Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 102
While Kazuki and his small group headed toward the Black mountain, outside the Black gate things were changing.
In the depths of space, tears ripped open and closed Chaotic space continuously. The Black Gate was moving through space unaffected by the dangers around it. It was the size of many small Realms combined and as it soared across the stars, it was almost as if a strange mirage shrouded it.
As it careened through space, at its tail end many Vajra ships followed after it. Until recently there were many Gods that tried to get close and enter it or discover some clues about its boundless mysteries. These Gods could be considered foolish. The foul dark energy surrounding the Black gate moved to and fro like the tides in a vast ocean.
One moment this dark energy was billions or trillions of miles from the center. Many Gods greatly underestimated the reach of these waves and got too close for comfort. The dark energy swept over them and destroyed their souls and degraded their bodies into particles.
This energy left nothing behind except storage items and other items with unique properties. The dark energy could easily invade things that contained a soul like a Divine Soul weapon or people in general. This meant that most equipment were left relatively unharmed. This in turn meant that after a wave of this dark energy swept out. After it retreated back into itself, it would leave a treasure trove of storage items and so on.
The greed of people was something one could not contain. Even knowing the dangers, millions of Gods risked everything to try and get just a handful of these storage items.
Thus the process would repeat itself as more and more casualties would pile up at a record rate.
Even those that managed to escape the dark energy or the vast gravitational pull of the Black gate, and even after surviving the tears of Chaotic space. Those that had treasures would then be ganged up on by those that stayed back and waited. A vicious cycle took place for all of these stragglers. Those without companions and groups that rolled with armies could only be picked off one by one by other slightly bigger groups.
In this way, 10,s of millions of lesser weaker Gods were mowed down and swept up in death before they even had a chance to enter the Black gate.
Several factions and clans watched on from their Vajra ships and laughed and cheered at the fools who died left and right. This was quite the entertainment for them. Not often did one see millions of Gods die in quick succession.
At the same time, this thrill and laughter was a way to ease their own nerves and anxiousness. They all knew what would soon come and were taking this small window to relax before everything went to shit.
Looking across from one ship to the next, these people would soon be their enemies. They would slaughter one another, spilling oceans of blood so that their group could obtain the ultimate treasure. At least that’s the best they could hope for. Rumors started, none knew from who or how but they all heard the same thing. A treasure…A Realm-altering Artifact lay hidden somewhere in the depths of the Black gate. With it, the balance of power would completely change. The clan or faction that took hold of it could literally rule all Three Higher Realms and all below them.
If they entered the Black gate, and all rumors turned out to be mere speculation…That would lead to an even greater disaster. This was a once-in-a-lifetime event. If it was all for naught…Well, no one knew how they could recover from that. Everything would have been for nothing. The sacrifices that would occur, if this really led to an empty dream…The balance of power might really shift as the anger and sense of loss would affect all.
As these Vajra ships followed at a safe distance, their raucous laughter and cheer soon came to a dead silent stop. With their silence, so too did the ships come to a sudden stop as everyone watched the scene unfolding in front of them.
The Black gate had stopped moving. It had been moving for eons and nothing had ever been able to stand in its way nor stop it yet here it was, unmoving, still. The dark energy surrounding its entirety, before all eyes witnessing it, the energy pulled inward. Everyone watched with belated breaths as this poisonous dark cloud of power sank into the center of the Black gate. Very quickly it was revealed that this energy did not just disappear but actually entered 7 worlds. These seven worlds surrounded an 8th world.
The 8th world sat directly in the middle of the 7 other planets. From the outside looking in. After the 7 planets took in all of the dark energy. It looked as if 7 pitch black pearls surrounded a single emerald marble.
No one knew how but someone among these people whispered.
“The jewel of the universe.”
This one simple statement reverberated in the minds of everyone there. Looking upon this beautiful rich green surrounded by the harsh darkness. They all felt that this statement was absolutely true.
As if responding to this random person’s words, the green emerald… At this exact moment, The jewel of the universe pulsed with powerful energy. It was Origin energy.
All eyes went wide and again someone spoke or rather they shouted.
“FORWARRRRRRRRRRRDDDD!”
Because everyone was on a Vajra ship and was covered in barriers. They all heard this person shouting as clear as day.
A chill ran down hundreds of millions of Gods’ spines at once and millions of Vajra ships lit up with a brilliant glow. The sails shined with a radiant silver light and fluttered as if each and every one caught a powerful and ever-swift wind.
All at once millions of Vajra ships shout forward at the same time. The force of millions of Vajra ships taking off at once was something the surroundings could not take. Space tore in their wake and a strong suction force erupted directly behind them. A tear that was several million miles wide and could destroy all life that got sucked into it formed but none of these Gods cared.
They all began to empty their storage items and inject them directly into their ships. This fuel sent the speed and power of these ships climbing above the heavens. These ships broke away from this entangling force and shot forward at speeds that no God could ever hope to match with their body alone.
This of course meant some people were slightly faster than others at escaping the pulling force of Chaotic space. These few ships pulled out in front and took the lead. A few though would not lose just because they acted late.
A few of these Vajra ships were special even among the others. Some of these ships were crafted and built by true masters. These ships could move unlike others and they swiftly caught up and overtook the ones who led out in front at the beginning.
Seeing this was a devastating blow to millions of others. Many wondered if they should attack from behind but they knew if they did that, they would instantly become the target of others. All they could do is watch painfully as several ships went ahead faster than the rest.
In their hearts, they vowed to kill these bastards and claim their Vajra ships so that they would never be the ones left behind in the future.
Traversing from their original spots to the green jewel of the universe did not take much time. Very quickly they approached the beautiful green world and prepared to enter it at full speed.
Just as they were about to enter and search this world for the prize they so wished for, suddenly these ships all struck something like a wall.
*BANG BOOOOM CRACK BOOOOOOOM!*
Even in the depths of space, due to the power of these ships, one could hear them as they crashed into this invisible wall and exploded on the spot. These ships that were well above other ships and were considered priceless treasures themselves, in one single act were reduced to tiny debris instantly.
Everyone that was in the back looked on in both horror and glee. At the same time, they all came to a sudden halt as they were not trying to meet an early grave.
These split factions and clans all were at a loss for what to do. They sent out their auras and tried to investigate but the closer their power got to the invisible wall, the more their powers failed them and their senses returned them nothing. Something was interfering with their senses. This caused them to be even more cautious.
As the debris finally began to clear, to their surprise, they could see a handful of survivors. They all had their own secret methods and treasures that had preserved their lives. Amongst one of these survivors, one person had been knocked unconscious and taken heavy soul damage.
This unconscious God was floating seemingly aimlessly while knocked out and while doing so they floated closer to the green world. It was then that something odd happened.
