Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 150
As the two continued to clash it became obvious for all to see. Gardius was being pushed back. At first, it was gradual, barely noticeable but as the two exchanged billions upon billion of strikes, it became ever more apparent.
Gardius had not been touched for practically the whole battle but now he was collecting small wounds here and there. In this environment, with his energy running dry, he could not afford to heal his body.
This allowed Belux’s dark energy to seep into him and act like poison.
Kazuki could see where this led. There was a path set but it could still be altered to some degree. Kazuki knew for a fact that he and everyone else on his side had no actual way of defeating Belux. That is where Gardius came in. Kazuki did not wish to help Gardius in any way shape or form but if there was one person who had an actual shot of ending things…Destroying Belux. That power lay within Gardius’s hands.
Kazuki with some reluctance asked.
(Gardius…Do you wish to win?)
Gardius was quiet and continued to fight with a belly full of rage. Kazuki had little time to play these games. He sent a wave of Chaotic energy as he roared at Gardius.
(GARDIUS! ANSWER ME! ARE YOU GOING TO LET THIS BASTARD WIN AND DESTROY US ALL!? THERE IS BUT ONE OPPORTUNITY! WORK WITH ME AND VICTORY WILL BE UPON US!)
Gardius’s words were full of vitriol as he responded coldly.
(You little weakling dare grow loud with me! Have you already forgotten that we are enemies? Have you forgotten how we tried to kill one another mere moments ago? In fact, if not for this bastard here, you would have already died by my hands. Work with you, a thief who stole my Artifact. Such impudence. To think I would ever cooperate with a worthless bug. I’d rather die than live knowing I needed help from anyone. Simply put…GO FUCK OFF! LATER ON, I’LL COME FIND YOU PERSONALLY AND FINISH WHAT I STARTED!)
Kazuki felt a brute force attack of Gardius’s aura on his soul. It wasn’t much because Gardius was being driven to exhaustion. If not for that, this could have caused serious damage.
Kazuki took the hint loud and clear. He felt no pity nor guilt for what he was about to do. With that, he signaled the others.
Belux clashed with Gardius once again. The two were locked in close combat.
“You seem distracted. For a man who’s fought pointlessly up until now, it seems your determination is faltering. Have you finally realized your own insignificance or is it something else I wonder?”
Gardius’s eyes widened and he changed his flow of power. The energy beams he had been firing constantly suddenly disappeared as he regathered his energy. These energy beams acted as both offense and defense as they collided with Belux’s many energy blades. Because of this, the moment his energy beams vanished, his body was suddenly bombarded by all of Belux’s energy blades.
Belux did not understand why Gardius would do this but it seemed he finally went insane in this moment.
Gardius’s dark blade moved quicker sliced and slashed swifter as he deflected much of these energy blades but he could not knock them all away. Some slipped past his guard and he was struck and slashed many times. Belux’s powers seeped further into all of the wounds left behind but maybe due to sheer will, Gardius did not slow. Instead with a roar he actually seemed to get quicker.
*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
“I WILL NOT FALLLLLLL!”
Gardius became even faster even as he took more and more damage. He had no time to focus on recovery and pushed through the pain as he rushed forward like a madman.
With a spin, he moved like a tornado. His body blurred as he knocked Belux’s blade away several times. His spin increased in rotation and speed and soon even his blade could no longer clearly be seen. Only Kazuki, Stasha, and Fleck with their superior vision could make out what he was doing but this did not mean that they understood why he was doing it.
Kazuki though had some idea but he had no time to care as he set his plan in motion.
Kazuki’s gauntlet began to glow as the wings took on a bright silver color and flapped at high speed.
(Everyone, it’s time.)
As soon as Kazuki said this, he moved forward with Brella and Cainen at a blinding speed.
At the same time, Gardius spun forward at a dizzying speed. Belux cut and slashed and found something odd. The way his blade hit suddenly felt different and with it, a large amount of blood gushed out in every direction. Suddenly Belux’s blade became stuck as it collided with Gardius and Gardius as well stopped spinning, leaving a shocking scene.
Belux’s blade was halfway through Gardius’s torso. Gardius was covered from head to toe in deep nasty gashes and other horrendous injuries with blood spilling out of him at an alarming rate. Through this though, Gardius wore an insane smile as he gripped Belux’s blade with both of his hands.
“You took my blade directly all so you could catch it. What foolishness.”
Gardius continued to smile and with blood spilling down his face his words were filled with assurance.
“It worked did it not? I have your weapon and soon you shall have mine.”
As soon as he said this Belux felt something was off and only now did he notice that Gardius’s sword was missing. He was so caught off guard with Gardius using his own flesh and blood to get a hold of his weapon that he only now realized the danger.
Belux knew Gardius’s strength and to try and pry his blade from Gardius’s grip was a fool’s errand. Belux did not hesitate to release his blade and try and retreat and raise his barrier back up as fast as possible but it was already too late.
Gardius’s sword came racing in from behind and before Belux could defend against it, Gardius’s blade penetrated completely through Belux’s back and out through his chest. Belux wore a shocked expression.
Gardius laughed.
“It’s my win.”
As soon as he said this, this time it was Belux who laughed.
*Hehehe Hahahahaha*
“This was your plan.”
Belux transformed and returned to his hollowed jewel state. He was back in his Artifact form and with it, the sword fell away from him like a dead leaf.
“Have you forgotten, I don’t actually have a body made of flesh, bone, and blood? This is my true form. I am an Artifact and a human no more. I haven’t been human for eons. I cannot be killed in the traditional way. You did all of that, sacrificed your body to take my weapon and attack me from behind, all for this, this nothingness. You have achieved nothing more than wasting my time. There is no victory for you here. No win and now no way to escape any longer. You have used everything you possibly could and are weak now with my power invading you.”
Gardius coughed up a mouth full of blood as he grit his teeth.
“I…I haven’t lost yet.”
He could barely speak at this point and his face was pale beyond compare. Cold sweat poured down his face and then froze into tiny ice crystals and floated away into the depths of space.
“But you have lost. Funny, there was a moment when I did have doubts about coming out on top. The moment Brella and Kazuki attacked me, had you not gone after them and instead focused your all on me, you might have just taken me down. Your desire to win and your boundless pride and obsession caused your downfall. I could have reincarnated you with a brand new life and purpose but this, no, you, you are disappointing and are the exact thing I shall erase along with this Universe.”
Belux said nothing else and with a thought, his blade began to twist inside of Gardius’s torso as he prepared to split him in half. The pain of having this foul dark energy along with the blade invading and twisting in both body and soul was excruciating. Through all of it though Gardius continued to smile.
“I said it already but maybe you did not hear me clearly. I haven’t lost yet.”
As soon as these words fell, Gardius’s sword that was floating silently nearby suddenly used all of Gardius’s remaining energy, and with a large portion of his soul, his Divine soul weapon exploded right next to Belux.
The explosion was contained perfectly right next to Belux as Gardius willed it so. The concentrated forces of his fused elements, all of his remaining Divine energy, and half of his soul could wipe away countless Lower Realms. Even though most of it was concentrated directly onto Belux, a few slivers of energy broke away and killed any God it touched.
At the same time, Belux was completely rattled and was launched into the distance and actually out of his own collapsing net. Belux disappeared from the battlefield and Gardius was left smiling.
“Like I said…It’s my win.”
