Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 138

Maya had just did a complete 180 at the mention of marriage and now was expecting to see Kazuki tie the knot.

(Granny master so are you saying you do want a body?)

(What do you think? You must be crazy if you believe I’ll disappear without seeing you off with a woman. Who knows how badly you’ll mess it up if I’m not around showing you what’s what. Now get me a body and make it fast disciple.)

*Ding dong*

Asuna stood nervously outside her own home. She rang the bell unconsciously. For some reason, it just didn’t feel right to just walk in even if this was her childhood home.

“Sun ye! Someone’s at the door, answer it!”

A shout came from within the house, the voice was slightly muffled but it was clearly an older woman. What followed was a much younger voice.

“Mama why do I always have to get it. Dad is just lazying around on the couch. I don’t have time for this I have to go meet my friends.”

“Noisy child. Your dads worked all week. Not to mention if you’re going to meet your friends then your leaving anyway and where and will you be meeting these friends of yours and which one is it and you better be back by 8:00 we still have that show tonight and I don’t want to wait…

Asuna could hear her mother going on and on and this made her heart skip a beat.

(Just behind this door, it really is them.)

“Ok ok! I’m getting it just let me be your going to make my ears fall off.”

“Oh yeah, just wait and see, I really will talk your ears off. Maybe then you’ll actually listen to me.”

“Mom that doesn’t even make sense.”

*Ca chk*

The door opened and Asuna was immediately greeted by her younger sister’s stunned silence followed by a shocked scream.

*Ahhhhhhhh

Asuna quickly covered her mouth and muffled her screams before hugging her.

“Little Sun…I’m home.”

The sound of footsteps racing down a hall echoed out and two people rounded a corner. One a woman with a spatula in hand and ready to strike and the other a middle-aged balding man in his boxers and glasses.

“Sun ye what’s wrong! Why did you scream just now?”

Father and Mother stopped as they saw who was at their front entrance.

“Mom, Dad, It’s me.”

Asuna’s mother dropped the spatula and fainted right there on the spot. Asuna’s dad quickly caught her mom but seeing Asuna, he dropped his wife and came running forward.

Before Asuna could say anything else he grabbed her by the shoulders. His entire body trembled a she looked at her face.

“My daughter, my baby. You were alive.”

He then hugged her crushing Sun ye between them.

“Asuna, should we just wait outside or should we come inside.”

Nunully and Lamia stood just outside. They had come with Asuna for emotional support.

Asuna’s father looked at the two ladies and was stunned by their beauty. He had never seen such gorgeous women in his entire life. Not in magazines nor movies or anything else, they were otherworldly in his eye. Right after though he spotted the pointed end of their ears and found it odd but then he noticed Asuna’s ears as well. He could tell there was a story.

“Asuna, who are they?”

—————————————————————————-

As her eyes slowly began to flutter open she could hear voices around her and it caused her to jolt awake and shout.

“Asuna!”

Tears began to fill her eyes as she felt seeing her daughter was a dream, a cruel dream but the very next moment she felt a slight squeeze on her hand and that same familiar voice.

“Mama, I’m here, I’m right here.”

Looking at her daughter, tears continued to fall as she hugged her precious child. A mother losing a child was something that should never happen. To lose a child though, in such a strange and mysterious manner, it was something she could never accept and had been haunted by all this time.

She couldn’t believe she was really seeing Asuna and held onto her as tightly as possible then without notice she punched her on top of her head.

“Damn it child why did you not show up sooner why didn’t you call!”

Half a second later, Asuna’s mom felt a throbbing pain in her hand. She felt like she had just thumped a slab of metal.

“Damn it all, why is your head so hard! Just what is going on where were you all this time!?”

Asuna smiled. Even if she hit her on the head it didn’t hurt whatsoever. Instead, in a weird way, this was love and worry and frustration all rolled up into one.

“Mama, look at you asking a million questions at once and crying so messily when we have guests. Let big sis tell us. She must have had her own worries, after all, she’s so different now. It must have been complicated, right sis.”

Hearing her youngest words, only now did she notice there were two beauties no two angels sitting at their table quietly observing the situation as well as the inside of the house itself. Nunully and Lamia couldn’t help it. Everywhere they looked were strange and odd-looking things they had never seen before.

“These two?”

Lamia introduced herself followed by Nunulyy.

“I am called Lamia, former proprietor of the Dancing Gazelle and this lovely creature next to me is my precious and only daughter Nunully.”

Nunully smiled cheerfully.

“Hello, I’m Nunully and Asuna is like a sister to me. She’s helped me through many things and even taught me about volleyball. If I didn’t watch the way she acted, I might have never stepped forward with my own feelings and been bold.”

Mother and father and Sun ye, all of them were slightly confused and Lamia quickly began pinching Nunully’s cheek.

“Introduction introduction, they don’t need to know about your relationships now do they.”

Nunully disagreed.

“If we’re going to become family then, of course, I should mention such things mother.”

Things were getting complicated.

“Who is this who are they? What is going on? After you disappeared Ryuta kept saying crazy things like you were abducted but even he admitted he couldn’t remember much when he fell asleep. What is the real story Asuna?”

Asuna felt bad for Ryuta. He was one of her close friends and like a brother in many ways. An annoying brother but a brother none the same. He had been there with her and Sam the day they were teleported to Gordonia.

“Is Ryuta ok, after we disappeared it must have been rough?”

Asuna’s dad sat down next to his wife and sighed.

“Things were not good for a while. When you and Sam vanished, you weren’t the only ones. Around the world that day 24 people all kids around your age suddenly disappeared. It was all over the news both here and internationally. There were reports of 8 bright lights appearing in the sky and then you all were just gone. The only one who was there first hand, the only person who was with you was Ryuta. He said you all were taken. He said he remembered hanging out with you and Sam after school and the very next moment he saw a strange smoke and he fell asleep. The next moment he felt like someone had hit him hard in the chest and he woke up. His vision was blurry but he remembered seeing you, Sam, and someone else standing in a circle of light, after that you all were gone.”

(That was Kazuki who knocked him out of the magic circle and took his place. So Ryuta saw that.)

“What happened to Ryuta?”

Asuna’s father shook his head.

“Pople treated him like he was involved. Even we…Even we treated him harshly. He was the last one to see you alive…After he was questioned by police, they found nothing and let him go but the internet was not done with him. They couldn’t believe or understand what had happened and weird theories popped up one after another. In the end, he was forced to drop out of school and his family packed up and moved to the countryside. Afterward, it made no sense that he had anything to do with your disappearance and we wanted to apologize but last I heard he doesn’t even leave his house anymore. Sad, he and his family suffered a lot because of everything that happened.”

Asuna was shocked. One of her best friends was treated so harshly when he had nothing to do with it. Only because he was the one who remained, only because he was the one that didn’t vanish, he was blamed for her and Sam missing. The court of public opinion was something harsh whether deserved or not, it was always heavy and filled with wild accusations.

“Even you treated Ryuta like that. You’re wrong, Ryuta was my friend, how could you treat him like a criminal?”

Asuna didn’t mean to yell but she was angry. At the same time, she knew her family was just worried about her.

(Ryuta, I will make it up to you I swear.)

Even if it was not her responsibility Ryuta was her friend and he was unfairly treated for something he could not help. The way her parents reacted was the way many did because they did not have the truth.

Asuna then used one of Kazuki’s techniques and shared her memories with her family. Of course, she left out the dangerous stuff and other things her parents and little sister did not need to know. By the end of it, her mom, dad, and little sister were all flooded with tears and the four of them hugged once more. After what they saw, they were just happy that their daughter had come back to them and they could be a family again.
