Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 132

*FWHOOOSHHHHHHH*

A large flame erupted from his palm, and the entire realm quaked and threatened to break from the presence of this one flame alone. Kazuki immediately pulled his power back and snuffed out the flame, killing its force in a single move.

Nara, Trilia, and Nevius all looked at him as if they had seen a ghost.

“Kazuki, be careful! Are you trying to kill us and everyone else in this Realm? Never use that much power, or everyone and everything will be reduced to particles.”

Trilia had barely sent Kazuki’s roar into another realm, and that alone had destroyed whatever random realm Trilia opened. She did not anticipate Kazuki suddenly unleashing his power.

Kazuki himself was shocked and apologetic. At the same time, he stared at his own hand in awe, as he had barely used any power at all. As a matter of fact, he had only used a small fraction of his power. His focused mind was drawn away, and his senses returned to this Realm. Divine enlightenment once more faded from his consciousness, but right now he did not care.

He was not a Demigod, but he knew for certain his power eclipsed both Lin’s and Alutra’s.

(For my power to have reached such a level, this is almost terrifying yet exhilarating. I feel as if everything is within my grasp.)

Kazuki held up a single finger.

“Kazuki, make sure you pull your power back You hear me?”

Kazuki gave Trilia a nod before imagining a tiny, minuscule flame. A flame so small it was a hundred the size of a hair.

*FSHHHHHH!*

Even while trying to control it, the flame was nowhere near an hundredth of a hair thick, instead, it was at least several hairs wide, and both the heat and light coming off of this tiny flame were far greater than any star in this Realm.

Kazuki could feel it. With a simple flick of his finger, this small flame could rip from one side of the Realm to the other in a matter of seconds.

(My body has changed far too much. If I could move at my fastest speed without destroying the Realm, I believe I could match the speed of light if not fully surpase it by several times.)

This thought was not simple boasting. The rules of this Realm, Kazuki had already been closing in on such a speed; now though, he knew he could break said rules and move much faster. If he did, though, this Realm would be destroyed by his mere movement.

Kazuki had experienced growth recently when the first fracture in his soul was fixed by Nevius. At that time he had trouble controlling the force of his body, now he was facing something similar when it came to his magic. With his soul now automatically repairing itself, his powers were constantly growing. Albeit fractionally but still, even these small increments were improving Kazuki every second.

Not only that, but while he was learning this soul-reading ability, he was comprehending the elements at a deeper and deeper level.

Kazuki held up three more fingers on his hand and three more flames appeared.

One blue, one green, one black, and the first one red. With a simple thought, all four flames encircled one another and fused with one another. These flames each contained a separate element along with fire. One contained darkness, another water, and another the element of stone.

Glacious had made his own black flames, which contained both darkness and fire. Later on, Kazuki could do something similar but it was a mere imitation at best and contained nowhere near the might. Now though things were different, he was different. The knowledge he had obtained from Glacious had given him many insights in regards to the elements but now that he had the soul-reading ability, there was an added bonus. He could read and sense souls but in learning how, it opened up his ability to sense the elements at a far deeper level.

With this deeper, clearer sense. It caused him to comprehend fire at such a level that it made him wonder if he hadn’t mastered it yet. He knew in the depths of his soul that it was superior to Alutra’s golden flame but at the same time, things weren’t adding up.

“Trilia, Nevius, do either of you know anything about Demigods or more specifically, how one becomes a Demigod?”

The two nodded at almost the exact same time.

“Sir Kazuki, you are wondering why you aren’t a Demigod if you have already mastered an element, correct?”

It was obvious that they would know what he was thinking. Kazuki though was still having trouble reading them back.

