Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 77
(The point you’re making Kazuki follows logic a bit too closely. Are you forgetting what an Artifact is or rather how we tend to operate? My missing piece can potentially warp Realms but does that mean it would? Just because it can move through space unhindered, it does not necessarily mean it will come looking for me. The number one reason this may be so is the memories. What does my missing piece remember? Is it even aware of its own origins? The very reason it moves through space could be my missing piece is looking for answers.)
Kazuki had overlooked this. He just assumed the missing piece would be similar to Arc in every way shape and form but in truth that was all speculation on his part.
(These memories…if your missing piece does not have them as you say, this could still go south very quickly. Is your approach to just forcefully interact with it and show it your own memories? Would that even work?)
(I’m not sure. No, most likely showing it my own memories would accomplish nothing if it does not even have a basis to work from. I would just be a stranger in that case.)
Kazuki sat down and stared at Arc as if it was stupid.
(Does that not bring us back to the major problem at hand? If this Artifact does not recognize you what can you actually accomplish? How can you be so confident that this is really the missing piece you seek? I may not know of any other Artifacts with such capability but that does not mean there isn’t another that can move space if not multiple. I need more than just your words to go off of Arc.)
Codex laughed hearing this and Kazuki realized how much of a hypocrite he sounded like. He had asked them for trust and to believe in him in regard to the shadow but here he was asking for proof from Arc for basically the same thing. He felt foolish but at the same time, he still needed some sort of evidence. Going to the Black gate was already the plan. In order to stop the shadow from claiming the Artifact within that was said to hold the power to change the Higher Realms.
At first one would not worry about an individual trying to control an Artifact, after all, Artifacts could choose who they served if they wished to serve someone in the first place. Kazuki though had changed the game so to speak when he managed to take control of the Gauntlet. It showed that even without permission one could use an Artifact as if it were their own.
Not only that but no one knew just how deep the shadow’s powers were. He was a being that could easily manipulate and take over a God, this made the chance he could take over an Artifact not zero.
Kazuki did not want to take control of this Artifact but rather destroy it.
(If we’re stumbling around trying to get it to recognize you when it’s not even your missing piece, it could give the shadow his opportunity to snatch it away and gain a power none of us can deal with. In one fell swoop he could become a Supreme God and hold the entire Realm in the palm of his hand. This is a huge gamble and I want to know for sure before we risk not only our lives but the future of the Higher Realms and everything below them.)
Codex began flipping through its own pages before landing on a certain one. It glowed with a bright light before displaying its contents with a flash of images. The images showed many Artifacts, and the knowledge it was currently aware of regarding these Artifacts. All information it had gathered through the years or what it had gotten at the information guild with Kazuki.
(These Artifacts all have abilities, special abilities that seem to go beyond the natural law of the universe. In actuality, though we are merely tapping into the natural Laws, it’s just that the understanding of lower beings is still unaware of most of these things. Arc can distort space and manipulate it at a profound level that none of us can touch. Sword can cut through most known materials in these Realms and I can degrade one’s soul.)
(Book what is the point of stating the obvious and showing us things we are already aware of?)
(Arc I am simply reminding you that we Artifacts are incredible. Are abilities are above those of Gods in certain aspects because we understand one or two Laws of the Universe. This only scratches the surface. Even though all three of us have our own Special abilities, because of Kauzki we have tapped into Chaotic energy and can also use Sword forms. Some things are simpler and some things in order to master you need true enlightenment and a depth of comprehension with equal weight. Because of this, we Artifacts can use more than what we were designed or rather made for. But are we three truly the special ones…The answer of course is no. We are just Artifacts like other Artifacts. We simply hold more knowledge than most other Artifacts due to the amount of Oriing energy we’ve obtained through the years as well as our interactions with Kazuki. This means due to the environment we were in, we have grown much more than other Artifacts.)
(What long-winded point are you trying to deliver book? Just shut up and get to the point already!)
Arc was clearly annoyed. Codex was clearly not taking its side and that pissed Arc off. Arc was not usually one to misspeak but Codex’s insistently long explanation or lack thereof pushed it to the limit.
(Heh, no need to be flustered. I was arriving at my point just now. The point is, we aren’t special and yet we can do more than what we have been made for. All this in part due to our environment. This means that the Artifact inside the Black gate could be similar to us in that its environment has changed. After all, a regular Artifact can not move far without a being operating it. This thing though has apparently been moving across the Starpaths for eons. Its environment has only been changing. The chances this Artifact is your missing piece are slim at best.)
Arc was wondering where this was going but this direction was not one of them.
(Book, thank you for that…irritating explanation. Yes, it’s true, the Artifact could in fact be a random one and not my missing piece. As you explained, the environment can change an Artifact’s abilities if it has many qualities we have. The chances for it to be my missing piece would then in fact be slim at best as you put it but…This is not the case. There are no other Artifact’s like me. Even my missing piece is only similar and not equal. It is a part of me, not the other way around. Everything else is below me. That’s the first part. Secondly, the Artifact would undergo no chances because of the fact that its environment has not changed. The outside of the Black gate is surrounded by constant tears of Chaotic space. No one can get close enough without risking their life. That is why none have entered the Black gate and returned successfully and are waiting for the path to open. Third the evidence you wish for, I already have.)
Codex and Kazuki were both stunned.
(Arc, you have the evidence. Why didn’t you say anything then when Codex was going in on you?)
(Yes Arc I just said all of that and gave a perfect explanation. If you really had evidence you would have mentioned it. Otherwise…wait, don’t tell me. Were you holding it back just so I could look stupid after giving that long explanation?)
Arc buzzed with purple lightning as if it were holding in laughter.
(Now why would I ever do a thing like that? Those that speak bullshit can never seem to recognize it in the moment. Sometimes its best to just let them chatter away like a dumb monkey and reveal things afterward.)
Codex grew angry.
(SHOW ME THE EVIDENCE!)
(If you insist.)
Arc glowed before a flash of light shot into both Codex and Kazuki. It was a memory. Once again, it was a blurred image of two females. It was the same image they had witnessed back at the lake where they recovered the Mind-stones. It was more blurred at that time but after the second time when they were facing off against the shadow, it became slightly clearer. This image as well was slightly less blurred but still, no details could be uncovered beside the fact that there were two females within it.
Codex scoffed.
(This same shit…Really. How in the 7 Realsm of hell is this evidence? We’ve already seen this memory back in Satruss city.)
If Arc had a head, right now it would be shaking it as it said.
(No, this memory is not from Satruss city.)
A bolt of purple lightning pointed at Fleck as Arc continued.
(This memory is from Fleck’s mind and soul. He received it from the Black gate.)
