(Please, that isn’t necessary Kazuki.)
The voice was completely unfamiliar. This already set off alarm bells but what was more alarming was the fact that this tiny fragment had somehow bypassed his barrier completely and had been only a few inches from his face. If whatever this fragment was had decided to attack, Kazuki could have taken a direct blow at close range.
While speaking Kazuki instantly established his barrier so it was now coating the surface of his skin. Releasing his aura breath, anything that came too close would be put under heavy pressure and both its magic and soul would be suppressed.
(WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!?)
The voice remained calm but there was obvious fear as an old voice came out once more.
(Have you already forgotten? You and I have met a few months ago though our introduction was brief. Please, I mean no harm, that dangerous power is uncalled for.)
Kazuki was confused.
(We’ve met?)
The tiny fragment glowed softly once more and a small gateway opened and Kazuki could see an entire world inside. A lone figure stood inside this world and Kazuki did in fact recognize the man but he had no name for him.
(You are from that time.)
The old man nodded.
(Yes. When the battle between you and Fera was playing out, the world as well as the Realm itself shook. I really thought it would fall apart at that time but thankfully you killed that nasty witch before the Realm was shattered. When I saw you get sucked up into that beam of light and get taken away, I thought things were over for good but who would have thought you would return shortly afterward and call upon not just me but the others who hid when all that fighting took place.)
Kazuki remembered after returning from the Higher Realm one of the first things he had done was gather up the remaining Titans and hidden experts of the world and set them straight. He basically threatened them to keep in line or he would kill them all. The old man before him was one of these beings. What Kazuki didn’t understand is why this person was so far out in space and how this supposed weaker being had managed to slip past his defenses.
(I remember, you were the being that seemed to be part elf and part something else. Detra also mentioned you later on. You were the one who traded with her. You gave her that strange tree and in exchange, she gave you…time.)
(Detra, if only she could have given me more then maybe things would be different…)
The old man seemed sad after he said this but Kazuki didn’t really pay attention to that. Instead, he was curious about what was going on around him.
(So you were out here. I guess you didn’t want to have to obey another. What I don’t get is how you changed the surroundings. For you to be this skilled that even I took half a second to notice. Not only that you actually managed to slip by my defenses so easily. What are your intentions, old man.)
Even though these words were spoken directly into the old man’s mind, they came off cold and domineering. The old man was terrified and quickly tried to explain himself.
(I swear there was no ill intent. I did not purposefully try and get close to you, rather the natural elements were pulled toward you, and therefore I was as well. As for the surroundings, It’s simply a camouflage of sorts. It’s only meant to hide me, I wasn’t purposefully trying to deceive you. Please, if you come inside we can talk and I’ll explain everything. I’ll tell you everything you want to know, just please don’t take my actions as an offense. I don’t wish to die yet.)
Kazuki found this old man to be quite timid and odd. With this in mind, he decided to enter this tiny world out of curiosity.
