Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 91

The infant Kazuki, embraced by his loving mother, the two fell over and moved no more. A blade had just pierced through both of their chests and left large holes in them. Blood soaked the snow-covered ground and neither one took another breath, they were dead.

Lin and Alutra both began to cry as they watched this memory play out. Lin had already seen it once before but it still broke him watching this scene. Alutra felt sick to her stomach and she felt as if she were choking on her own tears.

Kazuki though was eerily quiet.

(Dead. My mother and I…Both died, just like that.)

Lin was fighting with himself just trying to hold it all together as he spoke.

(Sephra wanted Genzuko all for herself. She could not stand the idea of letting you or your mother live as it would be a constant reminder for brother. She thought that killing you both would force Genzuko to let you go. If you were both no more, his attachments to you both would vanish and she could then have him. Damn this vile woman, damn her to the depth of the 7th realm of hell.)

Kazuki remained quiet as he watched the memories in silence. His mother and his infant self lay unmoving and dead in the snow, Kazuki was eft confused and enraged.

(How can I be dead. How could it happen like this, how could it happen so fast? M…mother.)

Kazuki felt something in the depths of his very soul. Something seemingly instinctual and unnerving. He had almost never thought about his real mother or father but seeing her dead in the snow still embracing his tiny corpse, something inside of himself now felt wrong. It felt broken. It was like something he never knew was there just suddenly came crashing down and shattered into thousands of little shards of glass.

Here was a woman who genuinely loved Kazuki from before he even took his first breath of air. A woman who cherished him and truly loved him with everything she had. She was completely innocent in all of this, yet because of another’s jealousy, she was cut down. In the end, the woman, his mother, all she wanted was to protect her son, even in her final breath.

Kazuki didn’t even know her name but this woman, she was his mother. She loved him unconditionally and this was her ending. Kazuki suddenly felt something warm on his face. In the outside world, there were actual tears running down. Kazuki was crying for his mother.

(Why…Why did this have to happen?)

Kazuki had just spoken these words when Genzuko inside the memory lifted his head and cried out.

(WHY!…WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN!?.)

Kazuki and Alutra were both shocked. Genzuko had just repeated the exact same words. Alutra was shocked at this coincidence but Kazui felt it was something else. Even though his tiny corpse was already no more, Kazuki truly felt that he had etched those words from his father onto his very soul.

Sephra shook her head.

“It had to happen but it’s ok, everything’s going to be fine now see. With the whore and the imp gone, you and I can start again. I can divorce Lin and I’ll take my daughter with me. The three of us can be a happy family somewhere in a different Realm, someplace where you can be mine once more, now and forever.”

Sephra came over to Genzuko and kneeled next to him. She hugged him and felt his warm embrace and recalled all of her happy memories before all of this happened.

Genzuko though was now broken completely. His wife and son were just murdered in front of him by a person he considered to be like a little sister.

*Heh HEHUHA HEHEHEHAHAHAHAHA*

Sephra took a look at Genzuko who was now laughing maniacally.

“You…Whats wrong? I don’t understand.”

Genzuko suddenly embraced Sephra back and squeezed her with everything he had.

“You. I never loved you, I never could. You were only like a sister but even now, after what you’ve done, I hate you. I hate you with every single inch of my body and now I see who you really are. You an obsessive, jealous, foul, nasty creature. You are not loved and no one with a right mind will ever love you. GOODBYE!”

Even though his soul was severely damaged and most of his magic was being suppressed, he still had the strength of a Demigod and so Sephra could not easily break free of his grip. Genzuko used the last of his magic, the little that wasn’t being suppressed to blow up his body with Sephra. Sephra though was not slow and the already broken side of her completely took over in this moment.

With no hesitation, she used all of her power to completely suppress the explosion and redirected the final part of it back onto Genzuko, containing it on just him. Genzuko realized what was happening too little too late. As his body was ripped apart and exploded in this tiny contained area, the look in his eyes hit Sephra hard. His expression was filled with rage in his final moment. No love for her whatsoever, only pure hatred.

As the snow and smoke settled, the only remains left of him were ash and specks of blood splattered here and there. Sephra cried. She grabbed some of the ashes and held them to her chest. It had all happened way too fast and she had reacted instinctively to protect herself.

“NO! NO NO NO NO NO! This isn’t right this isn’t how it was supposed to be. NO NO NO! You come with me and we have our own family. We live together and laugh and you love me, hold me. You can’t be dead. I won’t allow it, I can’t…I can’t…

Sephra keeled over and vomited as she gripped the frozen ash-covered snow.

“I…I can’t.”

A rift opened next to her and her face went blank and she was numb. She stood up without emotion and slowly walked to her rift, almost tripping over her own feet as she went before finally leaving. Her rift closed and she was gone.

Kazuki and Alutra, neither knew how to interpret this scene. Instead, they were more concerned for Kazuki. His infant body was dead and he was left on a frozen mountain, seemingly near nothing and no one.

Even though Sephra was gone the memory was still continuing.

Just as they were confused the golden compass on the ground moved. The golden compass slowly floated off the ground and hovered over Kazuki and his mother.

A familiar voice rang out.

“Hmm, so in the end, my son was this adamant about not returning. He really wanted this mortal woman enough to do something as foolish as destroying his own Soul weapon. All this for what. My pathetic disappointment of a son. How did you ever come from my balls?”

(Orberus!)

Alutra and Kazuki were stunned. Orberus’s voice came from the golden compass. Things began to make sense. Orberus had used the compass plenty, of course, he could use it even before.

(Father had two compasses made when Genzuko and Sephra were still small. When it was agreed that they would be married, the compasses acted as engagement gifts or a promise to be wed. Orberus secretly put some of his power in both of them. Later on, Sephra found this out and removed his power from her compass and replaced it with hers before she gifted it to Fera. In this way she could always keep an eye on her.)

Kazuki and Alutra both grew angrier. With Orberus’s energy within the golden compass, it meant he could have put a stop to Sephra’s actions at any moment but instead he silently watched on as his daughter-in-law, grandson, and even son die.

Orberus’s voice came out from the compass once more.

His power lifted Kazuki’s mother and with a simple thought, her body was tossed aside as if it were trash. Lifting Kazuki’s corpse up, he turned him over and saw Kazuki’s face. Orberus looked at Kazuki’s dead body and he went quiet.

“I’ve only just recently been watching you but damn you sure do look like both him and me. I guess that’s our superior bloodline coming through hahaha. Still, it is undeniable that you are my grandson. I wonder…What would happen if you were left alone. Right now you are a mortal but my blood does flow through you. What could you become in a tiny world in a tiny Realm without Gods raising you? Would you fall to the wayside or would you become formidable? Now that would be interesting to see. I have been bored lately. All of my children have been nothing but failures and disappointments. Let’s see what happens if left alone with no restrictions. Let’s see what you do.”

A fraction of his power poured out of the golden compass and dove directly into the large hole in Kazuki’s infant chest. The very next moment, the large wound healed almost instantly and his little heart began to beat.

*WAAAA WAAAAA*

An eruption of cries echoed out on this frozen mountain.

“Annoying little shit isn’t he.”

Power poured out of the compass and a rift opened. With a thought, Kazuki was teleported away and was left at an orphanage.
