Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 89
(No, the cause of this fight was your real mother.)
Kazuki was lost for a moment but he quickly put it together. Looking at the golden compass hanging around his father’s neck things began to make sense.
(If my real father was betrothed to Sephra and right now father and Orberus are arguing over my real mother, it’s because father chose her instead of Sephra.)
Lin sighed inwardly.
(It’s exactly as you say. Your father was one who loved to travel across the stars. He would seek fun and adventure in many Lower Realms. In one such Realm, he met your mother who he fell in love with at first sight. The two came together like magnets and there was nothing that could come between their love. This though was obviously a problem. For one, Orberus had already made an agreement with Sephra’s family. Sephra and Genzuko grew up together and Sephra was madly in love with your father since she was a child. Genzuko though…he was not. He did not like the idea of being tied down by his father’s choices and wished for nothing but freedom. Once he found your mother, something in him completely changed and he resisted father at every turn. Not only did father disagree but he was furious when he found out that your mother not only did not belong to any prestigious family or have any background but she was also not even a God but a plain mortal instead.)
Kazuki watched as the argument reached its apex as Lin’s memory continued to play out. Orberus slammed his fist down heavily and his chair shattered apart. His power swelled and his Divine energy shot forward as he tried to force his son to kneel before him.
“KNEEL!”
Genzuko though was powerful in his own right and his energy spread outward in a continuous wave and split his father’s power in twine.
“NO!”
Genzuko’s shout contained all of his power and it knocked Orberus backward, causing him to slam into the palace walls behind him. A line of golden blood spilled down Orberus’s chin and he was left in shock.
“My my my. To think you have grown this powerful. To think you could draw some blood from your own father. How could you be this strong yet be this fucking foolish to try and marry a mortal whore?”
Genzuko took a step forward, his power radiating all around as he stared death at his father.
“You may call me anything in the universe. You may shout and hit me with everything you have but.”
Genzuko flashed forward and grabbed Orberus by the neck, lifting him off his feet.
“If you dare to call the love of my life anything but her name, I’ll be sure to squeeze the next time.”
Orberus smiled hearing his son’s threats.
“Why wait until I speak. Do it, crush my throat, kill me and take my throne. You have my blood coursing through you, That anger…That RAGE! KILL ME AND TAKE IT ALL. DO NOT RUIN YOUR TALENT BY SETTLING DOWN WITH SOME BITCH LIVING IN TH
Before Orberus could finish this sentence, Genzuko attempted to crush his throat but Orberus already saw this coming. Chains erupted from the many pillars standing tall in the throne room. These magical chains wrapped around Genzuko and prevented him from moving. Orberus pushed Genzuko’s hand away and rubbed his neck.
“Do you like this new defense mechanism. This is courtesy of your uncle. He made them just recently for occasions like this. Seems they still need a bit of work but for now, they are doing a good enough job.”
Orberus smiled as he said this.
“Look at you son. I have spent so much time, energy, and resources to bring you up. You are meant to marry that Sephra girl and bring their family under me, not fool around with some peasant in a mudball somewhere out in the stix. You will fulfill your purpose for me and you will do it because I told you to do it.”
The magical chains wrapped around Genzuko began to rattle and shake.
“That’s all I am, that’s what all of your children are to you. Nothing more than tools to be used how and when you say.”
Orberus smiled fiendishly.
“Yes. Tools, that is a great way to put it. You, your many brothers and sisters. Your uncles’, aunts’ cousins. In this family, everyone is here to serve my purpose, to carry out my will to do my bidding. Sacrificed on my whim at any given moment. Don’t like it, well that’s too bad. I run the show, I command and you follow like a good little pup, otherwise, I’ll do what I have done many times before when a pup didn’t listen. I’ll drown you in a fucking river and let the worms eat your corpse as I carry on, as I’ve always carried on. Now fall in line and submit.”
Genzuko’s power began to gather once more before a long black sword appeared in his hand and he cut through the chains.
“NEVER!”
He charged forward and before Orberus could react, he stabbed deeply into Orberus’s chest. Orberus’s eyes went wide in shock. He instantly backed away and blocked Genzuko’s next blow but he was clearly hurt. Genzuko came down with another slash and it looked like Orberus was really about to die when Daisius appeared out of nowhere and blocked Genzuko’s attack.
Daisisus countered with his own Divine Soul weapon and the two were locked in combat. The broken chains repaired themselves and chased after Genzuko. Daisisus was beginning to overwhelm Genzuko and Genzuko finally decided to flee while Orberus screamed at him.
“NEVER RETURN! FROM TRYING TO KILL ME! YOU ARE NOT MY SON! YOU ARE A DEMON! A BASTARD DEMON SPAWN!”
With that, Orberus had disowned Genzuko.
(As you can see, your father was disowned that day and he disappeared completely from the Higher Realms. Genzuko took your mother from her Realm and the two found another Realm. One where they thought they would be safe forever. Things though did not turn out that way. This is where Sephra and I come into play.)
The memories flashed forward and showed tensions rising between Orberus’s clan and Sephra’s. Small skirmishes were breaking out across the stars and many worlds were left in ruins.
(With the engagement broken, the reputation of Sephra’s family went down and it was seen as an embarrassment by many Gods. At first small arguments came up and then fights here and there popped up until many worlds were reduced to ash. If things continued further, our two families would have an all-out war, and not just us but other families eyeing our power would step in and try and wrestle control from us. Finally, after some talks, it was decided that I and Sephra would wed. Since father did disown Genzuko and he was not a part of the family it was decided that not much was lost from Sephra’s side. To help repair our reputation and there’s as well as to bolster our forces, it was decided that Sephra would marry into our family anyway and she would be married to me. I did not want this but I was timid and weak. Sephra as well hated the idea but eventually, she buried her feelings and the two of us wed.)
The memories flashed forward and Sephra was now holding an infant.
(Even though my brother had left, I still kept in touch with him every now and then. No one knew and we didn’t talk much because he was still angry with our father understandably so but a few years after Fera was born brother told me about his own child being born and how happy he and his wife were. I was ecstatic and a bit jealous that my brother had done what none of us could. He was free, he was happy. Soon after though, tragic news reached me. Genzuko…my big brother was dead.)
The memories changed once more. This time they showed Sephra standing on a frozen mountain in deep deep snow. In her hand, she held a beautiful woman by the throat, and in the other, to Kazuki’s surprise, she held his infant self by the nape of his neck.
(Lin, this is.)
Lin shook as he was agonizing over what he witnessed. To look through these memories again was heartbreaking to him.
(Sephra had not truly buried her feelings for Genzuko and she found the Realm your family was hiding in. At first, I didn’t know how she found you all until I saw that compass.)
Kazuki’s golden compass, the one that his father wore was now hanging around his real mother’s neck. Kazuki realized instantly what this meant.
(Sephra managed to track the compass. Through the almost infinite Realms, she found it and the first thing she sees when she arrives at its location is a beautiful woman embracing a tiny newborn. Something inside Sephra snapped.)
