Danny and the others all looked at one another. Asuna grew curious as well and asked.
“Ryuta is this true, Retsu promised a reward?”
Kazuki nodded.
“Tha’s right and nows the time for payment.”
Danny though was suspicious right away.
“What reward could this guy give exactly. It’s not like he has pockets right and he doesn’t seem to have a storage tool either. What could he possibly give besides hot air? Ryuta, don’t tell me you were scammed.”
Retsu cranked his head back in laughter.
“Hahaha, this little one truly has a mouth that doesn’t stop. Right, you want to know what Ryuta squeezed out of me…”
Zetsu twitched nearby and Retsu remembered his true purpose in coming here and was interrupted.
“Ah, that’s right before we take care of that, let me finish my mission.”
Danny was complaining at Kazuki but Kazuki was distracted by Retsu’s words and he felt his stomach turn.
(What I squeezed out of him, damn this bug needs to work on his communication.”
Kazuki stepped forward.
“You’ve already captured him, what more do you need to do?”
Retsu’s eyes began to glow and Kimi slammed her eyes shut on instinct. Sam had to grab her shoulder for her to realize everything was ok.
“I have to return him of course. Thankfully the fog in this cave will aid me greatly.”
The fog that had vanished into the cave once more appeared from nowhere. Instead of filling the entire area and wrapping everyone up within it, the greyish purple fog moved with purpose and collected behind Retsu. As his eyes became brighter and brighter, the fog swirled clockwise and began to condense.
The fog compacted tighter and tighter, the thickness of which became dense until a slight mist formed but it wasn’t finished with that. Retsu’s antenna began to sway in the air and power collected at the tips. Waving his antenna in a set pattern, combined with his glowing eyes, the now greyish purple mist folded over itself and compacted again and again and again, until the mist like energy became more akin to a liquid mirror.
The wind began to blow all from within the cave. All of it was directed to this strange mirror and was pulled in its direction. Kazuki and the others watched with curiosity but soon that curiosity turned south as the wind continuously picked up. The force of the pull from the mirror grew and the liquid mirror stretched upward and outward, expanding until it was 40 feet tall and 15 feet wide in the shape of an oval. The wind was now being sucked into the mirror and the speed of which increased severalfold.
Kazuki and the others felt a pull on their body fro the force of the wind and began sliding forward from it. Kimi was about to scream when Sam grabbed her and held her in place. Something lit within Mei and Tsura’s eyes though. Feeling the pull of the wind, the two felt a rush inside themselves. Their instincts were telling them to transform and fly on this torrent of wind.
Retsu flicked his antenna in a certain direction and the pull on the others decreased rapidly until they were no longer affected by the pull. They all stopped sliding forward and some of them felt relief while Tsura and Mei both felt slight disappointment.
“Hehe, wouldn’t want you all to accidentally end up in my realm. The pressure of which would kill you all immediately.”
*Whoosh tzzzt tzzt*
As the wind continued to flow into the liquid mirror small snaps and sparks of electricity lit up around the outside of the greyish purple mirror.
*Tzzzt crack tzzt*
The small sparks quickly became large arch’s of lightning. Cracking off of the cave wall, the lightning shot out all over the place, causing small explosion to boom as it crashed between the wall and the mirror.
*Boom crack boom*
Before things got too dangerous, again, Retsu waved and flicked his antenna in a certain pattern and just like that, the lightning fully encircled the large mirror.
Kazuki and the others couldn’t help gathering tightly together, the fear of lightning was no joke.
Retsu laughed at them.
“Hehe, do not fear, in this cave I now control everything. Look my realm is coming into focus.”
Retsu’s words rang true. Inside the liquid mirror, the greyish purple energy seemed to fold onto itself and the reflection of a strange room came into view. Inside of it, a large humanoid figure nearly 10 feet tall sat on something similar to a green throne. The sight of this creature both stunned and terrified most of the people in the cave.
The tall creature had four arms at his side similar to a centipede. At first glance, it seemed an armor of some sort adorned his body but observing closer it seemed to be a shell reflecting a dark sheen. It was like a beetle’s hard outside. Its face was angular and it had four eyes similar to a spider. With no nose of any kind or brows on its face, the sight was odd, to say the least. Not only that, as the creature stood up and approached the mirror, a large set of cicada-like wings could be seen hanging from its back.
