Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 63
After demanding both Marty and Kazuki kneel, Samuel stood there tapping his foot. The two looked at one another, and the manservant quickly fell to his knees and began begging.
“Young master, these two have just saved our lives. If you anger them
“Shut up. Did I ask for your input, Simmons? I represent the Cortail family. These people should be grateful to kneel before such a prestigious and glorious
*Whack*
Kazuki flicked the young boy in the forehead, causing him to fall down on his ass.
“I am no one’s servant, kid. Marty and I are friends.”
Simmons quickly jumped in front of his master and began begging for mercy.
“Please ease your anger, sir Jentson. If you cannot, then please redirect it at me and not my master. I beg of you, he’s just a child.”
At the same time, Samuel was holding his now-reddened forehead with both of his hands, and tears immediately started to pour down his face. He cried loudly, and Kazuki just laughed.
“Why do I have to deal with all of this? Simmons, this is your fault. First father sends me to some dumb city, and then our ship breaks down halfway here, and we get attacked by miscreants, and then when you people act all arrogant and even assault me. What did I do to deserve all of this misfortune?”
Samuel kept crying while Simmons was begging, and Marty and Kazuki were already tired of the sight. Kazuki released his aura for a split second, and they all felt indescribable fear at this moment. He could tell that the kid really was just a brat at the end of the day, so he didn’t go too hard on him. Still, he didn’t hold his tongue either.
“Kid, stop crying and think about why I just flicked you. I don’t know you, and you don’t know me. Yet after me and my friend saved your life, you tell us to kneel before you. Who the fuck do you think you are?”
Kazuki’s voice contained a fraction of his power as he spoke. This caused the boy to nearly wet himself as he held back his tears as best he could.
“But but, Father said people should respect our name, and they should show the appropriate amount of admiration and reverence.”
Kazuki shook his head.
“So your name should be respected, but ours shouldn’t. Does that make any sense? Not only that, you assumed I was my friend’s servant. Respect should be mutual right. I doubt your father told you to try and humiliate people who have helped you. Now stand up like a man and address me by my name, or I’ll flick you again.”
Samuel jumped to his feet without hesitation, but he didn’t quite know what to say.
“Um, Jentson, what should I say?”
“You could start with an apology.”
Samuel then genuinely bowed before apologizing.
“I’m sorry. I went too far.”
Marty nodded.
“Hehe, the kid is kind of cute when he apologizes. Right, I forgive ya but don’t act like that the next time ya meet strangers. Ya didn’t know who we were. Some people would have killed ya just for looking the wrong way.”
Kazuki also accepted the apology.
“Good, since you apologized, I’ll also say sorry for releasing my aura. Since we have both apologized and there is no reward, there’s little else to discuss. We’ll be on our way. Stay out of trouble, kid, and be careful with those words of yours.”
Kazuki and Marty were about to leave again when the kid suddenly shouted.
“WAIT!”
Kazuki just told him to watch the way he spoke, and the kid was now shouting at him. He began to wonder if the kid was stubborn or slow in the head.
The kid could see that his shouting was off-putting, and he quickly apologized again before continuing.
“Please wait. I’m not trying to stop you or anything. I realize I was brash, but as you can see, our ship is no longer able to move. Those bad men damaged it, and now we’re stuck here.”
The kid’s ring glowed, and several crystals appeared in his hand.
“I don’t have much on me at the moment, but if you feel it is appropriate, can this be considered as a down payment or partial reward?”
Kazuki didn’t know what kind of crystals these were, but he could feel divine energy surrounding them. Marty on the other hand became excited.
(Jentson those are divine crystals. With those, I can recover the rest of my power in an instant. Besides that, though, we can use those to get whatever we need in the city.)
(Divine crystals, so they are like currency. I thought they were used for the Vajra ships and for absorbing the power within.)
(Divine crystals are indeed used like currency; as a matter of fact, they are the main currency in the three Higher Realms. Even though I can absorb energy at a faster rate in this world, it’s still incomparable to using a divine crystal. They hold enormous amounts of untainted divine power that any demigod or God can use. In the Higher realms, Divine energy is the currency of choice.)
Samuel could see he had gotten the pair’s attention and continued.
“I can only give this much now, but if you get me safely to the city, I will give you not only an amount equal to my life that you just saved but even more for the protection. How does that sound?”
Kazuki chuckled inwardly. A moment ago they had gotten off on the wrong foot, but now the kid was asking them to safely escort him to the city. Kazuki didn’t hate this business-like attitude. It was refreshing in some ways.
(The kid is indeed from a merchant family.)
“Kid do you know how far the city is? It could take us years to get there just by flying alone.”
Samuel shook his head.
“Sir, we have already exchanged names, so if we are going to be respectful like you want, please call me Samuel. As for the flying problem, well why would we just be flying on our own power when you have a weird flying device?”
Kazuki and Marty were surprised the kid knew they had a glider.
“You know about that huh.”
Samuel nodded with a smile.
“I was looking for ways to escape and observed your arrival. I’ve never seen a strange black ship like yours. What is its name?”
“Name?”
Marty then barged in.
“My baby is called a glider. I’ve never given it a name, but I love the idea. Hey hey, Jenton, what should I name my glider? Something cool or something alluring like?”
Kazuki ignored Marty and continued.
“So you want us to get you to the city safely? Why should we believe that you will even pay us? After all, Simmons here didn’t give us shit even though he promised.”
Samuel glared at Simmons before sighing.
“My man here shouldn’t have done that, but it’s understandable as he was trying to protect me. As for trust, I swear on the name of my Cortail family, I will pay you what was promised if you escort me to the city safely. How is that?”
Kazuki shook his head.
“I don’t know anything about the Cortail family. The name holds no meaning; therefore, a promise or oath of it also holds no weight.”
“What, you’ve never heard of my master’s family. How is that possible? Everyone knows of the Cortails between the four main cities. Just where are you from exactly to not of even heard of the name Cortail!?”
Samuel as well as the other survivors were shocked and a few whispered among themselves.
“I am not from around here. Is it that weird to have never heard of your family?”
Samuel nodded.
“At least around the four-man cities, it is. I thought you two were no offense not very wealthy. To not hear of my family when you’re in the vicinity of one of the four main cities, should mean you two are travelers of distant worlds. To travel among different worlds though…is costly. Even my family with all of our wealth would only rarely travel from world to world through the stargate. The only other way to travel from world to world without it costing a fortune is to join one of the star path lords’ domains and work under them for a while. Since you did not announce you were from one of these factions, do not wear any of their colors, or seem to have an excessive amount of wealth, I don’t see how you could be such travelers and therefore you should be from around these parts and know of my family.”
Kazuki used what he had made earlier, and he explained that he was from a Lower Realm and had accidentally fallen into a Negative Zone. He didn’t mention the previous world he was on or anything else like that. Marty had gone through life and death with Kazuki, so she was on his side and went along with the story he told. She remembered the details as well, so if she needed to, she could retell it without missing a beat.
Afterward, everyone was lost for words.
(Kazuki, take the deal and add that into the reward.)
Suddenly Arc called out to Kazuki and told him to ask for an item Samuel wore on his wrist.
