Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 86
A little later, Kazuki, Samuel, and Marty all came downstairs to the first floor. Chaka, Simmons, and Bersik all wore worried expressions. They had rearranged and set up the shop according to Kazuki’s instructions but all three of them found it weird.
Some things were obviously out of place and some things were tacky. He had ordered them to place some of the higher-quality weapons in a simple barrel, along with many lower-quality weapons. Some things had signs on them that offered 50% off or more. At the same time, some of these items weren’t even reduced by 50%. Some had only been reduced by 5-10% while some had not been reduced in price at all.
The three servants had no clue what Kazuki was thinking, with the weird display and odd pricing. Kazuki though had taken these strategies directly from Earth.
Samuel walked around the room and still felt worried.
“Sir Jentson, are you sure this will work? This shield for example says it’s 33% off but the price is actually exactly the same as before.”
Kazuki walked over with a laugh.
“Trust me, this will work. Just the fact that people are told something cost less, will automatically make them believe they are getting a deal. This will work.”
Samuel could only trust Kazuki at this point. He was all in. Backtracking now was too dangerous and he really didn’t have any other ideas on how to increase their war chest in so little time. They needed to make a move now. Any waiting could be disastrous for them.
“I trust you Sir Jentson. Lady Marty as well. I will and have placed my future in your qualified hands.”
“Good. The first part is settled, now we have to let people know. If no one knows there’s a sale, what’s the point of a sale.”
“What are ya suggesting Jentson?”
“We need to advertise in some way. For this, the idea is actually quite simple.”
Kazuki lifted the barrier to the shop before the front door swung open. With a deep inhale, Kazuki filled his lungs with air and made sure to control his power just enough to not cause harm before he shouted into the depths of the busy city.
“HOLY FUCK! THIS SWORD IS HALF-PRICE. I CAN’T BELIEVE THE CORTAIL SHOP IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS AND SELLING EVERYTHING SO CHEAPLY. I BETTER TAKE ADVANTAGE BEFORE ANYONE ELSE TAKES NOTICE!”
Samuel and the three slaves stared at Kazuki as if he were insane. Marty on the other hand laughed before she joined in with him.
“WHY ARE YA TELLING THE WHOLE CITY? WE NEED TO KEEP THIS UNDERWRAPS. OTHERWISE, PEOPLE WOULD COME JUST TO BUY IT CHEAPLY HERE AND SELL IT HIGH AT ANOTHER SHOP!”
So so simple yet effective. Even if 99.9% of the people in the city found this obvious or fake, it did not matter. The .1% that would come just for curiosity’s sake would be more than enough to gather the appropriate attention.
The sound of heavy thumping feet rang out as hundreds of people suddenly came rushing around a corner. The moment they approached, these potential customers could see a sign hanging over the shop which clearly read.
[GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE]
The peaked interest of others went from mild curiosity to overwhelming greed. Many had the same thought. If they could buy a good piece of equipment for a lower price than even if they couldn’t personally use it, they could sell it for something higher at another shop. This sign was basically saying come and devour me.
The crowd rushed ahead towards the shop. Kazuki and Marty both found it funny because there were clearly Demigods and other strong folks among these people but because of the law in the city, they couldn’t run ahead at full speed. Instead, everyone moved at a pace equal to a normal human in fear of the law. Seeing these powerful figures hold their speed back, looked ridiculous because they were clearly annoyed.
Kazuki and Marty both returned to Samuel’s side as a tidal wave of customers came rushing in. The moment these people entered the store and saw signs all over stating half off here or 30% of there. These people’s eyes went wild and that greedy luster shone completely through.
Very quickly people grabbed this or that. At first, it looked like they were actually shopping for something specific but a single man changed everything when he grabbed a pile of shields and daggers and dropped them all on the counter, and bought them all up in an instant.
This greedy customer was, in fact, Kazuki in disguise and this had of course been discussed beforehand with the others. The moment he bought these things he disappeared out the front and came walking back in with his old man Jentson disguise.
When these customers saw a large pile of items being bought up so suddenly, they realized they weren’t surrounded by other customers but by vicious wolves. Suddenly another man reached forward and grabbed a handful of items and a woman near bye did the same. After that, it was a domino effect. These people would not dare miss out on such a steal of a deal and they all grabbed as much as they could off of various shelves and so on.
This sale was more like a fierce battleground as people were getting rowdy but with Marty giving them a glare, these people settled down. Many were already aware of the fight that had happened earlier and even though Marty did not fight, her name, along with Kazuki’s or rather the description of the two new guards of the Cortail shop had spread.
Everyone calmed down slightly but they still grabbed things like mad greed-filled goblins and rushed to the counter to pay.
Ten minutes…That was all it took for the entire stock of items, weapons and other gear to be sold out completely. Just as quickly as it had begun, it had ended and the shop was now deserted.
With no more customers and the shop completely emptied, Kazuki shut the door and reestablished the barrier. Not a moment later, the exploits of what had occurred had also spread and more customers had shown up ready to get a piece or two but it was too late. A sign on the door read [Closed] and that was that.
Marty, Samuel, Chaka, Bersik, and Simmons all stood there stunned. They had never witnessed something like this in their entire lives. Their customers had become like wild animals and had eaten up every single piece of equipment they had in minutes.
Kazuki turned and smiled at them and Bersik was the first to finally break his stun lock and silence. His short tail began to wag rapidly and he did a fist pump in celebration.
“Amazing, incredible, it was a frenzy, a frenzy of maximum proportion. I have never witnessed or experienced such…such an incredible thing. Sir Benefactor, I’m sorry for having earlier doubts. This was simply amazing.
Kazuki shrugged.
“People are greedy. Even if they don’t wish to admit it, would you pass by something of significant value and not pick it up if it were free? Some people of course can but for the most part, people wish to have more and more even if they say otherwise.”
Chaka and Bersik were celebrating and they were already counting all of the money from the sales. Kazuki’s sales for the most part were fake. Things he set for half off were really only a few percent off and some things had barely changed from their original price, It was just his large and bold purchase in front of the other customers wearing his disguise that got them all riled up. They had a fear of missing out and gobbled up whatever they could, lest they regret it later.
Because of this, the store actually gained a fat profit while avoiding any loss.
Samuel walke dover and grabebd Kazuki’s hands. His eyes were full of admiration.
“Sir Jentson, I’ve never heard of things going like this in any of my father’s other business nor from his rivals. You showed me something truly great today. I’ll take these lessons to heart, that you can bet on.”
Kazuki shook the kid’s hands away and pat the boy’s head. He realized this was treating him like a kid again and quickly stopped but this time the boy wasn’t upset and only stared at Kazuki like he were a true hero. Kazuki found this look from the kid funny. He had killed at least two demigods in front of the boy by now. One back on the ship and one in front of the shop but neither time did Samuel stare at him with such admiration.
Samuel was a fan of Kazuki’s strength and talked about the fights he had witnessed in the arena with such vigor but the look the kid had right now trumped all the others. In the end, the boy was a true businessman through in through.
