Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 51
There was zero light in the depths beneath the city. Kazuki was used to such darkness and was reminded of the Abyssal trench. With his senses, it was easy for his eyes to adjust. Even if he had no eyes he could visualize his entire surroundings with his aura alone.
The same could not be said for most of the creatures that had been swallowed into the ground along with him.
The panicked cries of many creatures filled one’s ear. If it was just this alone, it would not be so bad but with their cries of fear came the stampeding of the blind.
Monsuta was in bad shape once more. Verick had sent some type of power into the slave collar causing Monsuta’s wounds to close and heal faster but he was still feeble.
Kazuki wrapped his aura around Monsuta and sensing his surroundings he leapt upward. He ascended nearly a mile up before he hit the ceiling. Outstretching his hand, his fist pierced the hard surface above his head and he clung to the top without falling.
Meanwhile, beneath him and Monsuta, creatures were thrashing one another in self-defense. Stomping, kicking, whipping, crashing into one another. The fear of the unknown and the constant sounds was maddening for them and because of it, green and yellow blood was spilled.
When this happened, their firey blood would spark up in tiny flashes here and there before vaporizing. Due to this, one could catch glimpses of the dangers all around before the light faded once again and the horrors crept in.
(Why send them down here like this? Does Mefius want them to kill one another? What is the purpose of letting them go crazy down there?)
A large lizard had its tail stepped on and released a poisonous nauseous gas as it roared in anger and pain. at the same time a small creature with spikes all along its back just so happened to be swatted by another. The moment this smaller spiked creature was swatted the spikes on its back clicked together as a self-defense mechanism causing orange sparks to fly. These sparks collided with the poisonous as and lit it on fire causing a chain reaction.
*BOOOOOOOOOM!*
A large explosion filled this underground chamber causing everyone to be blasted backward. Some of the poisonous gas rose up and it began to eat through Kauzki’s aura but with a few folded layers he stopped the gas in its tracks and remained safe. Down below, others were not so lucky. Several creatures had instantly died in this darkness including the poisonous lizard who caused the majority of this destruction.
Somehow the small round spiked creature had miraculously survived as it had curled up into a ball and merely bounced around the underground chamber. Those that survived the initial disaster were left heavily wounded. This brought a momentary silence before cries of pain spread in the darkness.
With this, the panic and stampeding had died out completely as the blinded creatures refused to move and licked their wounds pitifully.
Meanwhile, Kauzki still clung to the ceiling and held Monsuta in the air with his aura. He used some of his aura to write out the ancient hand symbols in the air to help heal Monsuta. He gathered the element of stone and water and tried using the healing properties but as soon as this power gathered and tried to enter Monsuta, the slave collar around his neck lit up with sparks of red lightning and shocked and burned his body, mind, and soul.
*ARHHHHHHHHH!*
Monsuta roared out something terrible as the pain was unbearable. Kazuki quickly seized this operation and called off the ancient power. He was trying to heal Monsuta not harm him, yet his powers had done the exact opposite.
(What the fuck is going on!? I was healing him pretty much the entire time on our way to the city but now his body can’t accept it. It was the collar, it flashed momentarily when I used this power on Monsuta.)
Kazuki had seen Verick use some type of power and activate the collar to heal Monsuta. From this, he understood that the collar was blocking the gathered power from the ancient hand symbols.
(Verick did something to the collar and now The ancient hand symbols can’t interfere.)
Kazuki once again used the ancient hand symbols and tried to send the same power into his own body. The power went in without any problems and he confirmed it first hand.
(Whatever Verick did to Monsuta’s slave collar, it’s definitely interfering with my ancient hand signs.)
Kazuki looked down below and used some healing water on a few creatures down below to be 100% sure and found his power still worked on all of them.
Kazuki had been worreid at first. If he couldn’t help Monsuta heal, it would have been dangerous but he could sense the collar was helping Monsuta recover slowly but surely.
(Kazuki…It hurts.)
Monsuta may be recovering but it was excruciatingly slow. No doubt a way to punish them and let them suffer for a long while with slow healing. Kazuki hated this for Monsuta. Though he could not use magic to take away Monsuta’s pain, this did not mean there were no options.
Kazuki sensed Monsuta’s entire body and pointed at him with his finger. Putting as much strength into said finger, he proceeded to stab deeply into certain points all over Monsuta’s body. In this way, he struck several of his acupoints with perfect accuracy. After blocking several of his points, for a final touch he struck one more thereby knocking Monsuta out. With this, he managed to take away all of the pain Monsuta felt due to his many wounds.
Patting him gently on his large head he whispered.
“Rest easy Monsuta. Everything will be ok.”
Monsuta’s pained expression faded and it was replaced with one of relief. His breathing slowed and he relaxed as he entered a deep slumber.
(To think I would have use for acupuncture. I’ve come so far, yet Granny Master Maya…the skills you taught me are still helping me even today.)
Kazuki could slay a God but here he was using a skill taught to him back when he mastered ki manipulation and martial arts back on Earth.
(After reaching a certain point in terms of power and strength, I never thought I would use nor need such things as acupuncture. The universe is truly humorous.)
Seeing Monsuta sleeping peacefully and thinking about his Granny Master Maya, Kauzki couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his heart.
Creating a small light orb that floated around him. Kazuki let go of the ceiling. He mimicked the wind and slowed his descent to the ground. The orb of light may have been small but it contained enough light to reveal every corner and every nook and cranny of this underground chamber.
As the two floated toward the ground Kazuki saw that the chamber they were in was more than just a hole n the ground. Their entire place had been carved out and was decorated with pristine smooth stone of some type. He was surprised at how good of a condition this underground room was.
(Whoever carved this place out, did so with a meticulous yet delicate hand. It’s almost as if this is a sacred place.)
Kazuki really felt this underground chamber was completely different from the city on the surface. That place lacked any sign of culture. It was plain, beyond plain really. The only thing that stood out was the odd statues that people were lining up to buy.
(How can the city be so dull yet this place where they keep the slaves is carved like fine jade fit for an emperor? Did they really carve this chamber themselves or is it some relic from the past.)
Kazuki didn’t know if he believed that. The place was incredibly well maintained for it to be a relic, but at the same time, this place was so drastically different that he could not see Mefius ordering someone to make this place for him.
(This place is a direct contradiction to the city above.)
Kazuki was lost in thought when he landed softly on the ground. The few creatures that survived numbered around 20. The moment Kazuki landed, all of these creatures came forward and surrounded him, or rather, gathered around him.
Kauzki wondered if they would be hostile. After all, a few of them—Monsuta and Kazuki had dealt with on the surface during their hunts. To his surprise, though, they were all skittish as they slowly came close. Kazuki was the only light source in this large underground chamber. They all had magic, but with their powers being mostly sealed, none could create the fire that was so ingrained in their lives that it was like breath itself.
To go from always having fire, to being tossed into a deep, dark hole, it was as if their life had been snuffed out. Seeing Kazuki and the light floating around him. He was literally a beacon of light in their life of darkness.
These creatures couldn’t help but stick close to him in a submissive manner.
