Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 132

After Viz left, Mei and Kosaru came running in with excitement. Kosaru landed on Kazuki’s shoulder and began chatting away without reserve.

“Big brother, this place is amazing, there are so many rooms and other places we can hide and play.”

Kazuki patted his head before asking him.

“So you two were playing when a crisis was upon us?”

Kosaru’s eyes widened.

Kazuki chuckled.

“I’m messing with you. It was good you two stayed away. Things were a breath away from disaster.”

Kosaru breathed a sigh of relief.

“Big brother, that’s not funny. I wanted to rush over but Big sis wouldn’t let me. She said you would handle it like you always do. I could have helped though.”

“Mei, is that true?”

Mei grabbed Kosaru and held him close to her chest.

“If you needed us, you would have called on us. Since you didn’t it means you had it under control. Did I do something wrong?”

“No, you read it right. If I need you to help it means the situation is one that I can’t quite handle myself but just need an extra pair of hands. If I don’t call upon you, it means I have the situation handled and you two should stay put. If things cannot be handled by me alone and I feel the danger is too great. That will be the signal for you two to run away.”

Kosaru didn’t like this one bit.

“We won’t leave you, Big brother! If you tell us to run I’ll refuse and help you fight to the end.”

Kazuki’s expression darkened and his aura covered Kosaru. Kosaru felt a chill run down his spine.

“No. You will do exactly as I say and run away with all your might. If you don’t follow my words, I will trap you in one of my worlds for a hundred thousand years if necessary. Do you understand or have you already forgotten our agreement from before?”

“But but big brot

Before Kosaru could say more, Mei covered his little mouth to shut him up.

“Sorry Big brother, Kosaru understands. He’s just excited right now because of the new castle. We’ll both listen no matter what.”

Kosaru was surprised to hear Mei say this but after a moment he stopped struggling as if some words were exchanged in secret between him and Mei. Kazuki could basically see their thoughts with his soul-reading ability. Mei wanted to help just as badly as Kosaru but she was trying to hold it in while also calming Kosaru down.

(I’ll have to fix that before things get serious. I can’t have a situation where things take a turn and these two go against my words.)

He knew they cared about him but he also understood it was this caring attitude of theirs that could be their downfall. Kazuki was about to say something when Marty grabbed his shoulder.

“Hey. Aren’t ya gonna introduce me and the kids to this fella?”

Kori stood tall by Kazuki’s side. Unmoving like a mountain, in a weird way he was both noticeable and yet unnoticeable.

“Mei, Kosaru, this is Kori. He will be joining us from this day forth so get used to his presence.”

They all had seen him earlier when he came forward in the busy street. That was only a short time ago but at the time he looked sickly and weak. His eyes were sunken in and his complexion pale. Now though all three of them could feel a powerful force around him. He was now a bit taller and his muscles had filled out yet he was still lean. He looked quite dangerous. Counter to that dangerous look, Kosaru, and Mei did not seem to care.

Kosaru leapt out of Mei’s hands and jumped onto Kori’s head and began running around on his shoulders back and forth while touching and pulling on his ears and cheeks.

“Wow, your skin is super super tough and you have fangs like mine.”

Kosaru bit down as hard as he could on the man’s scales and felt a pain in his teeth.

“Wow, so tough!”

Kori just stood there and took everything while Mei like a big sister grabbed Kosaur and peeled him off of Kori.

“Kosaru don’t do that! How can you just randomly bite people? That’s rude rude rude. I’m sorry about my little brother. He gets excited sometimes and acts up.”

Mei apologized but Kori didn’t answer or respond.

Mei tilted her head slightly in confusion.

“Kori? Big brother does he not talk?”

Kazuki gave the man a look and Kori responded to him and not Mei.

“Master, I did not know if you wished for me to respond to them or not. Nor in what manner if I do. Are they your guest or friends? If I make a mistake, it could ruin your reputation and so on.”

Kazuki had a strange thought.

(A God normally does not behave in such a way. They are eccentric and self-centered. Even if he has no memory his powers are overwhelming. One would not usually submit so easily to those who are leagues weaker. At the very least if someone started climbing all over you, you would not remain silent. This behavior of his, it seems to be long-ingrained. Could this man have been a servant in the past? A God servant…it sounds ridiculous.)

“Do not worry about my reputation. As for who they are, The small one is Kosaru, he is my little brother and the young lady is my little sister though watch it, she hates being called little. The woman next to you is a close and trusted friend. She goes by Marty. She may come off as weird at times but I promise she’s mostly harmless. As for me, you can refer to me as Jentson for now.”

“But Master is Master.”

Kazuki put a hand up.

“Don’t call me that.”

“But I am your slave and you

“I know I know. Even still, I prefer Jentson. Having someone call me Master just does not sit right. So just call me Jentson, got it? As for you being a slave. You may face life and death and things may be grueling but I won’t mistreat you so you can speak freely and move freely within a certain distance from me. With your power, you will know when I need you and when I don’t so move about within reason.”

Kori began to understand. Even though he was a slave, the way Kazuki treated him like he was an employee instead of a servant felt off but if this was the command of his Master, he would not and could not dispute it.

“I…Understand Master.”

Kazuki raised a brow.

“Do you. I thought I just said not to call me that.”

Kori smiled.

“You did but as you can see the slave mark on my head did not activate. After you said to call you Jentson you then said I can speak freely. When it comes to slave marks, they follow a certain power of the soul. It will go off the last order you spoke of. So should I speak freely or not?”

Kazuki smiled upon hearing this. This was, kind of cheeky in his opinion.

“You know what, fine, I’ve never had a slave, speak freely. I’ll only be offended when I am offended.”

“When will that be Master?”

Kazuki shrugged.

“I don’t know, I guess you’ll just have to find out and see if you stepped on a land mine or if you’re walking through a park.”

“A land mine. What is that?”

Kazuki laughed inwardly.

“I’ll tell you some other time. For now, I have a few simple things you must follow besides what I just spoke of. Everyone in this room, you are not allowed to harm them. The boy outside is called Samuel and the servants Chaka and Bersik, you will not harm them either.”

Kazuki pointed at a wall to the side and Kori looked through the wall and saw the people Kazuki pointed out.

“As for anyone else, if they try and harm me or anyone else in this room and the others I just pointed out, you will defend us.”

“Master, you do not wish for me to kill those that attack you?”

“It depends. if it is a God, kill them as quickly as possible without going out of range of me. If it is a Demigod capture them for me and anyone lower than that I can easily handle myself.”

This time it was Marty who was confused.

“Why capture Demigods and not finish them?”

“If Kori here kills them it will slow my personal progress. I’d rather he catch them and I kill them myself. It’d be great if he could catch a God but that is asking for too much. As for those at a lower level they are simply small fry and can be dealt with in a flash.”

“Master if it’s catching a God…I believe I can do it.”

When Kori said this, the entire room fell silent.
