Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 79
Leading up to the date of opening, the city was bustling with constant movement and chatter. Everyone had places to be and things to do. Factions gathered their forces and prepared all that was necessary before the Star gate lit up and pulsed with energy.
The entire tower was filled to the brim with people and other creatures. Demigods and Gods galore. As quickly as the city abounded with scurrying here and there. Just as quickly the city became a ghost town. It was so empty one could shout and hear it echo throughout the entire city.
Out of all the forces that went ahead to the Black gate, one group remained behind.
Kazuki, along with Fleck the archer and Nala the large beast woman headed into the tower.
The person operating this Stargate was surprised to see Kazuki and the others. They had arrived fairly late compared to the other factions. Seeing that their group was made up of only three, the clerk assumed they weren’t actually traveling to the Black gate and had arrived at this time to stay out of the way of others.
“Welcome to Talicus’s Stargate customers. What is your destination?”
Fleck stepped forward and touched a crystal display floating just above the counter. His eyes lit up with light and a specific coordinate from his mind was transferred to the display.
“We’ll be going to this location. Set the stargate to these specific coordinates exactly. Do you understand?”
The clerk was confused by Fleck’s request.
“Um…but sir, this location you put in…there’s nothing there.”
This time it was Nala who stepped forward. A large war hammer as big as she appeared in her hands. The heavy head slammed into the floor with an audible and spine-chilling thud.
“Is it your job to add on and wag your tongue unnecessarily? If this is where we wish to go, then this is where we are going. Got it!?”
The clerk swallowed hard but kept a professional attitude.
“Right away customers, please forgive my slip-up.”
The man then ran to a room in the back to prepare the Stargate.
Kazuki looked at his two subordinates.
“What was that?”
Fleck and Nala looked at Kazuki with expressions that read did we do a good job?
“Master, we are just doing what we must to be your loyal servants. This man need not add on and should just do his job.”
Right after Fleck was Nala.
“Exactly, we are your hands and feet. Whatever you wish, we shall move the skies above to see it done.”
Even though it seemed like the two were doing too much, the two actually meant it. It wasn’t just because they were his slaves but rather what he had already done for them that set their allegiance and subservience in stone for him. Fleck had already pledged his loyalty before even becoming a slave. All he had wished for, was that the excruciating pain and agony he experienced due to the dark soul-crushing energy invading him be gone. He hadn’t even cared about his soul recovering anymore and just wanted the pain gone forever.
Kazuki had done this, causing this man to no longer feel the constant torture.
As for Nala, she was a God that craved strength and had come to a limit long ago. This limit though was seemingly cracked open the day she became Kazuki’s slave. He improved her magical power and made her body a bit stronger. She knew Kazuki was the key to her growth.
Kazuki could tell they were genuine but still, the two were a bit much.
“Fine I get it, just don’t go overboard or you’ll no longer be helpful but an annoyance instead. Understand?”
The two saluted him.
“Yes, Master.”
Kazuki gave the two a look and they both put their hands down.
“Master…was that…was that the too much you were talking about?”
“Yes.”
The two tried to bow and apologize but Kauzki wasn’t having that shit.
“Forget it it’s time to go.”
As soon as he said that, the clerk from a moment ago came back and escorted them to a portal room inside the depths of this tower.
Kazuki paid the monstrous fee of Divine crystals and the portal was activated. Once more the tower pulsed with power before the three were shot through space.
A distance away from the city of Talicus, a journey so long it would take a God several trillion years to cross on their own power. In an instant, three figures appeared in the furthest reaches of space.
As soon as they appeared, there was deadly energy flowing around them. Chaotic space was constantly opening and closing seemingly at random in their surroundings. From these random tears, Chaotic energy shot out in every direction. Nala and Fleck could deal with this much Chaotic energy with their own defenses. If it was just this much they would be fine. Were they to enter Chaotic space itself, maybe they could last a few minutes or longer.
Nala swung her war hammer and a powerful shockwave was sent flying, knocking this Chaotic energy back and away.
So long as she used her physical strength and not magic, the Chaotic tears would not eat away at her power and remain in her vicinity. Fleck as well drew his longbow. He materialized arrows made of a special hardened metal before just like Nala he fired these bolts outward and knocked Chaotic energy away.
While they did this, they felt proud that they were dealing with this threat with ease. That is until they noticed their Master’s unique way of dealing with it. As Chaotic energy got too close to Kazuki, he would simply activate the devouring void in his soul world and in this way he would pull all of this dangerous energy inside before he would absorb it directly inside his core.
What he absorbed could kill any Demigod. As for a God, even if this amount didn’t kill them right away it would leave them badly wounded and if left alone for too long, they would succumb to such wounds.
Seeing their master absorb Chaotic energy, their jaws dropped to the floor, or rather they would have if there was such a thing as a floor in space.
Nala asked in concern.
(Master, are you fine taking in that energy like that?)
Kazuki gave a smirk.
(This much is nothing. Forget that, instead, Fleck, your little clue, it’s around here is it not?)
Even though Kazuki already knew all the information from Fleck’s memories, he let Fleck speak his own mind. Otherwise, it would feel weird to Kazuki. If he walked around knowing everything and left nothing for his servants to do, it would basically be as if they were all robots.
Fleck gratefully appreciated this and went on to explain.
(Master, the clue you are referring to is indeed in this area. If you look in that direction you should be able to see the tip of the Black gate in the distance.)
Fleck pointed in a certain direction and Kazuki saw something resembling a cloud of black and purple energy moving in their direction. It appeared to be a dot from this range but in actuality, the Black gate was the size of a Starpath. As seconds passed, it was clear the so-called dot was growing rapidly as the Black gate moved in their direction.
(Master, as you know, when that foul energy infected me, it left something behind inside of me. That something is like a map and from it, this location kept appearing in my mind.)
(Kazuki, the map he’s referring to, is that also a part of the marker left with the message inside of him.)
Codex spoke but only Kauzki and the other Artifacts could hear him. Kazuki responded back.
(Yes, the marker is more than just one piece. It contains the blurred image I and Arc keep seeing, the nasty dark energy that pollutes you, and also specific coordinates to this location. The clue Fleck is referring to isn’t a real clue the Black gate came up with but rather something Fleck came up with to attract more drinks back at the bar. He was already aware of this location the moment he got infected.)
The clue Fleck spoke of to make his story more attractive and get free drinks was heard by the entire bar. So it only made sense that moment’s later a few more people began to appear in their surroundings.
Very soon there were four groups of people including Kazuki’s. These people ranged from all sorts of life. Some were beast-type creatures, some humanoid, and one group was made up of insect-like beings. These small groups stared hatefully at one another and even glared at Kazuki. Some began to communicate with their own groups but because they communicated through the mind, Kauzki could not hear what they were saying.
That though only lasted for half a moment when he spotted two Demigods in two of the groups.
