Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 49

Lana’s expression changed and warped as if she were disgusted by Kazuki’s question.

“Of course we took them. You ask why Borus? I ask why not? They were there, they were alive and they were real flesh and blood. After being trapped inside that damn sacred wall for countless eons, we finally managed to escape and there were living bodies right in front of us. Well, all I can say is it’s only natural for the strong to take whatever they wish from the weak. You understand right? With your strength, there is nothing you can’t do. If the roles were reversed, wouldn’t you do the exact same?”

Kazuki wondered that himself. He knew what it was to be trapped. To have no hope, no freedom. To be on the brink of starvation, with a never-ending thirst. Even now, the thought of returning to the Abyssal trench brought terrible notions and made his stomach tighten.

After all of that though, he did not act so cruelly to an innocent person.

“Just like you said Lana, the strong can take whatever they wish from the weak but just because you can, does not mean you should. I don’t believe in destiny but somehow the one who can end you has arrived. What you and your…friends have done, you took far more than one ever should. That alone has told me exactly who you are and what you will do in the future. You are a scourge upon these Realms and your existence maybe not now but eventually will become a threat to all. Today you shall die by my hands.”

Lana’s expression changed and twisted in rage.

“Who are you to judge us? What gives you the right to say what we can or cannot do? None of this is your business. So turn around and leave while we still allow it. You think you know how deep our powers run but you have no clue. Even if you may have some ability, do not test us.”

In her hands along with Selda and Verian, they each held a Mind stone. Their eyes began to glow with brilliant light and the Mind stones began to emit copious amounts of mind-soul energy.

Just yesterday this would be a real concern for Kazuki. The power within the dull stones could easily overwhelm not just him but even Arc or Codex if they came into contact with it. Under its effects, Lana or the others could make them kill themselves or control them like a puppet indefinitely. The limits were very little and the outcomes were deadly.

That though was yesterday and now it was a new day. Within a short fall of the sun followed by its rise hours later, Kauzki had come to comprehend mind-soul energy to a terrifying degree. A million years within his soul world had afforded him manipulation over mind-soul energy to a disturbing degree. He held no fear in the face of this energy. Nor did Arc, Codex, or sword after he passed the knowledge on to them.

There were countless Gods under the control of the hidden figure. Each one had surrounded Kazuki, Lana, and the others and simply observed. It did not predict this outcome and had no reason to make a move just yet.

Lana and her allies could see this was taking a turn and they knew they were at a clear disadvantage so they made the foolish mistake of threatening Kazuki as well as misunderstanding his true nature. They believed him to be an expert, a powerful one at that and because of that, they made the incorrect assumption that he was similar to other powerful figures.

Those that would look down on the weak and look forward to crushing those without enough strength into the damn dirt.

Kazuki was the wrong person they should have expressed their despise for the weak too. All this time he has been weaker than his enemy Spehra and before when he was weaker than his adoptive sister Fera he was forced into one impossible situation after another. He was treated as less than and he could just barely survive and struggle with his all to try and make it out of that let alone seek revenge.

He was the weak at one point and he was absolutely disgusted at those who through their power around like this.

Power gathered around Kazuki’s Gauntlet and he cracked a false smile.

“You know, I was a fool before. When I initially looked into your memories, I saw a normal happy family. You reminded me of my little sister. That was why I revived you but all of that wasn’t really you. The happy time, the laughing the good memories, all of it was the real Lana’s memories but you aren’t the real Lana. You know how to manipulate mind-soul energy. That’s how you kept your real memories from me. That’s how I was tricked into helping you. So what happened that day? You managed to somehow escape this city but on the way, you just so happen to run into a large beast but because you are trapped in the body of a child that has a much weaker mage core, you are unable to bring out your full, real power. Because of that, you could only die. Then I come along and bring you back to life like a true dumbass.”

Lana and the others could feel Kauzki’s power rising and they were prepared to fight. The dull stone in their hands glowed ever brighter.

“So what. Stop spouting bullshit. If you won’t help us, then you are against us. You want to kill us but will you get the chance? That body of yours contains incredible power. If you won’t help us on your own accord then fuck it! WE’LL JUST TAKE IT ALL!”

The moment she said this, Lana, Selda, and Verian all aimed their mind stones at Kazuki. The same mind-soul energy that baffled him just a half day ago shot forward with unbridled speed. An attack this fast would be difficult even for a God to dodge but this did not concern Kazuki.

The silver wings atop his gauntlet fluttered and vibrated at a high frequency.

With a single thought, Kazuki commanded the Gauntlet.

(Fly.)

Just as three beams of mind-soul energy came upon him, the silver wings flapped and Kazuki vanished before their eyes. The only thing Selda and Verian could see was a trail of silver light but this was only for a split second before Kauzki reappeared before Verian.

Chaotic energy surrounded Kauzki’s Gauntlet as he punched forward with a force of power that should not be possible from a Demigod.

Verian had no time to move his body of flesh and could see his incoming death approach. He instantly gave up on his flesh and blood and sent all of his will into his Divine Soul weapon. Using his sword, he tried to flee at his fastest speed but Kazuki’s fist was even quicker.

With Chaotic energy around his gauntlet, Kazuki struck Verian’s divine weapon and shattered it instantly. His fist however did not stop there. it cut cleanly through the air and landed upon Varian’s chest. Just as his weapon exploded, a fraction of a second later so too did his body. Arc as well drilled destroyed the Mind stone resting in the man’s grip.

Bones were reduced to tiny particles and splattered and sprayed outward with his blood and now macerated organs and sinew. Before this crimson flow could touch the ground, the remaining Chaotic energy destroyed every single bit that was left and reduced this liquid body into nothingness.

Lana’s powers were weakened in her childish frame so she did not bear witness to this because it was simply far too fast. Nearly all of the Gods as well had missed it except a few powerful ones. Those that missed it could only catch the finale. All they saw was Verian was there one moment and the very next, he was nothing more than a spray of blood but even that only lasted a fraction of a second as even the blood was obliterated and vanished.

The very next moment, Kazuki appeared where Verian had just been standing in the air. He slowly turned and looked Selda in the eye before calling out in a cold tone.

“Your next.”

Selda’s reaction was even slower than Verian’s. Her eyes could merely go wide in shock before her entire body was destroyed just as her fake husband was.

Lana had missed this as well. her eyes just could not keep up. All she saw was Verian and Selda suddenly disappear followed by a fine red mist that disappeared just as quickly as they did.

Lana looked confused as Kazuki appeared directly in front of her. He was a few feet taller than her and completely towered over her. Only now did she realize that Verian and Selda were no more as their Mind stones hit the ground with a small thud. Kazuki’s cold voice sent shivers racing down her spine.

“The strong crush the weak right?”
