Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 92

A loud bell rang out indicating Kazuki’s match was about to begin. Across the platform, two people appeared and one of them walked onto the stage.

“Looks like I’m up.”

“Good luck Sir Jentson.”

Marty laughed hearing the boy.

“Ya think this old young dog needs luck, hah.”

Kazuki nodded before jumping onto the platform. Even though the arena could hold hundreds upon hundreds of thousands, those that were actually interested in Kazuki’s fight only numbers a few thousand. These were the ones who overheard Kazuki’s remarks and found him to be too full of himself and wished to see him be cut down. Out of those few thousand spectators, only a small handful of a few people actually rooted for Kazuki.

They had seen his fight with the Demigods outside of Samuel’s shop and knew he had a bite to go along with that bark of his. They also wished to gloat. When they placed bets on Kazuki, many people sneered at them and called them fools. Well, they wanted Kazuki to win not only for their bets but also to see the dumbfounded expressions of all those who looked down on them.

Up above, Viz also watched with curiosity.

Kazuki came face to face with his opponent. The man was of average build and had a pair of white feathered wings on his back. A bright golden helmet covered his face. The instant the two stood before one another, the two didn’t hesitate to check the other’s power. Just before they could though, a third person appeared between the two and he spread his own aura and blocked the two.

A demigod stood in between Kazuki and his opponent. His aura was much greater than the winged fighter but Kazuki felt if he folded his aura half a dozen times, he could block the short Demigod’s aura completely and even counter it.

The short demigod had tiyn ears and large wide eyes. It looked more like a cartoon than an actual being. The short fellow spoke in a calm manner.

“I hear this is your first-time Jentson. Since your new, I’ll go over the rules so open your ears and pay attention. Today you two will do combat. You are not allowed to sue soul attacks of any kind. Since most folks here can’t even observe it, it makes for a boring match so none of that will take place here. You must remain in the outlined area.”

The demigod pointed around the stage as well as a small point in the air.

“Stay within the defined perimeter. If you leave the area for any reason, if you are tossed out of the area I just showed you, it will count as an automatic loss. You can kill your opponent in any way you see fit however if your opponent surrenders, you must honor it and not take their life. If you do take their life after they have already surrendered you will be placed in servitude for no less than 10,000 years and will be the sole property of one of the three factions who own this arena. That or you can pay a fine of 500 million divine crystals. Besides these rules, you can use any power and any weapon. If you agree, we can start the match right away. Any objections fighters?”

The man wearing the golden helmet said nothing and only smiled. Kazuki shook his head.

“Sounds fine to me. Let’s do this.”

The demigod nodded before snapping his fingers. The moment he did this, a large barrier covered not only the stage but the immediate air space above the stage, creating a dome of power around the three of them.

The demigod released his aura and surrounded the both of them as a measure to keep them in place until he gave the word to start. For the golden helmet opponent, this pressure was intense and could kill him at any moment but for Kazuki, he barely felt it.

The demigod stepped back and into the sky where he could watch from above. Raising his hand above him, he threw it down in one go and shouted.

“BEGIN!”

The second his words fell, he released his aura so the two could move about freely.

Helmet boy didn’t hesitate to leap backward. A large bow twice as big as he appeared in his hands, and a golden arrow 10ft in length, surrounded by golden light took aim at Kazuki. The man inhaled deeply before roaring at the top of his lungs.

“TRY THIS!”

The moment the golden arrow of light shot forward, the tip turned into dense frozen ice and the power of gravity increased the weight of the arrow by several million times.

If they were in a Lower Realm, the entirety of said Lower Realm would be torn asunder and there would be nothing left. This though would not be nearly enough to even be a bother for Kazuki. Kazuki’s hand blurred for an instant. The only ones who saw it were the few Gods who were watching and only a few extremely powerful Demigods.

The very next moment, the golden arrow that had almost reached Kazuki, as if it never existed at all, vanished. At the same time, the shouting golden helmet boy became silent and didn’t move. Kazuki smiled before turning and looking at the Demigod overseeing the match.

“Are you not going to call the match.”

The overseer was confused before he looked at the golden helmet boy and suddenly realized.

“He’s dead! Since when!?”

The moment he said this, the entire crowd went silent and they all became confused but the few who bet on Kazuki were already standing up and celebrating and cheering.

Half a second later, the golden helmet split cleanly down the middle. Following that, the man’s entire body fell away in two clean halves. The silent and confused crowd began to murmur before many stood up and decried the situation. None of them had witnessed what had happened but now the favorite for the fight was dead, just like that.

The Demigod ref as well was at a loss. He quickly appeared next to the now dead fighter. Even though he could already sense that the fighter was dead and could see it from where he was at, he still found the situation unbelievable and had to get closer to make sure he wasn’t losing his mind.

Sanding above the two halves, this was obviously pointless. The man was dead, beyond dead. One could literally not get any deader than this.

“Overseer, I won right?”

The Demigod was still looking at the two halves. The chunks were cut so precisely and so fast that the insides were somehow sealed within and refused to spill out. The Overseer found this both incredible and mysterious. Even with all his knowledge and skill, he did not think he could make such a clean cut. Finally, he turned back to Kazuki, before turning to the crowd and announcing.

“JENTSON!…WINNER!”

The crowd jumped to their feet. Not in celebration but instead in anger and more confusion. These people began to shout and boo. Many proclaimed Kazuki as a cheater and said the fight was rigged and demanded an explanation and so on and so forth. The crowd attracted the audiences of the other stages and soon all eyes had shifted away from other fights and landed upon Kazuki and the enraged and confused audience.

As the noise grew and grew, it seemed as if these people would attack at any given moment when a booming voice echoed out all around.

“SILENCE! YOU DARE QUESTION THE AUTHORITY OF THE ARENA!”

Three people appeared in the sky all at once. One in a wisp of shadowy smoke, one n a blaze of white flames, and another seemed to have just appeared as if he was always there, to begin with. The three stood shoulder to shoulder and glared down at any and all who questioned the results. Though after the initial shout, everyone went quiet and dared not refute a single thing.

Kazuki couldn’t help but swallow hard when these three arrived.

(Kazuki, be careful, the three are Gods.)

Even without Arc’s warning, Kazuki could tell, their presence was just too different. Kazuki felt that all three of them were forces that were beyond him. If they wished to kill him with a thought, then he would be obliterated. They all gave off an air similar to his grandfather Orberus. The three of them were not ones to be messed with.

The one who had come from fire lowered his voice.

“Have you people forgotten who we are? Our reputation is worth more than every last one of your lives. Do you think we would sully it so easily and fake a fight? EMBARRASSING! ALL OF YOU! This little one was a little fast and almost all of you missed his simple move. Here, take a look!”

A recording crystal appeared in the sky and replayed Kazuki’s battle. They all saw the arrow coming at Kazuki and in the final moment, his hand moved. The recording suddenly slowed by several thousand times as it caught Kazuki grabbing the infinity blade at his waist and swinging it a single time. This one slash carried an incredible force behind it. It completely cut through and destroyed the golden arrow before continuing forth and cutting his opponent from top to bottom.

Everyone in the stands suddenly looked on with stunned and embarrassed expressions.
