Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 130

(Snowflake.)

Kazuki took this word and it was like a bolt of lightning had struck him as he finally understood Trilia’s meaning.

(The reason I can’t just share your memories is because the soul reading ability is different for everyone.)

Trilia smiled.

(See, I knew you were a clever one Kazuki. One tiny clue and you got it. Though the fact that you needed a clue in the first place, tsk tsk tsk.)

Trilia was smug as she continued.

(This ability, as I said evolves due to an individual’s soul, it constantly changes. It is like a snowflake, my ability is like my husband’s but at the same time, it is completely different. Just as no snowflake is the same, no druids soul reading ability is the exact same. This is also the reason why this ability is not taught to our children, instead, they awaken the ability. To teach a child something they will naturally come to understand, would be pointless. Your soul is different from mine and my soul is different from my husband and my daughter. Because of these differences, this ability that constantly changes with our souls cannot just be learned through one’s memories. No, you have to experience it first hand and be taught through your own body and senses. You have to feel it through yourself. What I can teach your soul is what to expect, the clues to pick up on and be aware of.)

Kazuki was now coming to understand why one could not simply share another’s memory to get this ability.

(How complex. To think this ability is so individualized that it cannot be learned through another’s memory. As of late, I have gotten used to being able to simply invade another’s soul and extract skills and so on. To think there is such a unique ability in this universe that one cannot simply steal outright.)

Kazuki found this interesting and novel. At a certain level, he no longer needed to learn things himself. He could simply look into a weaker person’s soul and forcibly make them share knowledge and experiences with him and do it all without the other person knowing he had done so. Now he came across a new skill that could not just be stolen and required work. He was looking forward to this but at the same time, there was another issue he had.

(How does this soul reading ability allow my soul to repair itself. I don’t get what being able to sense or read another’s soul has to do with that.)

(Hmm, maybe I was wrong about you being clever.)

(Kidding I’m kidding, hehe. As I said being able to read a soul, especially your very own, you will be able to sense its entirety at any even deeper level than I since it’s your own soul. Because of this, along with this ability’s ever-evolving and growth nature, it will naturally correct or rather repair those fractures the more this ability grows. It will do this without you and it will become like second nature to you.)

(So you’re saying I won’t need to do anything and the damage will simply repair itself?)

(Almost. For this second fracture, once you have the ability down, it will heal over time. The third one is a little different. It was triggered by your soul nearly being devoured. For you to completely overcome the third fracture, it will require an incredibly large force to fix. The soul reading ability will need massive growth and change. In order to get this growth, well that is another conversation entirely.)

Kazuki was again at a loss. The second fracture would heal on its own over time but the third one needed this ability to grow in a massive way.

(Alright stop asking so many questions it’s becoming annoying. Concentrate as I make some adjustments here.)

(What adju

Before he could finish his thought, Trilia’s form inside his soul world lit up with radiant light. Her power flowed directly into Kazuki’s soul tree and his soul world began to shake.

Kazuki’s aura naturally tried to defend itself.

(Kazuki don’t fight my power! Use your own soul to follow its path, let me guide you. Otherwise, we’ll be doing this all day and I have tea time pretty soon.)

Kazuki’s ki began to circulate and he calmed down. He stopped resisting and his soul loosened as he followed the flow of power gliding through his soul tree.

Trilia nodded.

(Good, keep it up, and don’t attack my power.)

Kazuki began to feel a warmth in his body and soon new branches on his soul tree began to grow in all kinds of strange and different directions. This feeling of growth was quite pleasant and seemed natural but that calm warmth quickly switched out of nowhere.

Suddenly several branches on his soul tree turned black and snapped off as if they had been slashed. A cold and soul shredding pain replaced the warmth and he was now in agony.

(THIS!)

(Calm yourself, this is natural. I am showing your soul what to look out for and it is trying to sense new energy. There will of course be setbacks. Just follow through and don’t stop you hear me!)

*Ehm*

Kazuki released a low grunt as the pain was deep.

Still, he followed Trilia’s power without stopping.

Once again more branches grew and the warmth returned but like a cruel joke a moment later branches broke away and the soul rupturing pain returned with a vengeance.

This process repeated again and again and each time the pain got worse and worse.

Kazuki who could take on the full power of a star exploding directly in his face right now was dripping with cold sweat as his soul was ripped apart and seemingly put back together again and again. This though he could endure. Arc had shared Zephris’s memories and experiences with him a while ago and in those memories, Zephris experienced something quite similar.

His soul was ripped apart continuously and was scattered to pieces. Later on, he willed a slither of his soul back together from the many pieces. Every time he did this he experienced a pain far worse than what Kazuki was feeling now. Kazuki experienced those times just as Zephris had. He knew this pain well and he had endured it then. This pain, he could take it and he did.

Nevius was watching this nervously from the outside. He knew his wife’s skills quite well but he also knew that Kazuki was not one to put up with shit. Trilia had not warned Kazuki of such soul-splitting pain ahead of time and Nevius was worried Kazuki may have lingering anger after all was said and done.

Nara on the other hand was completely confident in both of them. She calmly patted and wiped the sweat from Kazuki’s forehead in a caring manner.

Trilia on the other hand was smiling as she watched Kazuki’s soul tree following along.

(Kazuki, You seem to have a knack for sensing the elements. It is this same ability of your to sense elements that we will be expanding and it will be the foundation of your soul reading ability. Are you prepared, it will be quite painful in a different type of way, hehe.)

Kazuki gritted his teeth in the outside world before his thoughts came forward.

(DO IT!)

Trilia liked this determination and nodded along before her eyes in the outside world lit up.

At the same time, the magic circle the two sat in that had been continuously moving and changing began to pulse and the inscriptions inside began to flash with ancient symbols at a fast rate.

The world started to tremble as every element gathered in a great abundance. Not just from the world but from the Realm itself. A mad rush of energy from all over came rushing forward at a blinding speed. All of this energy was concentrated in a terrifying manner and was ripping the Realm apart as it traveled through the Realm.

Trilia lifted an open palm in the outside world and called out.

“SILENCE!”

The ripping Realm at this moment seemed to have froze for a split second and all of the tears reversed. This though was not done using the element of space but something different. As the Realm’s damage was reversed, Trilia called out once more.

“COME!”

All of the energy that had built up outside of Nevius’s world, like a tidal wave of endless energy, all of it rushed down and into Kazuki in an instant.

Kazuki’s eyes snapped open the moment this energy flooded in and it was simply overwhelming. It was too much. If he didn’t get rid of most of it as fast as possible he knew he would die. He immediately activated the spinning void in his soul word to try and devour this energy and prevent his death but Trilia chuckled before snapping her fingers.

Kazuki felt Trilia’s power flow to the base of his soul tree and it somehow cut off his connection to the spinning void. It was as if it no longer existed and because of this, it stopped working.

(No no no, you can’t eat this energy Kazuki, that would not help. Accept it…Accept it all!)