“Look at him trying to peer inside our souls, that would be difficult for other druids, let alone an outsider like yourself. Though you do seem to have potential, Kazuki, you can barely scratch the surface, and you need lots of time and practice. Forget about that for now. As for your question, it should be obvious. You can’t become a Demigod when your soul is still damaged. After a while, the second fracture to your soul will heal itself. The third one though, is both an easy fix while at the same time something close to impossible. I told you earlier you will need an incredibly large force, but that also comes with a few details. The main cause of the third fracture like I said was caused by the Vazul but that was just what broke the cracked vase. It was a buildup of life and death over and over again that put those cracks in the so-called vase.”

“So what are you trying to say? You said you could help me fix it, but the way you speak, it sounds like the task is impossible.”

Trilia shrugged.

“Not impossible, but…Well, since the third was caused by life and death, you must use your soul to absorb either life or death.”

Kazuki did not know what that meant but he had a hunch.

“Like animals, people, plants.”

Trilia smiled before patting Kazuki on his head almost patronizingly.

“See I knew you were clever. Good job, young one.”

Kazuki slapped her hand away with a mere thought.

*Bang!*

Had he used his flesh, even if he was holding back, he might have destroyed her by accident.

Trilia grabbed her now throbbing hand and winced, but she wasn’t upset.

“Kazuki, come on, I was just teasing you. Learn to hold back on this pretty lady, or people may get strange ideas about you.”

Kazuki rolled his eyes.

“Sorry that was a bit forceful, but don’t pat my head; I’m not a child.”

Trilia shrugged once more.

“Fine fine fine, you’re not very playful, are you? Oh well. Anyway, your thinking is on the right path. Life and death. In order to fix your soul, these will have to be acquired and absorbed in massive quantities. With your soul reading ability, you can take the soul of those weaker than you with a mere thought. Your soul will absorb their soul and the soul reading ability will naturally take it in for the benefit of healing and growing your soul.”

“I have to absorb souls with this ability. And how many exactly should I kill.”

Kazuki wasn’t opposed to killing. He would not do something to someone who was innocent but to his enemies, there was nothing that would stop him. At the same time, he wondered if he would even be able to meet whatever the quota was. His list of enemies wasn’t exactly a long one. After all, he had conquered this entire Realm. As far as he knew, there were no enemies in this Realm.

Trilia thought for a moment before she threw out a shocking number.

“Hmm, several trillion, I suppose.”

The way she said it was so nonchalant that Kazuki at first was nodding along but he quickly did a double-take as he realized what she had said.

“Trillions! What the fuck!”

Trilia shook her head.

“No no no, I said several trillion, not just trillions. Maybe ten or twenty trillion. Yeah…that should probably do it.”

Kazuki was left dumbfounded before he glared at Nevius. Nevius quickly looked away, avoiding any and all eye contact.

“Nevius Ash, did you not say you could fix my soul? What is this bullshit number? Explain yourself, what was our deal for if there was something so impossibly ridiculous as this?”

Trilia stepped in between the two and protected her husband.

“Kazuki, no need to turn red; my husband wasn’t lying when he said he would fix all three fractures. It is you who seemed to have misunderstood or rather, you just didn’t ask the right questions. In order to acquire all of those souls, it is just a matter of time. You are immortal; in a few million years, it is possible to get every soul you need. My husband would have helped you get every single one. You are the one who assumed the fix was right around the corner. So stop giving my husband that nasty look.”

Nevius also began apologizing profusely.

“Forgive me, Kazuki. I knew if I told you the time frame, you would most likely never have helped me but I did not lie. I can go with you and help you find these trillions upon trillions of souls. Without a doubt, we can start anytime you wish so please hold back your anger. I promise I wasn’t trying to deceive you like that.”

Kazuki was beyond annoyed. One lied by omission while the other was simply annoying in basically every way. The only one who seemed normal was the daughter but even she seemed to have some mental problems under the surface. Kazuki was ready to simply leave. If it really did require time to seek out that many souls, then that was fine. Kazuki just wished that Nevius had been upfront about it.

(I’m never coming back to these weird fucks.)

Just as he opened a rift, Trilia smiled before saying.

“There, of course, is a much quicker way. Did I forget to mention that, hehe?”
