Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 114

Taking one bite and then another and another and another. Samuel couldn’t stop. He was eating the pizza as if he were a desperate animal that was starving. The melted stretchy ooey gooey cheese, the crisp crust, and the slightly sweet robust sauce. The combination in his mouth left him feeling euphoric. This was something he had never experienced in his entire life when it came to food.

Before he knew what happened, that slice of cheese pizza was no more. He had eaten every bite. Mei and Kosaru were laughing seeing this while the servants were stunned. Without saying anything, Samuel went for more pizza and began eating another slice without reserve. Finally, he let out a yummy sound.

“How can this be so good? Is this really food from a Lower Realm?”

Bersik ad Chaka now shared a look and their curiosity got to them. They picked up their own slices and the two both took tiny bites. A chill ran down their spine and like wild hogs they began to scarf down their own slices. The tiny bit of grease ran down their chins and thy licked it up making sure not to miss even the smallest bit.

Chaka let out a soft moan as she took another bite and rubbed her cheek in ecstasy.

“So good! Sir Jentson, how can food be so amazing!?”

Bersik as well. His little tail wagged back and forth rapidly as he munched and munched.

“The best, this is the best Sir Jentson.”

Simmons stared at them as if they had all lost their mind.

“You two, have you no dignity. We are servants, we should uphold our Young Master’s honor and not show such an embarrassing display. For you to lose yourself to food from a Lower Realm, how pathetic.”

Simmon’s insults had no bearing on Chaka and Bersik. For a moment they were in their own worlds and could not hear him as they ate and ate without regret and in pure bliss. Simmons saw that his words were having zero effect and even his master could no longer hear his words. Simmons’s own curiosity began to rise.

(Is it really that good? Food from a lowly Lower Realm and they are acting like animals.)

Finally, Simmons picked up his own slice of pizza and folded it according to Mei’s directions. He carefully took a bite, ready to put it down and laugh in Kazuki’s face, declaring it nothing to him but he was oh so wrong. Just like those that came before him, the man was nothing in front of Kazuki’s homemade, masterclass pizza pie. A small tear rolled down Simmons’s cheek and he could not think clearly.

“This is food meant for the Gods.”

The second he said this, he could feel a pair of eyes fall on him followed by a smirking grin as Kazuki looked at him without remorse.

“I told you so.”

These words were like a million pounds pressing down upon his soul and his face twisted up with a sour expression but half a second later and he no longer cared. The pizza was that damn good. His expression mellowed and his tense shoulders loosened as things just seemed to melt away.

Kazuki laughed inwardly.

(They are acting like this now. Wait until they actually try toppings or if I were to use my soul-reading ability and change the taste and enhance it to suit their personal taste buds, the enhancement would climb more than a thousandfold. One could say they are already addicted after their first bite but if I were to use my abilities, they would be lost to the divine taste forever, hehe.)

(Can you not talk like that Kazuki? The way you say it, makes it sound off-putting.)

Kazuki shrugged.

(Did I say anything that was false? My food combined with my soul-reading ability, I would not be surprised if others would murder to taste this combination in food.)

(I never said you were lying. It’s just that it comes across as weird and gross to this one.)

Kazuki laughed inwardly once more.

(If you ever have a body. Even you would lose yourself to my food. That I have no doubt.)

(I would never consider placing my being into a meat bag of flesh. Why would I lower myself to such a degree and take on a weak form like that just to try your food? Now you are truly saying some ridiculous shit.)

(Whatever Arc, it’s your loss.)

Everyone was lost to the pizza when Marty came walking in. She inhaled deeply through her nose.

“What a glorious smell. Jentson I didn’t know ya could cook.”

Kazuki tossed Marty a plate.

“Try some, you won’t regret it.”

Marty took a whiff of the cheese pizza and it smelled heavenly. She didn’t doubt Kazuki in the slightest and took a large bite. Instantly the weight of the world fell away and a dumb smile spread across her face.

