Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 121

Viz could tell that Kazuki spoke with absolute confidence. Whether his words were believable or not, at the very least, Kazuki believed them.

“What the fuck are you talking about? Samuel said the Infinity Blades will be arriving soon. Once we have them, they will sell without delay. Of course we will have money.”

Kazuki walked around the room and pulled a sheet off of a large couch before sitting down.

“Maybe the first shipment since it is already almost here but what comes after? Adigus is alive and Terinus isn’t. With Samuel’s father dead, his family will fall. As you know, he’s already lost contact with all of his brothers. We can presume them dead and Adigus is most likely responsible. Only two people know how to construct these weapons. The original expert who made these products and sold them, and Terinus. With Terinus gone, that leaves this hidden expert that even Samuel knows very little about.”

“What is your point? You keep speaking about Adigus as if he’s my problem. Even if he as, I could easily deal with him.”

“My point is this. Adigus is most likely taking control of the business from the other brothers, that leaves Samuel. He will eventually come for Samuel and the business, our business. You may be powerful but do you believe that Adigus has not calculated at least one or two obstacles already? He won’t come alone and he will be prepared. You can take one or two Gods all by yourself but what of three or ten? The business will be ripped away and us dead. Your dreams of venturing through the universe, all of that will be flushed down the drain.”

“Say all of this is true, how does this bring us back to me trusting you?”

“Do you think I want to lose? The things I’ve witnessed and experienced let me show you a fraction of them.”

Kazuki extended his aura with a few core memories of battles he’s gone through. Viz took a look and he was intrigued and surprised. Beyond these fights though, Kazuki kept the rest of his memories hidden.

“These battles are impressive for a weak being such as you but why are you showing them to me? What is the point exactly?”

“The point is that I have been down bad many a time. The odds stacked against me. In most of those fights, I was completely outmatched and should not have won. I should be buried deep down by now but I’m not. I survived each and every time because when it comes to thinking on my feet I have no equal. I use whatever I can to my advantage and I do not stop.”

Viz liked Kazuki’s boasting and yet at the same time, Kazuki’s tongue was not twisted. Viz had just seen many fights and Kazuki really was at a disadvantage. Viz would normally overwhelm his opponent with greater power but with Kazuki, he could not do that in those days. He had to out-think and come up with some truly outrageous plots to escape death and overcome his foes.

“From what you just showed me, your battle sense is indeed great. So by all of this, you’re saying you have thought of a way to win, to beat Adigus at his own game and see us through to the end?”

“That’s exactly what I’m saying. Adigus may be ahead to some degree but he has not won just yet but if we are to win, we need to move fast. That is why I need your help and I need you to not break my trust by looking into my soul world. We can do this but only if there is a clear lead. Only if things do not break down between us.”

“The way you say it, It’s almost as if you’ve already seen the future. I have to wonder though, are your secrets so precious that you would risk dying and losing everything just to protect them? You’re correct, you need my help, more than I need you that’s for damn sure. In the end, if things don’t go well for me, I can easily lose this castle, I can easily run away and be nothing more than a thought to those that would see me dead. Starting over in some other place far away without regrets, that actually doesn’t sound too terrible. So why should I help you? If one venture fails I could easily start another, no?”

“If that were true, you would already be long gone. You would not be stuck here in this crumbling city in this decrepit castle with one servant. Your dreams would be fulfilled and you would not be…where you are in life. Besides all of that, if starting over were so easy, do you think I who have survived through all that harsh shit, do you think I would still need to hide my secrets?”

Viz took this to heart and felt a sting in his ego. Kazuki was not wrong. If things were that effortless as he said, his life would be completely different right now.

“You have been a lone wolf all this time and it has gotten you nowhere. You are stubborn and do not bend to the will of others but what I ask of you is not to become a puppet but something else entirely.”

“And that’s what exactly, a tool for you to use whenever and wherever. How is that any different from a puppet in your eyes?”

“It’s not really but when did I say I wish for you to be my tool? No, what you will become is my ally. An equal fitting to stand on the same level as you. In doing so, you will gain in ways you can’t possibly imagine.”

Viz grabbed his stomach and started laughing wildly.

*Bwahahahahaha*

“You…You’re serious. I a God see you as an equal. How utterly ridiculous.”

Kazuki didn’t get mad but instead, he smiled.

“Yes, an equal. You laugh now but think about the memories you just witnessed. From the first battle to the last did you see anything odd or notice anything about any of them?”

Viz thought for a moment but couldn’t think of anything.

“Not particularly. You obviously have something to say about it though so just say it. What is it that I overlooked? What is it in those battles you think will make me change my mind about your ridiculous notion?”

Viz was smirking but again Kazuki felt no offense. He too would and does find someone at the 7th stage equal to a God to be an absolute joke and fantasy but Kazuki was not asking to be seen as an equal just yet. One of the most valuable assets Kazuki had on his side was his potential.

“From my first fight to the last one you witnessed, I had no Mage core all the way to now being at the Convergence stage. In several of these fights I had little to no magic at all and from the first to last fight to reach the 7th stage, how long do you think it took me to reach such a level? Actually how long would you say it takes the average person to reach the 7th stage, how many years?”

Viz was now curious. He recalled long ago how long it took him to go from the first stage all the way to the 7th. he was quicker than others so he basically doubled the number in his head.

“50,000 years if one is quick. For me, it took around half that but I have no equal on that front. I recognize that you are talented so I’ll say for you it took 40,000 years or so to reach the 7th stage. Tell me, am I close?”

Kazuki held up all of the fingers on one hand.

“Oh was I wrong did it actually take you 50,000 years? Isn’t that a bit slow?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“Not 50,000 but five. Well, technically less than five but I’ll round up just for you.”

Viz’s eyes widened and he felt Kazuki was joking around and humiliating him.

“LIES!”

Kazuki was about to send another memory when Viz sent his own aura over. Kazuki thought Viz was about to look at his soul, instead, he just checked Kazuki’s age and the age of his soul. With this he could tell down to the millisecond on both his age along with the moment he became a 7th stage.

When Viz did this, he finally let out an audible gasp and his eyes widened in shock.

“It’s true!”

It was true but Kazuki of course had massive help. If he did not have the devouring spinning void inside, and if he didn’t use it on Etora, Glacious, and the Ancient beast king, he would be nowhere near this level but this was something Viz did not need to know. Thankfully Viz did not look any deeper or his temper might have flared from Kazuki’s tricky language.

“Maybe right now you don’t see me as an equal but at the rate I’m going, how long before I become a God, and a powerful one at that? As I said I don’t want you as a tool but as an ally. If you help me and I help you, your dreams will be closer than ever to becoming a reality.”