This creature barely shared anything in common with a person but the fact that it wore clothes and stood upright made it seem as though it were intelligent like a human. The strange bug man stood in front of the mirror for a moment before its mouth slightly parted. Inside, sharp jagged teeth aligned its mouth.
“urhgrugehu”
The creature said something incomprehensible but Retsu waved his antenna and the voice of the one on the other side changed and Kazuki and the rest started to hear a language they could understand from the humanoid’s mouth.
“My son, the results?”
Retsu grinned and dragged Zetsu’s limp body in front of the liquid mirror.
“Clan head, as you can see, I have captured brother.”
Hearing these words from Retsu’s mouth, Kazuki and the others were left with mouths agape, they were stunned.
Danny shouted by accident.
“Brother, he said Zetsu is his brother!”
The humanoid bug in the mirror cranked his head at an odd angle and observed Danny and the others.
“These are, your pets?”
Retsu shook his head.
“No father, er I mean clan head. These humans and the other one are slightly stronger than the average on this world and they actually lent me their assistance. Without there help, I would have failed.”
The so-called clan head on the other side found it hard to believe but he trusted his son.
“Hmm, I suppose a reward is in order then. Ok, you will all enter this realm and serve my clan for 100 years.”
Kazuki and the other’s eyes went wide. Tsura put Mei behind her and Kimi and Danny both backed away in fear. Kazuki was about to go off on this so-called clan head when Retsu took a step forward.
“Actually clan head I have already promised them a reward and was just about to give it to them after I returned Brother back to our realm.”
The clan head nodded.
“Good, you really are the good son. Let me hear it, what reward did you offer them? If it’s not to serve our clan I don’t understand what else it could be.”
Kazuki rolled his eyes.
(The father is even worse than the son. He thinks us serving him is a reward, this mother fucker is a dense one.)
Retsu shook his head.
“These humans have their own life and wouldn’t want to serve our clan.”
“Hmm, wouldn’t want to you say. Are they that ignorant of our god clan? Who wouldn’t want to serve a god clan?”
“Clan head, this realm is their home. So although it may be glory for humans in our realm to serve us, in this realm its different. In this realm they already have several of their own gods, I think? Besides that, although their strength is above average in this world, in our realm they would be crushed immediately from the pressure. Their bodies cannot compare to the humans who already serve our clan. Not only that, I’ve also found that most of them can only live for about 100 years, their lifespans are so short here. I’m afraid even if their bodies could somehow manage in our realm, they wouldn’t even live a fifth of the time as the other humans who serve our clan.”
The Clan head scoffed.
“Hmpf, such weaklings. I almost forgot that you and your brother had entered a lower realm. He truly is a fool.”
Retsu nodded in agreement but he didn’t exactly agree with his father. Zetsu was no fool, had Kazuki and the rest not come along, there was a high probability that Zetsu would have regained some of his true power and tunneled to another realm. One in which a weakened Retsu would not have been able to follow and would have had to return home in failure. Retsu knew all of this but found it difficult to tell his father all of this right now, especially in front of outsiders. Retsu quickly went back to the reward.
“Clan head, you wished to hear about the reward I promised them, hehehe. Father, I got quite the deal.”
The Clan head squinted at his son and an invisible pressure flooded out and swept over Retsu along with Kazuki and the others. Retsu gulped hard realizing his mistake. Kazuki and the others though found it hard to breathe.
(Again I called him father.)
“Forgive me Clan head.”
*Haa*
“Forget it, tell me, what reward did you promise.”
The pressure around everyone dissipated and Retsu relaxed a little feeling his father’s power pull back. Kazuki and the others gasped heavily a sensation of lightheadedness spread over them before fading away.
(What the fuck was that! Was that from that bug?)
Kazuki and the others began to feel like sardines cramed in this cave and all they wanted to do now was leave. Retsu sensed their unease and hurried up with his explanation.
“Clan head, the promise was simple, the terms were to simply increase the strength of their soul.”
The clan head wondered why his son was so confident but once he heard the reward even he couldn’t help but smile.
(In order for a few mortals to assist my son they only wanted that, fools.)
The clan head smiled from ear to ear.
“Hehehe, a bargain indeed my boy!”
