Everyone’s attention was directed to the large rising cloud of snow but just as quickly as it shot upward in a column it just as quickly fell back to the ground below and began to clear up the area. A cool breeze blew past and a shadowy figure could just barely be made out. Another few seconds passed and the wind picked up, blowing everything away. Standing in a crater, someone stepped out of it and looked down at an object.
Kazuki, Muteki and everyone else was beyond confused. A tall woman over 6 ft with tanned skin, long silver hair and blood-red eyes, stood at the edge of the crater. She seemed to completely ignore their presence and focus on a ring on her finger or rather a small glowing arrow that hovered above it. Focusing on it intently, she watched the direction the arrow pointed in and it glowed brighter and as she moved the ring around in a certain direction, the light of the arrow would increase or decrease.
Muteki and the others stared at her curiously before Muteki looked back at his crew as if to say, is this for real.
“Abura, I didn’t feel any magic when she landed, which element does she use?”
Muteki pointed a question at Abura and Abura gladly smelled in the woman’s direction.
*Sniff sniff*
A second later, Abura’s nose scrunched up oddly.
“Well, what type of magic does she use?”
Abura shook his head.
“I can’t smell any magic coming from her, she doesn’t use any elements.”
Everyone heard this and again they looked both stunned and confused.
Byki got annoyed at Abura.
“Bah! what in the 7 realms of hell are you spouting you fat ass? If that woman can’t use magic then how do you explain that landing? Her legs should’ve been crushed under her own force. Are you trying to tell me she’s just human, has your fat brain rotted to that extent?”
Muteki held up a hand in front of Byki to stop him from speaking anymore. He had never know Abura to lie to him. Out of everyone in his group, only Abura couldn’t lie, that’s just the way his child-like mind worked.
“It doesn’t matter. She is suspicious though, prepare to fight just in case.”
Varia stepped forward and pouted.
“Honey it’s just one woman why do we need to be so cautious?”
Muteki didn’t understand it himself but ever since the woman landed, all of the hairs on the back of his neck stood erect and something deep inside was strangling his instincts. It was warning him to flee and flee now. Muteki had seen many things and been to many places and he had only felt this feeling twice in his life. The first time was when he argued with Garn long ago before he became King.
Garn had simply reached out a hand and grabbed at the empty air. Muteki was about to laugh at that time but the very next moment he felt a power surge toward him and it pressed his entire body into the ground nearly crushing him to death. The second time was during a joint battle between Garn and a powerful Mage named Bozek. The two joined forces early on to push back Azirian’s from the east. Like a blazing inferno of death, Bozek’s strength was incredible and he used the same elements as Muteki. The way he wielded his power was something Muteki couldn’t believe. His flames got so hot that the ground itself would melt into a lake of lava and the air alone could melt one’s lungs.
Both of those times Muteki felt as though death were upon him but now, once again, that same feeling was churning his insides uncomfortably. Still, looking at her and hearing she had no magic, Muteki was starting to second guess himself. He was just about to call out when Abura added something.
“Boss.”
“Hmm, is there something else?”
Muteki didn’t know why but he felt nervous to hear Abura’s next words and indeed, they were unpleasant.
“Boss, for some reason, she doesn’t smell like us?”
“What does that mean?”
Abura shook his head and pointed at him and the others before he himself grew weary.
“We all have certain smells that come from us. Mostly I smell the mana seeping from your skin but my nose is the best in the whole wide world and I can smell many other things. You, me, everyone here, we all smell alive.”
Abura then pointed at the newly arrived woman and gulped loudly. NOt from his everlasting hunger but instead because he was feeling afraid.
“Everyone here smells alive…everyone except her.”
Varia and the others thought Abura was just making stuff up now but Muteki took another glance at the tall woman and tried to measure her abilities but found he couldn’t read her. Finally, he decided this unease couldn’t go on and took a step forward. He knew nothing about this new arrival but thought it best to not offend her just in case.
“Stranger, I don’t know who you are bu…”
The woman held up a hand to silence Muteki. She studied the direction of the arrow and followed it with her eyes. It pointed to a young-looking man bound and tied on the ground. She didn’t recognize the face but she wasn’t discouraged as her queen told her beforehand that the face may be different.
She looked past Muteki and spoke up.
“Oy, you lying over there. Are you perchance Kazuki?”
Kazuki was silent as he searched his memories to try and match with this woman’s face but no matter how hard he thought, he couldn’t recall ever meeting such a woman. The woman became annoyed with Kazuki’s silence but she knew he had to be her target. The ring on her finger was gifted to her by her queen and she had absolute faith in her. If the ring pointed at the young man then that was him even if it wasn’t.
The woman took a step forward and Varia and the others scowled at her.
“This stupid bitch can’t she see that honey was talking to her and yet she not only ignored you but started asking our prisoners questions, hmph.”
Varia punched her hands with her gauntlets releasing a metal clang and took a step forward, as did the other squad members. Only Abura and Muteki remained where they were.
Muteki grabbed Varia and pulled her back in anger before yelling at her and his men.
“Don’t you fucking move! None of you take another step forward or I’ll bury you myself, got it!”
Varia looked up at Muteki and felt a chill run down her spine, she had never before seen Muteki so furious and serious before. Not even when he battled on the edge of life did she see him so upset. His squad members as well didn’t know why he was so upset but they did as told and remained still. Muteki pulled Varia behind him and spoke even louder, this time addressing the tall tan woman.
“Woman, I don’t know who you are or why you’ve come but this is a matter of King Garn.”
Muteki pulled out the golden medallion which showed his authority and it shined as it reflected the light from the sun.
“This gives me the authority to do what I want but I can’t say the same for you. State your business now otherwise…”
Muteki didn’t finish his sentence because he didn’t know himself what otherwise was. His squad though thought he was just being vague with threats and just assumed he was talking about murdering her if she dared interfered. A few of them began to chuckle at her for being so foolish as to interfere and wondered what she would do next but surprisingly, the woman tilted her head for but a moment before she smiled with a toothy grin.
“Oh, you wish to know my name. My name is Reya and I serve queen Fera.”
She then pointed at Kazuki.
“That young man there has something that no longer belongs to him and I’ve come to claim it. So kindly move away why I complete my business.”
Muteki’s squad membres grew furious at the woman’s complete lack of disrespect and two of them charged at her. Muteki wanted to stop them but it was already too late. The woman looked at the tow in confusion briefly and wondered if she had said or done something incorrectly. The moment she felt their blood lust though, a fiendish smile crept onto her face and she moved.
*Fwoosh*
The two men that rushed her froze on the spot and two blood-soaked fists emerged out of their backs simultaneously. The woman lifted the two men up who had yet to fully die before throwing them away like rag dolls. Her strength was monstorous. The two men flew far away as though they were arrows released from a crossbow. The two men collided into nearby trees and their bodies exploded on contact. A rain of fleshy bloody meat chunks mixed with fragments of bone came down around those trees like someone had taken a human-sized sack full of blood and popped it on the trees. There was only meat paste left.
The woman took both of her fists and began to lick them all over as though the men’s blood was a tasty treat. She lapped up every bit of blood on her arms until they were clean. Everyone watched her do this and was frozen to their spot. Finally, when she was done she realized where she was and looked at the medallion in Muteki’s hand with a bit of greed.
“I don’t know what that piece of metal is but you say it allows you to do what you want. I want it then.”
*Fwoosh*
Once again the woman disappeared with insane speed and only after images followed her. She reappeared in front of Muteki and held out her hand.
“Give it to me.”
