Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 136

The man felt a mix of emotions after learning that all of his past lives, all the suffering, all the loss, in the end, it was all for this supreme being’s entertainment.

(Everything that I am, everything that I’ve witnessed and endured, all of it was to relieve your boredom for a brief moment. My wife, my baby girl, this power you have could have saved them. It could have prevented all of the past tragedies. Not just my own but anywhere there is suffering, anywhere disaster lays its hand. You could fix it all. The diseases, famine, rape, murder, the horrors of WARRRRRRRRRR! The power to change REALITY ITSELF! You hold it all and yet, you’re utterly selfish. This…This is a joke, it has to be. I’m lost in a deep dream and I can’t wake up. Gods wake me up I beg of you.)

The man began to sob. He cried for those he lost and he cried for all of his past lives and he cried because he realized something. This path, it was something that would never end. If he was this almighty’s entertainment, it meant he could never escape this ultimate being’s grasp.

He was an eternal slave, created for the whims of the supreme being.

The supreme one smiled watching this.

(Now this is different. I’ve never revealed the truth to you before but on this occasion I did and look what it’s brought, something…interesting, something new. I wonder, what other new things can I bring out of you? What other? I’m fighting the urge to look into the future and see what other surprises you’ll bring me.”

The man screamed and shouted as he tried to punch the shapeless being.

(DEVIL! MONSTER! IT’S YOUR FAULT, EVERYTHING’S YOUR FAULT! MY WIFE, MY CHILD, GIVE THEM BACK TO ME!)

Every punch this man through went through the shapeless supreme one and there was absolutely no effect.

“A devil, monster. How odd. I am not a devil nor a monster. Those little lowly things are nothing compared to me. I can reshape the universe with a mere thought. I am the infinite one true. Nothing is above me and everything is below. As for your wife and child, you will soon forget them just as you’ve forgotten everyone else. Now, where shall I put you this time?)

As soon as the shapeless supreme one said this, an infinite number of worlds appeared below them. The supreme one’s eyes glowed with infinite light as it looked for a proper place to put this man.

(Maybe a peasant, or how about a king? No, kings are boring. I much prefer the times when you rise up and achieve greatness. It brings me joy to see a lowly one think itself strong. By the time you die and return to me, you give off an interesting response. The reaction when you realize how small you are compared to this almighty one is priceless. Yes, that will be good. I’ll place you in a desperately horrible situation and watch as you strive and struggle against the world. Hopefully, you will last long enough to have a chance to achieve greatness and entertain me to the fullest.”

The supreme one held up a hand and placed it upon the man’s head. The man who had given up, the man who felt he was nothing in this universe, he wanted to just give in. He could feel the supreme one’s power begin to flow inside him and just as he felt his mind was about to be erased, something came to him. A tiny, insignificant idea struck him and a spark inside him lit and became a blazing inferno.

The man did not know if it would work but it was his only option as he shouted at the top of his lungs.

(WAIT!)

The Supreme one did not expect this.

(Hmm, usually you would have simply given in and accepted your fate. Yet this time you are telling this almighty one to wait. Heh, another interesting surprise. Should I look into your mind and see why things are so different?”

The man knew if the Supreme one looked into his mind everything would be ruined so again he was struck by inspiration.

(If you look into my mind, you will ruin what could have been the greatest entertainment you’ve ever witnessed!)

The Supreme one stopped and pulled its powers back as it became curious. This time truly was different and it was incredibly entertaining as is. If there really was a way to reach an entirely higher level of entertainment then looking into the man’s mind would surely destroy every bit of it.

The Supreme one resisted the urge to look into the future or read this man’s mind.

“Your words are quite big for someone so insignificantly small. Well, it makes sense you are a part of me after all. If I look into your mind it could truly ruin a fresh experience but I’ll warn you now if you are lying, I will show you such sights that will burn at you for an eternity. This means every life you live, I will be sure to make it so you suffer from now on and forever. So…with that, tell me little one, how will you give me the greatest show?)

The man trembled in fear. He had just seen countless lifetimes of his past. The tortures within those were astronomical. If he were to experience all of that bad, all of that evil for an eternity…The man could not even begin to imagine the depths of despair he would reach.

Still, the man’s idea ate away at him. He did not know if a moment had passed or an infinite number of moments but it was clear to him that the idea was already completely planted within him and was now an obsession.

(All of my past lives, the highest power I could ever reach was that of a king. You said it yourself, kings are boring.)

The shapeless Supreme one nodded in an outline of white light.

(True. Kings are indeed a boring bunch. Even if they do start a war, they don’t even participate themselves. They sit back in their palace, eat, drink, and fuck while counting their gold. No entertainment must go beyond that. A king that wins or a king that losses both offer very little in the ways of piquing my curiosity. The men on the field of battle now that’s different. Cutting down a foe while having a blade chasing after one’s neck. The edge between life and death. The knowledge of knowing if you don’t win, everything you hold dear will slip from your fingers. Now that is fun.”

The man realized that this being’s boredom was more than just boredom. It was a sickness. It enjoyed the extreme highs and lows of life itself. The man began to understand why this Supreme being mainly chose to reincarnate him into human forms. A human had the capacity for many great things. They could start at the bottom in all regards but with time they could grow into something incredible.

Other creatures tend to either start with a good deal of power already, therefore capping their potential and growth. That, or they start at a place where even if they rise, it will be a hollow shadow of everything else displayed before it.

A king was something like this. Starting at the top of most worlds and landed, usually on one extreme end. Their potential for growth was limited in the eyes of this being, which was a bore to watch.

The man was not ordinary. He had learned that he was a part of this being at some point. Because of this, he was used like a plaything, a toy. At the same time, the man had lived countless lives due to this misfortune and had knowledge of all of those creatures. This knowledge and all the previous lives and experiences were already changing him.

Out of all the cycles before him, he had never been in this mysterious place for so long. The longer he was there, the more he was changing due to his previous versions. His ideas were becoming clearer and his plan ever more cunning.

The man knew what he needed to do.

(Exactly, kings are boring. That’s not what I want. Instead how abou

Kazuki’s eyes snapped open as the connection between him and Arc was jolted.

Looking around, he was laying on a familiar purplish black ground.

“This is…”

(The black pyramid.)

A voice entered Kauzki’s mind, it was familiar. No more than that, Kazuki fully recognized it as it came from the hollowed Artifact.

“That voice…Your

Before Kazuki could finish his sentence, another voice rang out. This one though was filled with a cold murderous rage.

“What new demonic sorcery is this!?”

A mere 6 feet away, to Kazuki’s shock was Gardius. The man just like him had been lying down and had just awoke. Kazuki immediately became defensive and tried to distance himself but found that he could not move a muscle.

Not just him but Gardius was exactly the same. He could not move at all.

On the ground nearby were the other Supreme Gods. Each of them only now waking up to this unexpected and strange situation.
