Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 102
Kazuki stood in front of a small cell and leaned forward.
“This one.”
Inside the cage sat a thin man with disheveled grey hair. The man had red scales all over his body and a dead look in his eyes. A long tail curled around his small frame. He didn’t even bother to look at Kazuki.
The guide ran over, a bracelet on her wrist lit up and she shook her head.
“Dear customer you must be mistaken. This man has a severely damaged soul and so most of his power has been lost. He used to be a God but after receiving an injury in the arena he lost everything. Now, this lizard man is no stronger than someone in the 4th stage. He would be useless to you.”
Samuel didn’t understand why Kazuki would want this man and curiously asked the guide.
“For what reason was this lizard man thrown in here?”
The guide didn’t even need to look into her bracelet to know.
“This man is called Loa. He owed a massive debt and since he lost in the arena and could no longer fight, he couldn’t pay. He was thrown in here and was set to be a mining slave for the next 200,000 years but in his condition, he most likely won’t make it for another 100.”
Samuel found this odd.
“I’m sure his debtors would know of this. Why would they send him to a mine to basically die? They’ll never recover what they lost going that route.”
The guide shrugged her shoulders.
“At least if he’s sent to the mines he can pay back something. The people he owes don’t even need the money so it could also just be a warning to others to show that no one can get away with not paying.”
Marty nodded.
“It makes sense. For Gods who care about their image. They’d rather send some bodies to the mine and take the financial hit than look lax in front of others.”
“Sir customer let’s find someone else for you. There are plenty of
Before the woman could finish her sentence, Kazuki raised a hand to hush her.
“I have already spoken. Give me this one here. How much?”
The guide furrowed her brows but still remained professional and did a quick calculation.
“This one was once a God but since his soul has suffered a great deal of damage, and he’s sunken so low, he’s only worth around 200,000 Divine crystals.”
“Don’t you mean 100,000? After all, your boss Tessa has already agreed to give us a sizeable discount.”
The guide grit her teeth before smiling fakely.
“Yes, young sir. As my boss has ordered I will be reducing the cost by 50%. Anything else customers or will this be all?”
Marty chuckled while giving Samuel a thumbs up and Kazuki gave him a nod.
After that, Kazuki began to point out several other people and creatures here and there. To the guide’s surprise, each person he pointed out had a damaged soul. After around the 50th person, Kazuki finally stopped and the guide couldn’t help but ask.
“Sir customer, everyone you’ve chosen has an injury to their soul. They are all damaged products. If you take them out of here our establishment may get a reputation for selling faulty things.”
“And?”
“No, it’s nothing.”
“You should be greatful. You’re getting rid of things you don’t want and your customer will be happy at the end of the day. Stop being so annoying.”
The guide could only sigh hearing this before she nodded.
“Yes. Is there anything else or is our business done here?”
Samuel once again stepped forward.
“Well, there is just one more detail. The price…It’s not quite there for us. I’ll need you to reduce it by a bit more.”
The guide stared at Samuel as if he were crazy. They were already getting half off and now he wanted even more. The woman was ready to flat-out refuse but then she remembered her boss or rather Viz. Viz had gone off with her boss and she felt if he thought his time was wasted, it may blow back on her. The negotiation lasted maybe five minutes before Samuel and the rest were returning to the first floor with all smiles.
The moment they returned to the first floor, Viz appeared in front of them.
“Has it been handled?”
Viz had marks on his neck and face and his clothes were disheveled. Each of these marks were obviously from a good time and Marty couldn’t help but laugh when she saw him. Viz glared at her.
“What’s so funny?”
He exuded an intimidating air causing Marty to nearly choke on her laugh as she went completely silent and shook her head.
Half a second later, Tessa appeared next to Viz.
“Why did you leave so soon? We still need to…chat, for a little longer.”
Viz raised a brow.
“I think we’ve chatted long enough. My partner’s business is done, so I am done as well. It’s time we take our leave.”
Tessa’s eyes widened and she glared at the guide.
“Is this true, are they done already? Couldn’t you have kept them stalled for just a little longer? What a failure you are.”
The guide wanted to cry hearing all of this. She quickly spoke up before she was humiliated any further.
“Wait boss please, they haven’t even paid yet none of the slaves have their marks as of yet. There are still a few more things that need to be taken care of first so please don’t scold me.”
Tessa’s frown flipped and it became a bright smile.
“Why didn’t you say so earlier? See Viz, there are still a few more things that need to be taken care of. Let’s you and me finish what we started.”
Viz ignored Tessa and looked to the guide.
“What is the total?”
The guide looked back and forth between her boss and Viz. She hated being in the middle of such bullshit and wanted to hide away in a small corner but a God was asking her a question, she could not just ignore him. After swallowing hard, she answered.
“12,499,500 Divine crystals.”
Tessa found this number off.
“Hmm, I thought I told you to give them the discount. Why is it so high?”
“Boss, this is the price after the discount and a few negotiations. They bought 50 slaves.”
Hearing this a few curious folks found this price crazy. Getting 50 slaves for this price if it was 50 they must all be very weak slaves.
“50 slaves. At that price though it sounds like you didn’t show them anything good and only sold them the weakest of the weak.”
“Yes and no boss.”
Tessa was now confused but the guide quickly informed her of what took place down below in the dungeon. Now Tessa and Viz along with the nosey found these choices odd or rather stupid. A few laughs broke out when they heard that Kazuki had chosen only slaves with damaged souls. Even Viz didn’t understand why Kazuki had done this and felt he had been dragged away by Tessa for nothing.
“Jentson, I’ll need an explanation. Do you think my time is worth so little? If you simply wanted to buy damaged goods, I could have stayed at home picking my damn nose.”
“There is one but I’d rather not say it here where there are eyes and ears everywhere.”
Viz could see that Kazuki was serious and not simply playing stupid. He had bought them with some purpose and Viz was going to find out why after they were somewhere more private. Viz sighed before pointing at the guide.
“If that’s the case I’ll have you tell me later. For now, pay the woman, and let’s go.”
Tessa’s eyes widened.
“Wait just like that!?”
Viz shrugged.
“I have other things that need to be done. I can’t play with you anymore today.”
Kazuki quickly forked over the many Divine crystals and Viz pushed them all toward the door while Tessa followed after them.
“Wait we still have to place the slave marks and then hand them over, there are still things to do. You can’t just leave.”
Viz shook his head.
“All of that other crap can be handled by you. Just deliver them to the Cortail shop when things are done. As I said we have other things to attend to. Bye!”
Tessa was startign to fume.
“Viz you…you heartless
Before she could finish her words, Viz turned and grabbed her before kissing her deeply. Half a moment later he let her go and he and the others were out the door and gone. All eyes were on Tessa who had gone silent and still had her eyes closed. She finally let out a breath and opened her eyes. With everyone staring at her she began to yell and shout before stomping upstairs to her office.
While many men and a few women were oozing with jealousy, the guide simply sighed in relief and felt a burden lift from her shoulders.
