Return of the Fallen Volume 13 Chapter 6

Kazuki came to learn that the t-rex was called Monsuta. After coming to an agreement, Kazuki learned only the basics. Not because Monsuta was holding back, but instead because this large dinosaur did not know much or rather was simply bad at explaining things.

The two made a deal. Kazuki would make Monsuta whatever statue he wanted, and in exchange, Monsuta would answer whatever question Kazuki had.

One example of Monsuta’s bad explanation was this world. First off, Monsuta did not understand the concept of a world or continent. Instead, it simply called the territory it roamed home and any place outside of it was not home. For this terrible answer, Kazuki made a statue of the pterodactyl that had attacked earlier.

(Monsuta isn’t an idiot but these concepts are just not in his wheelhouse. I’ll need to make the questions more basic in order to get some real information. Since it can’t name locations very well, I’ll avoid topics like that and stick with more common principles.)

Monsuta lifted the pterodactyl statue in the air with his aura and made it fly like a real pterodactyl. After a moment Monsuta purposely crashed it into the ground and watched as the magic stone statue repaired itself.

Kazuki grabbed a different boulder and began to carve it up with his hands.

“Monsuta, I have a new question for you.”

Monsuta spoke through its soul and Kazuki’s soul-reading ability interpreted it.

“Sure, little creature. You can ask me anything as long as you make more of these fun things.”

Kazuki’s hands moved fast. The rock was dense and hard but under Kazuki’s strength, he made little work of it. Also, he noticed that his strength had actually improved slightly.

(The meat I ate has given me not only newfound fire energy similar to Belux’s dark energy but also my strength has improved slightly. If I eat more, will my body continue to improve further?)

Kazuki put that thought off to the side for now and finished carving the statue. After a few seconds, the statue resembled Kazuki and he asked.

“Monsuta, have you seen any other people in this world or rather in or around your home.”

Monsuta had brows, they would be furrowed right now. With a low growl, he answered.

“That looks like this. No, you are the first of your kind I’ve ever seen. Is this statue my next gift, what can it do?”

Kazuki was slightly frustrated and he wondered if his question was a bit off.

(Monsuta answered by comparing the looks with this statue. It may be taking the looks of the statue literally and not differentiating it between me and someone new. It said I’m the first of my kind it’s ever seen but that may just mean human. There are far too many creatures in the universe that have a higher order of intelligence and can communicate. I don’t care if the being I come across is human or something else. So long as I can communicate and find out where I am, that would help get me on track to some answers.)

Kazuki had tried to fly but just like when he first arrived in the black gate, there was a suppressive force all around. Actually, the suppressive force was far stronger in certain regards.

(At least in the black gate I could still fly around. In this world though I can’t even get off the ground. Hell, I’m so heavy in this world that I can’t even jump off the ground. Lifting a single foot from the ashen-covered ground takes almost everything I have. My aura can’t go for more than a few miles and the haze of heat causes my vision to fail after only a few hundred miles.)

Back when Kauzki was atop the cliff ridge, his sight was much greater and he understood why. The heat of this world was mostly contained to the surface of this world. The higher one went, the lower the temperature was compared to the ground.

*Stomp Stomp Stomp*

“Little creature, why aren’t you answering me?”

Kazuki snapped back to reality as Monsuta stomped upon the ground.

“Hmm, oh what was it, you asked me what this statue does. Hold on a moment.”

Kazuki added one last inscription to the human statue before activating it. The statue’s eyes began to glow before it began to slowly twirl. It danced with short and small movements and moved less than a turtles pace. If Kazuki made it move any faster, he feared the pressure of this world’s power would crush it and reduce it to dust.

Seeing the statue dancing in a funny way, Monsuta threw its head back and roared in excitement.

*RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!*

This roar shook Kauzki to the core and he could feel his chest vibrating. At the same time, Kauzki could swear he was hearing laughter from Monsuta’s soul.

(Looks like he likes the dance moves.)

After the statue did the moonwalk, Monsuta’s eyes seemed to light up as it actually tried to mimic these movements. The dinosaur was quite uncoordinated when it came to such things but still, it tried and tried while laughing in its soul.

Kazuki began carving a new statue. This time he used his aura instead of his hands. He found he could get even more intricate detail as he felt the boulder with his soul and not just his hands. His speed was also much faster this way. What took him a dozen or so seconds, with his hands could be completed in just under 2 seconds.

This time instead of carving a statue that looked something like him, he made thousands of objects out of this boulder. Some objects were tools and others were buildings in various different forms. He also crafted and carved several different species he knew of.

“Monsuta, do you recognize any of these things or any of these creatures?”

Kazuki purposely created tools out of the boulder. He made some as basic as possible and others more advanced. Tools were the foundation of development when it came to intelligence, at least that was Kazuki’s opinion. If Monsuta recognized even a single tool, that would give Kauzki a better idea of what was going on around him.

Monsuta looked over all of the objects and got close to one in particular. Sweeping past the creatures and buildings, Monsuta narrowed in on a single tool.

“I think I’ve seen this one before.”

With a thought, Monsuta lifted the tool with his aura. Turns out the tool he lifted was a hammer.

“Good, that’s called a hammer where I’m from. It’s a multi-purpose tool. It can be used to forge items or build different things. It’s something many civilizations use to build their societies.”

Monsuta shook its large head.

“The way those little creatures used it was not for making things nor for building them as you say. Instead, they used them only to destroy others.”

Kazuki nodded.

“Yes hammers can be used for good things but destruction is also another purpose and use they have. You say some small creatures used them to destroy, can you tell me where these creatures are and what they look like?”

Monsuta shook his head.

“Little creature, you don’t want to go anywhere near them. Even though those creatures are small like you, they aren’t weak as you are. Some of them are so strong that even I fear them and I stay away. Those things are no good. They even kill some of their own or even put things around the weaker ones’ necks and make them do all kinds of things like carry heavy objects or other harsh things. If you got here you will definitely be killed if they are merciful. If not, you will also have one of those things put on your neck and be stuck under them forever. Those weird things on the neck are scary things. I once accidentally stepped on one and it got caught on my leg. When that happened for some reason I could no longer use my magic properly. If I didn’t have my sharp teeth and bite it off, I would have been in some real trouble.”

(Monsuta’s talking about slavery I’m sure. By his words, these beings are capturing or killing their rivals and making them slaves. The things around the necks must be some type of collar that cancels out or interferes with one’s magic.)

Kazuki was reminded of Garn’s floating island, the sky prison where he and Nunully were sent. In that place, he was chained up with something that sounded similar.

(What Monsuta is describing does sound dangerous and extremely risky but it’s my only lead. If there are intelligent creatures, I may be able to barter with them and get enough materials to make a janky Vajra ship. Maybe even make a weak glider. I just need something to get me off world. Once I’m in space I can open up Chaotic space and gather enough Chaotic energy to return and find some clues about Codex and Arc.)

The moment he thought about Arc and Codex, that same blinding pain struck him and he fell to his knees in agony.