“Ya old young dog…This is delicious, no beyond that. I can’t even seem to find the right words. Is all of the food in the Lower Realms like this? I may have to go down there and take a look around if this is the level of food.”

Kazuki chuckled.

“No, this is my personal skill. Actually, I can’t say for sure but with my way of making different species of plants and animals along with the way the food is grown and fed, I highly doubt there’s another that tends to the process so meticulously the way that I do. You never know though.”

Marty was intrigued.

“Maybe ya can show me the process.”

“Hmm, are you actually interested? I thought you only had eyes for research and building and flying gliders.”

Marty ate some more pizza while teasing.

“I have other interests and they seem to grow the more I am around ya. Speaking of which, with those parts ya gifted me, my new glider is coming along great.”

“Oh, are you building the same type or

Before Kazuki could finish his sentence, Marty interrupted him.

“Are ya interested? Too bad I’m not gonna show ya, hehe, at least not yet. When the little beauties completed, ya can be sure it will be a masterpiece.”

This grabbed Samuel’s interest.

“You’re building a new glider. The way you said it, it sounds like it will be better than before.”

“Samuel…ya have no idea. This little lady doesn’t kiss and tell though. So ya boys will just have to wait, hehe.”

Marty then turned to Ksoaru and Mei.

“That’s right, I’ve heard about the both of ya but we haven’t been properly introduced. The names Marticia but since you two are close with Jentson ya can be close with me and call me Marty instead. I heard you like racing little Kosaru, is that true?”

Kosaru’s eyes brightened and his ears perked up.

“Yep yep! Big brother Kazuki built me my own obstacle course in a Lower Realm. We raced across many star systems and it was a lot of fun.”

Kosaru suddenly remembered that he wasn’t supposed to say too much about the past and cautiously looked over at Kazuki but Kazuki just smiled.

“That much is fine, don’t worry but do be careful Kosaru.”

Kosaru remembered it well and etched it into his heart.

Samuel and his servants were curious but knew they shouldn’t ask so they didn’t.

Marty though now knew about Kazuki’s past.

“Well, I don’t have an obstacle course but when I finish building my glider, I guarantee it will be faster than anything you’ve ever seen or experienced.”

Kosaru was now excited and looking forward to this so-called glider thingy.

Marty then turned her attention to Mei.

“I hear you’re pretty fast your self but you seem to be a little more interested in strength.”

Mei glanced at Kazuki but Kazuki encouraged her.

“Yes, Mei is very interested in how strong I can be. What about you big sis…Marty are you interested in strength is that why you have a boys name?”

Mei asked this with sincerity, not ill intent but it still caused others, including Kazuki to laugh.

“Heh, Marty, I’ve also been curious since the day we met, why did you pick that nickname?”

Marty’s joyful expression soon turned sad before she shook some memories away.

“I didn’t pick the name. Someone close to me did…He is no longer around.”

It quickly became awkward and quiet. Kosaru didn’t quite understand what was happening and just kept eating but everyone else just sat there and soaked the heavy atmosphere in.

“Big sis Marty, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you upset.”

“Forget it, Mei, I shouldn’t have brought it up. It was a long time ago and a lot of things have changed…I’ve changed. It still makes me sad sometimes but…things aren’t so bad anymore.”

These words hit Mei deeply. Not just her but Samuel who just lost his father and even Kazuki who had his own loss, they all felt a sting from this.

Marty saw that she brought the mood down and began to laugh.

“Forget it! Right now, I’m happier than I’ve been in a long long while. I’m alive, I have a friend I can truly trust, and a new glider coming along nicely, and now this pizza. Life is amazing.”

Mei looked at Kazuki and knew exactly what he was feeling because she was feeling the same for her mother and the others she lost. She grabbed Kazuki’s hand and gave it a strong squeeze.

“Big brother…I’m happy I’m with you and little Kosaru.”

Kazuki smiled and squeezed her little hand back. Warmth spread in his chest.

“I’m happy you two are with me as well.”
