Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 59
(I must have missed something. Magic can’t simply up and vanish. It has to have gone somewhere, moved someplace.)
Kazuki opened a rift and teleported to a new star in the distance. This one was a few times larger than the previous one and glowed with a dull firey red. Kazuki immediately began to devour the star. The energy flowing from the outside world into his soul world was abundant and extremely pure. Kazuki could feel his physical strength growing once more.
Once again he could sense pure dense energy emanating from the center of the star. The star shrunk as his spinning void ate and he began to penetrate it with his aura. The power of the sun of course was still far too strong and his aura fell apart and deteriorated before it could arrive and fully sense the center. A few moments later, Kazuki faced the same problem as before. He devoured the star up to a point before it became unstable and exploded.
This time he foresaw this happening. At the moment of the explosion, Kauzki’s aura pierced deeply through the star, at the same time, he protected his body with all of his power and moved forward. He moved with such a speed that it allowed him to avoid part of the force of the explosion. He bobed and weaved, slipped most of the danger as he strove forward with unbelievable speed.
This speed of his which was unmatched in this Lower Realm was nothing compared to the explosive force of this star. The explosive force was concentrated further inward. Kazuki could only travel forward so far in such a short amount of time. With the force of the explosion stronger the further he went in, there was no avoiding the full effect and he was pushed millions of miles away before he could stop himself.
Looking down at his body, he was slightly shocked.
A good portion of his flesh had been destroyed. Some of it was in tatters while some of it had been reduced to mush. He looked over himself as he rapidly healed and shook his head.
(I thought I was close to invincible in this Realm. Maybe others can do very little to no harm to me but nature is filled with natural horrors. Were that star bigger, the damage could have been far worse and if there was a situation where multiple stars went off at once, the danger would be no joke.)
Thinking about the destructive capabilities of stars left Kazuki with even more questions. Kazuki held enough strength to destroy the Realm if he wanted to. A punch from him would start to shred the fabric of this Realm apart. At the same time, a star exploding could cause him harm yet a star exploding would not destroy or tear a Realm and destroy it.
This didn’t make much sense to him. Something that could harm him wasn’t enough but he was enough.
(The mystery of stars only deepens.)
Kazuki then wondered what would happen if two or more stars were to go off all at once.
The rarity of two stars going off at the same time was something extremely unlikely but not impossible. Stars close enough to each other could easily be affected by another’s destruction. Not just stars but there were also black holes Kazuki had to be worried over. The gravitational pull of a star was nothing to laugh at but Kazuki could still take it up to a point. A black hole was something on an entirely different level in and of itself.
Kazuki was now unafraid of the miniature black holes a Titan like Torzz could create as he could destroy them instantly. A real black hole though was much much stronger. To even compare the two was laughable. In this Realm alone there were billions of them. Each one contained power that would even frighten a Demigod. Kazuki’s senses reached far and wide, and even from here, he could feel the tiniest pull from a black hole. To be so far away from one, he could barely even see it, yet he could feel its pull, that was a terrifying feeling.
Every time Kazuki opened a rift in space, he had to be aware of each one was and avoid them from the get-go.
As for the star, just like before, its power became unstable because of Kazuki and the dense pure power in its center ate away at the rest of the star after the immediate explosion. Before Kazuki could get close, it and all of its remaining energy were no longer anywhere to be seen.
(How strange and mysterious. Simply devouring will not work. I’ll have to try some different things if I’m to even confirm if a star heart is real or not.)
Kazuki did not know nor understand what was at the center of a star but one thing he knew for sure, there at least was something there.
Kazuki moved to a new star. Making sure there were no living creatures on any of the nearby worlds before he started, he changed his tactics this time.
(If simply eating it doesn’t work and causes it to go unstable then maybe I can try and maintain the star’s balance and integrity while siphoning off the energy from all around.)
Kazuki’s eyes began to glow with emerald light. As he activated his magic his power was overflowing. With a simple thought, he willed crystal after crystal into existence. Each of these crystals that he materialized was similar to mana crystals. Each one was the size of a small hill and could hold and contain an exuberant amount of energy.
Kazuki soon made an amount that was equal to the size of a planet. With a thought, these crystals spread out and surrounded the star from every direction. Leaving several inscriptions on them, these crystals were special. They could use and control gravity to a certain extent. They could also absorb energy and use said energy to help power them, keeping the gravity magic around them constantly going.
These crystals were at a safe distance from the star so they would not be sucked in. Even if they began to drift, Kazuki inscribe a function that would allow these crystals to basically be aware of such a thing and would course correct to maintain a safe distance away.
With a single thought, these billions of crystals activated all at once and specifically targeted the star. Kazuki immediately felt a change in the magical energy around him. All of the crystals were taking in a large quantity of energy at the same time and the power of the star started to diminish ever so slightly.
After only a few minutes a new problem occurred.
Even though there was no sound in space, Kazuki could hear the sound of several crystals cracking in his heart.
(Damn, these aren’t strong enough to contain this much energy.)
Even though this thought entered his mind, in actuality one of these hill-sized crystals alone held enough power within to destroy dozens of planets.
Kazuki found this to be very disappointing.
(Of course, these crystals cant hold all of the power. A star of t
Kazuki’s thoughts froze as many memories came flooding to the forefront of his mind. Many memories and experiences about crystals were dragged to the front. These memories showed him many different ways crystals form along with how one can make them artificially through magic and experiments with other natural resources.
These memories came from an old tall Mage. It was one of the Mages back in Treia. When Kazuki had entered the soul world of the few thousand people there to make them all 5th stage Mages, Kazuki had peered into the depths of their soul tree and learned all of their memories and experiences as if it were all firsthand.
The Mage in question had researched crystals of every kind he could get his hands on. When the Mage was a small child he had been playing by a small stream near his village when he accidentally fell in. The other children laughed and made fun of him as he stumbled to stand back up. The boy paid no heed to any of them because when he went to stand up there was a bright and radiant glow in the water. The boy instinctively grabbed whatever it was and pulled it out of the water to reveal a beautiful and shiny crystal. From that day on the boy fell in love with crystals and strived to learn everything he could about them.
This knowledge alone was something incredible but it did not stop there. Because Kazuki and all of this knowledge, along with an almighty power the old Mage could never dream of. Kazuki had access to more techniques and basically an unlimited source of materials. This gave him thousand of new ideas. Things that only he could do and was capable of.
Once again that elusive feeling flowed around Kazuki. Divine enlightenment…was just out of reach.
