Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 35
Rushing through the door and into Glacious’s room, Kazuki prepared to unleash chaos upon the enemy within, but as soon as he entered Glacious’s old room, he was surprised to see Alutra going through Glacious’s things. In the center of this room, there was a literal pile of treasures a mountain high. This is where Glacious kept most of his treasure. Like a true dragon, Glacious liked to have a lot of valuables nearby. Sometimes to sleep on it and other times to just look at it and know it was there.
When Kazuki rushed in, both he and Alutra made eye contact.
“So I guess this means you’re finally done doing the deed with your women?”
“You knew?”
Alutra rolled her eyes before tossing a jewel-encrusted skull over her shoulder and digging back into the large pile of treasure in front of her.
“Kazuki, come now, how would I not know? Have you already forgotten I am a Demigod? Even if this place does have high-level magic inscriptions to block the senses, they can not stop me at all. You may be the strongest in this Lower Realm but your senses and abilities are not better than mine. Besides that, though I wouldn’t even need to use any power at all to know what you three were doing, after all, I could clearly hear everything. Hehehe, to think my little nephew was such a horny demon monkey. Are you sure you didn’t cripple them?”
Being compared to a horny monkey was kind of funny but, at the same time, slightly annoying.
“I made sure to hold back adequately. They should regain consciousness in a little while.”
Alutra chuckled upon hearing this.
“Kazuki, is that something you should say so casually? Most people don’t fuck their partners until they’ve passed out, you know.”
Kazuki shook his head.
“If that’s the case, then I would say those people aren’t doing it right.”
Kazuki then had a proud smile stretched across his face. Alutra also smiled before shaking her head.
“I wouldn’t know. The men I’ve been with were quite weak.”
Kazuki walked over and picked up the skull Alutra had tossed a second ago. Examining it, he asked her.
“So might I ask why you are going through Glacious’s things and not only that but doing so like a sneaky rat in the middle of the night?”
Alutra picked up another item. It was a grey cup that contained a bright red liquid inside of it. Giving it a sniff, her brows furrowed before she tossed that as well.
“I can’t sleep and so I was bored and there was no one to talk to. Everyone passed out a while ago and you were clearly busy so I went for a stroll in this interesting house. This room has strong protection magic around it, the strongest in this place so it naturally drew my curiosity. As soon as I came in here, there was a burning mountain of black fire. Looking into the fire, I could see all kinds of items so I simply put that fire out and looked around. What does it matter if I look through the things of a dead man? As a matter of fact, these are no longer his since he’s gone. As for a rat in the night, Have you not taken toll of the time? The morning is well upon us, so really it should be a sneaky rat in broad daylight, hehe.”
Kazuki understood the notion of not sleeping. Being at this level, sleep was no longer required. It was this very same reason that he had gotten out of bed and decided to walk around, so he couldn’t really blame her for this. What did annoy him though was the fact that she just so blatantly went inside of Glacious’s room without permission.
“Alutra, I don’t mind you exploring, but remember that this place is not yours. Anything and everything in here belongs to me. Glacious left it for me and me alone. Not only that, but Glacious and Etora were my benefactors and friends. Thanks to them, I could grow to such an extent, so for you to just rummage through the things of someone I respected and cared about like this is very inconsiderate, and it…irks me.”
Alutra paused, and she could feel that she had messed up. She gently put down another item she had scooped up.
“I…Sorry. I didn’t mean to be a bother. I just haven’t been out and about in so long that this new freedom has emboldened me. I didn’t even think about it that way. These things belonged to your friend, and I’m just acting completely inconsiderate. I…I won’t do that again, nephew.”
Alutra was sincere in her apology, and Kazuki could understand where she was coming from. She was under Orberus’s watchful eye for far too long and was restricted and scrutinized always.
(Orberus really messed her up. I shouldn’t be too harsh on her. After all, she didn’t have bad intentions and was merely curious about all this stuff and her new environment. It would be like a child never seeing or tasting a piece of candy and then suddenly being brought inside of a candy store with everything out in the open and clearly within reach. What person wouldn’t start shoving as much candy into their mouth and pockets like a little monster?)
Alutra seemed sad now but Kazuki wasn’t heartless. Walking over, he picked something up and tossed it to her. She caught it with a look of surprise.
“I never said you couldn’t look through this stuff but remember, this belongs to someone. Don’t just toss it about and next time you want to look through things, make sure you ask, you got it?”
Alutra nodded excitedly before jumping onto Kazuki and hugging him tightly.
“Thank you, nephew!”
Kazuki got a cold feeling down his spine, as he imagined how Asuna and Nunully would react were they to see Alutra clinging to him. Kazuki quickly grabbed her and peeled her off of him.
“Didn’t we agree on not being so formal? It’s Kazuki, Ka..Zu..Ki. Not nephew, remember?”
Alutra chuckled lightly before nodding in delight.
“Right right right. Thanks, Kazuki; I’ll keep it in mind.”
*Creek*
At this moment, the bedroom door slowly opened, and in walked Mei as she was slowly rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Big brother I thought I heard your voice coming from this way. What are you doing in Mister Dragon’s room with pretty Auntie?”
Kazuki shrugged.
“I was just making sure Alutra wasn’t stealing anything. Look at her, doesn’t she look shifty?”
Mei still had some bedhead, and with a tilt of her head, her hair fell sloppily to the side.
“Pretty auntie, are you a thief?”
Alutra laughed seeing this cute, disheveled child and quickly scooped her up in her arms and hugged her.
“Me a thief, no way…Or am I? If I’m to be a thief, it will only be to steal away such cute children like you.”
Alutra teased Mei by poking her chubby little cheeks here and there, but Mei wasn’t having it. She jumped out of Alutra’s arms in a huff.
“Hmph, Mei isn’t a child; Mei is a big, big bird and a big, big girl already. Aunty, are your eyes too old and bad now that you can’t see this?”
Alutra was a little taken aback, but she found this to be even more adorable.
“Ok ok you win. Mei is a big girl already. So big girl, have you eaten yet, or are you too big to eat breakfast with this aunty?”
Mei’s tired eyes widened when the mention of food came about.
“I…I’m not so big that I can’t eat breakfast. Everyone needs to eat breakfast at least, even if they’re big.”
Alutra nodded.
“That checks out. What about you Kazuki, does that check out with you?”
Kazuki nodded, playing along.
“Yep yep, that makes sense to me. Mei let’s go eat some breakfast. Since I’ve returned, maybe we should get everyone, or do you think they should sleep some more, what do you think?”
Mei shook her head vigorously, causing her unruly hair to become almost frizzy as it jumped and bounced all over the place.
“No they all slept long enough and should join us right away. Eating again with Mama and Big Brother Kazuki and Big Brother Danny and Sam and big sisters, It’s like we’re a big big family and since we are a big family, we have to eat together, right?”
Kazuki felt a warmth in his chest.
(Family huh?)
“Right, that’s the rule. We have to all eat together, at least today anyway. Ok, Mei Mei, you go get everyone and I’ll get the Golems to start on breakfast. How’s that sound?”
Mei jumped up excitedly sending her hundreds of feet high. Were this a normal room, she would have broken through a roof long ago, but the ceiling in Glacious’s old room was well over a mountain tall. Mei quickly descended before racing on ahead, her voice echoing as she disappeared into the distance.
“Mei is on her way!”
