Return of the Fallen Volume 12 Chapter 95

“RETURN TO THE VOID HUMAN!”

The snake monster had gathered all of his power into this beam of light and was on the edge of releasing it directly upon Kazuki when Kazuki formed a peerless mirror out of ice.

This mirror formed in front of the snake instantly. Combined with the angled light, it shined directly into the snake’s eyes for a split second. The power gathered in the snake’s mouth seemed to freeze as did the snake itself when it saw its appearance.

In front of its very eyes, it caught its reflection in the mirror. The moment it caught its own image it was stunned and then horrified.

*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*

A desperate scream of disgust erupted from within the snake. As it cried out in horror, Nala grabbed its lower body and held it in place. At the same time, Kazuki circulated ki throughout his upper arms and increased his strength severalfold before straightening his hands as if they were spears.

With a thrust forward, his knife-like hands stabbed at the creature’s eyes. The snake monster was late to act and could not dodge both of them. Still, with a twist of its neck, its head moved just enough.

*Cschig*

The sound of something bursting echoed out as Kazuki managed to pierce the snake’s left eye.

“FLECKKKK!”

Kazuki roared at the top of his lungs when he failed to hit the other but Fleck was already informed of what was to be done.

The bow flexed and the string recoiled. Several arrows made of a strange substance flew forward faster than lightning. Fleck took no chances and fired multiple arrows in a group. The snake tried to twist out of the way but Kazuki’s hand which was still within the snake’s skull, hooked on to the fleshy bits like a vice grip, keeping the snake’s head from moving too far.

With Nala holding onto the snake creature’s legs, he could not react quickly enough, and once more the sound of eyes bursting echoed out as Fleck’s arrows flew true and hit their target.

*AHHHHHHH!*

The snake roared in pain and tried to fire the white beam once again when Kazuki’s knee rose up with a strength, unlike anything this creature had ever felt before.

*BOOOOOM!*

A solid crack rang out as Kazuki’s knee delivered a blow to the snake’s lower jaw. The snake’s mouth hung at a weird angle as its lower jaw had been broken in several places.

Its concentration was completely ruined and it failed to kill Kazuki with its blast.

Kazuki tried to deliver another blow but all of its spider arms shot forward and knocked him back. At the same time, more arrows came ripping through the air. Dredinkar and Specxzu were stunned at this sight but they too rushed forward. This was the perfect opportunity to take the monster out.

Kazuki as well flipped backward in the air and regained his balance. The moment his feet touched the ground he kicked off the surface with tremendous force, leaving the ground splintered as he rushed back in.

Again the snake tried to move but Nala’s grip was indeed unbelievable. The snake knew how dangerous this situation was and finally used its wings. The bat-like leathery wings unfolded from between his spider arms and flapped with a rusty motion.

This flap though was enough to take it high into the sky in a single move.

Nala wore a shocked expression as she was suddenly several thousand feet up. She wasn’t afraid of falling from this height, but rather being alone in the sky with his crazed monster.

Kazuki wondered if he should just say fuck it and fly after the creature when Dredinkar made the suggestion himself.

“This may be the only chance we get to kill this thing. AFTER IT!”

Dredinkar laid the unconscious Carta on the ground and didn’t hesitate to burn his Divine energy and give chase.

Flekc gave Kazuki a look and Kazuki nodded before the two took off into the sky.

(NALA! LET GO!)

Kazuki called out directly into Nala’s mind and she felt a wave of relief that her master did not order her to hang on and die.

The snake as well was relieved. The gravity of this place was something difficult even for God’s to deal with. With an extra person’s weight and him having to use his small wings, his speed was reduced greatly. With Nala leaving him, his speed increased by a few times.

Dredinkar saw this and was enraged.

“DAMN YOU WOMAN! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!”

Drediunkar burned away more energy and increased his speed. He slashed at the snake monster with a sword and several blades of wind cut forward. The snake could hear the wind slicing behind him and painfully opened his mouth and ate the magical energy inside this attack while allowing the wind blades themselves to bounce off of his body.

Dredinkar knew his wind blades would not pierce the snake’s tough scales but still, he hoped it would slow the monster down. He was even angrier that the snake gained even more precious energy from his own foolish act.

At the speed he was going, there was no way he would catch the creature at this rate.

“MOVE!”

A shout from behind gave everyone only a fraction of a second as a warning as a thin rapier flew past them like a bolt of lightning. The sword moved so fast and combined with its thin shape, it was like trying to spot a needle in the sky.

Again the snake could hear the wind being torn apart from behind him. Once again he painfully opened his mouth to try and eat whatever energy followed this attack but unfortunately for him, this attack contained no magic and was only physical.

The blade was thrown with Specxzu’s strength. With the snake unwise of what was to come, the thin blade stabbed deeply into the snake’s own open mouth and pierced out of the back of its head.

If it still had eyes, they would be wide in shock.

The snake was still feeling woozy from Kazuki’s strange concoction and now there was a Divine soul weapon stabbed into its head. The snake felt Specxzu’s soul trying to attack his soul world. The snake did not panic though. Instead, it laughed while coughing and choking on its own blood. Once again it began to eat energy. This time the source was Specxzu’s soul weapon.

Specxzu had joined them in the air and a set of wings no one had seen before sprouted like a plant from his back and opened. They were thin and see-through. They began to vibrate and flap at a high frequency before Specxzu suddenly shot forward just as quickly as he had thrown his blade.

“YOU THINK I’LL LET YOU!”

Specxzu shouted at the snake monster while trying to recall his weapon with his mind. The sword tried to dislodge itself and rush back to Specxzu’s side but the snake used all of its snake arms to hold the blade in place. It actually kept the sword lodged in its skull while it laughed.

It continued to fly away while eating bits of power from Specxzu’s sword. Specxzu felt pain in his soul but he did not waver. He flew faster and faster and caught up with the snake. The snake was not defenseless though. Its arms began to flip and flick once again and it shot hundreds and then thousands of sticky webs at Specxzu.

With the blade stuck in it’s head, it talked as if it was unstoppable.

“Without that human, you cannot defeat my webs. The moment you get caught I’ll turn on you and eat you just like your power and soul.”

The snake knew it’s situation. If it really turned to attack Specxzu, it would be surrounded once more and it could not have that. It needed time to regenerate and fix its jaw. Otherwise, it would be far too difficult to unleash its full power. Everything it said it said to try and scare Specxzu away but at this point, there was no way Specxzu could just stop.

His Divine Soul weapon was seized. If that was truly lost to this snake, his death was all but guaranteed. No, the moment the snake got away, Specxzu had no doubt in his mind that he would die.

He had been using his wings alone at this point to catch up but now with these webs coming at him, he needed more speed…more agility. His eyes and wings began to glow with silver light as his speed and agility increased more and more.

He dodged every single web that flew in his direction but he still could not catch up. He felt more anguish in his soul as the snake was damaging it little by little. If Specxzu was not a master when it came to the soul, he knew his soul would have been devoured long ago.

His power was starting to run low and for the first time, he felt a sense of fear.

“Need a hand?”

Kazuki appeared by his side right when he was slipping into despair.

Specxzu’s mandibles clicked in frustration before he said a single word.

“Please.”
