Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 55
After the sand king was knocked back into the wall, Kazuki’s confidence grew. The chain in his hand began spinning again and picking up more and more momentum.
“Come on you maggot king. Come at me!”
The sand king slowly emerged from the wall and rose up above Kazuki. A small cut now ran down the center of the great beast’s head. It was barely noticeable, only a few inches long but the fact was, a wound did appear and Kazuki was the cause. Once the sand king’s head was far and above Kazuki, it opened its mouth.
Kazuki expected this and got ready to whip the worm once again but what he didn’t expect was for the worm to not try and swallow him or his soul. Instead, the sand king opened its jaws as wide as possible before sending out a rain of mucus. Not just a projectile like the others but instead a full-on rain.
“This is?”
Kazuki quickly understood what the worm was trying to do.
(He’s trying to stop my movements. I can’t let this happen. Must avoid it!)
Kazuki dropped to the ground and tried to find a nearby body to take shelter under but found not a single one. At this point in time, the corpses had either been devoured by him or had been reduced to puddles of sticky blood by the rampaging sand king.
Kazuki moved like a blur and swung and spun his paddle all around deflecting as much of it as possible as he looked for another solution but the sand king was not having it. The king whipped its tail back and forth, not to crush Kazuki but rather to create a torrent of wind. This wind caused the rain of mucus to fly in not only from up above but also to send it swooping in sideways and all around.
Kazuki could not deflect and block this rain and began to get drops on his body here and there. Running to the wall, he delivered a powerful fist that rocked their surroundings and he dug himself into the wall creating a small tunnel. This shelter though wouldn’t last.
*BANG BOOOM CRACK!*
Blow after blow the sand king slammed its body into the wall and the small tunnel Kazuki escaped into was destroyed and he was once again exposed. Not only that but as the king continued to spew its filthy mucus, the foul-smelling liquid quickly covered the walls and began to harden. Kazuki sent out a kick towards the wall but this time it didn’t break, he couldn’t break it as the mucus hardened.
Not just the walls but the ground as well became incredibly tough and it started to harden around Kauzki’s feet sticking him to the ground. If he really did become immobile here, he knew his death would not be far off.
(If I don’t get away fast I’ll become stuck and still like a statue.)
Dangerous thoughts flashed through his mind before he swung the paddle at his ankles and severed his feet from his body. As he fell face forward, in order to avoid becoming stuck to the ground, he tore off his shirt and with regrown feet, he tossed the shirt to the ground and jumped off of it as hard as possible.
Kazuki soared through the air and found only one option. Swinging the chain forward he caught another of the snake’s sensory hairs and pulled himself up. His body was starting to get soaked in mucus and he could feel parts hardening at a rapid rate. In order to avoid a living statue situation, Kazuki continued to sever parts of his body. He changed things up and with one hand he blocked anything from landing upon his head while using his aura inside to cut off arms and legs here and there.
Racing upward, he came face to face with the devilish worm. Placing some of his aura inside one of his arms he severed both the arm and the aura before tossing this aura-infused arm at the sand king. The fin atop the sand king’s head snapped in his direction as it sensed the aura inside of this disposed arm. The king’s mouth opened wide as it instantly devoured the aura in the severed arm. This is what Kazuki was waiting for. The chain whipped out and caught a tooth inside. With a flick of his wrist, Kazuki went flying toward the king’s mouth.
The sand king recognized something wasn’t right and tried to slam its mouth shut but Kazuki would not let this opportunity go. He took the paddle and threw it as hard as possible at one of the sensory hairs and struck it with everything he had.
The king twitched for but an instant but it was within this small window that Kazuki just barely managed to dive into the sand king’s mouth just as the jaws slammed tightly shut.
This though did not mean things would now be peaceful just because he was not out facing the great beasts, instead, things got a lot more chaotic.
Outside, the sand king began to thrash as if never before. It slammed its body back and forth. The world truly did crumble bit by bit while inside Kazuki was slammed and tossed around like a fucking rag doll. His body was tough but it could not stand up against the toughness of the worm. Even its insides were no different. Whenever the worm moved here or there with all of its might, Kazuki was crushed against the sides repeatedly.
His body was reduced to meat paste time and again. If not for the mucus skull he had, his head would have been long gone. Kazuki’s regeneration was the only reason he had lasted this long and he knew it.
(I can’t stop its movement, and the flesh inside is nearly as tough as the outside. If it continues like this, eventually even the armor around my skull will break! What…What can I do?)
Kazuki’s mind reeled as a million thoughts rushed through his head.
Smelling the same awful smell coming up the beast’s throat, Kazuki was reminded of the first time he ended up inside of a worm and it came to him. Kazuki had been avidly trying to prevent himself from slamming around inside the sand king’s mouth but now he no longer resisted.
His body was thrown all over and as wounds opened up all over, Kazuki stopped his regeneration and instead increased his blood production. As he was thrown about, he focused solely on his ki and collected all of his blood in a large barrier of ki. He could regenerate his entire body almost instantly so the amount of blood he could produce in a small time frame was incredible.
Very quickly he had gathered something akin to a pool’s worth of blood before he released his ki. With this, tons upon tons of blood fell directly into the sand king’s mouth and down its throat. Just a sit disappeared down its throat, Kazuki called out to Arc.
(ARC, RELEASE ALL THE MUCUS I HAVE IN MY RING RIGHT NOW!)
Even though Arc was fighting desperately, it still managed to activate Kauzki’s storage ring and release all of the mucus at once.
Kazuki once more used his ki like a container and held all of the mucus inside of it. At the same time, he shaped his ki into a mold causing the mucus to take on the shape of a single weapon or rather just the head of this weapon. A sphere covered in spikes it was a mace. This mace head was the perfect size for a particular bastard’s throat. Just as it was hardening, the sand king shook violently and Kazuki could feel everything around him quaking.
The sound of wind erupted from down below and Kazuki could see a geyser of vomit and mucus rushing up from below. Without a second thought, Kazuki released his ki and dropped the huge mace down the monster’s throat. As soon as it fell it immediately got wedged in tightly. Just for good measure, Kazuki stomped on it with everything he had and it became lodged.
Very quickly the geyser of vomit, blood, and mucus, hit the mace and became trapped.
“CHOKE ON IT YOU FUCKING BASTARD!”
The thrashing of the worm went from pure violence to something akin to panic and fear. Kazuki was again slammed around and was twisted up, torn, and smashed apart repeatedly inside but he was fine with this. All he needed to do was endure, endure, and endure some more.
Ten seconds passed then a minute then five. Kazuki wondered if this would actually go on forever but he never gave up. After what felt like an eternity, the sand king suddenly collapsed to the ground and its mouth fell open. The world stopped trembling and things became deathly silent. Kazuki slowly got up and walked out of the worm’s mouth.
(Did I…Win?)
