Degra as well lost his cool and grabbed Kazuki by his shirt.

“What in the 7 realms of hell was that!? you nearly gave me a heart attack!”

Kazuki looked at Degra’s hands and then glared at him before Degra came back to his senses and released Kazuki.

“Nev…Nevermind.”

He then took the medicine from Kazuki and handed it to Triska.

“As you can see, my friend is an idiot but this medicine absolutely isn’t harmful. Can we do this and settle things between us or is there something more you’d like to accuse me of?”

Triska ignored his words and stared at the vial deeply for a silent moment. Finally, she gently poured a small amount into her sister’s mouth, waited for a few seconds more before giving her the rest. The medicine with down smoothly without a hitch.

Kazuki extended his ki and could sense a warmth spreading throughout the young woman until eventually, that warmth spread all the way to her head. A moment later.

*mmm*

A faint groan followed by a few flutters of eyelashes and her eyelids slowly opened. The young woman stared up at the unfamiliar face in front of her, wondering what was going on. The last thing she remembered was her eyes being healed and then she tried to search for the one who helped her in the library. After a diligent search and no clues, the woman finally gave up and thanked her mysterious savior in her heart. Leaving the library, she met her bodyguards at the entrance and they made their way back home, on the way though a large red headed man appeared from nowhere and her vision went dark. This was the last she could recall.

She remembered being so excited to see what her sister looked like and show off her healed eyes but she never made it home. Now she awoke in a strange, cold, and unfamiliar place. In the arms of some woman covered in blood.

For some reason, even though the woman that held her in her arms had blood all over her with cracked armor here and there and was clearly a warrior, this woman treated her very gently and held a soft and caring expression.

Triska’s eyes started to fill with tears and her voice trembled.

“Sister, are you alright?”

The young woman in Triska’s arms heard that word. [Sister]

As soon as that word was spoken, the young woman recognized the voice immediately. She couldn’t help but extend a hand upward and caress Triska’s face. It was the same feeling she’s felt hundreds no thousands of times throughout her life. This was her elder sister Triska. Seeing her with her healed eyes, the young woman smiled at Triska and whispered.

“Sister, your face is so beautiful. So this is what you look like.”

Triska was completely thrown off from this and stammered back.

“You…You can see me!?”

Triska’s sister nodded slowly before recounting what had happened in the library.

“So some stranger just came and healed you out of nowhere. How many years…How many experts did we receive and yet none could do nothing for you but some random master appeared out of nowhere and cured you. This man, we must find him and thank him.”

Triska’s siter shook her head.

“I don’t think that man wishes to be found. Why else would he disappear into thin air without revealing his name nor asking for a reward? I believe the man must be some sort of traveling saint. On the road looking for insight into the heavens, it’s the only thing that makes sense. What do you think big sis.”

Triska mumbled under her breath in thought but she as well couldn’t come up with a reasonable explanation.

During this whole conversation, Kazuki was fidgeting a bit. Maybe he felt shy or rather annoyed that he didn’t get the credit.

(Had I known this girl was Triska’s sister, hmph, maybe I would have kidnapped her myself. Wouldn’t I and the others have gotten away long ago if we had Triska’s weakness earlier on…Shit, why am I thinking like that bastard Degra? That’s something a low life would do.)

Kazuki looked over at Degra and saw that he was relaxed as can be with a smug look on his face that said, aren’t I awesome. I planned this all out and came out on top. At least that’s the vibe Kazuki was getting from him. The more he watched Degra the more pissed he felt.

(If he had Triska’s sister this entire time, why wait until the last desperate moment to reveal this card. The number of times I could have died through all of this shit and he’s standing around with that dumb look upon his face.)

Kazuki felt his hand ball up into a fist by itself. At this time, Mei walked over and grabbed Kazuki’s sleeve before tugging it a few times. Kazuki looked down at her.

“Big bro.”

“Hmm, what is it Mei Mei?”

*Grrraarr*

A loud rumble came from Mei’s stomach and she held it with concern.

“Big bro, I’m hungry.”

Kazuki let out a soft sigh and his ring shined before an apple appeared in his hand.

“Have this for now and when we get back we’ll have something delicious to eat.”

Kazuki tossed the apple to Mei and she caught it gleefuly.

“Really really!”

Kazuki rubbed her head gently.

“Yes so settle with that for the time being.”

Mei jumped up and down happily before she began eating the apple with little rabbit-like bites.

At the same time, Triska’s sister was finding out what was going on from her sister but her attention was grabbed by a familiar voice. She focused in on it and saw a young man with red hair talking with a small child before giving her an apple to eat. The two’s actions seemed completely out of place on a battlefield which drew the woman’s attention further. Her ears perked up listening to his voice until it all fell into place and her body jolted as she recalled.

(This voice, this inflection. That man giving that child an apple, that’s him, it’s definitely him. The man who gave me my vision. I only heard him speak that single time in the library but I have never forgotten a voice in my entire life. That man is my savior.)

The young woman stared at Kazuki and Kazuki turned back around and the two’s eyes met and locked with one another.

(This woman, why is she staring at me so intently. Don’t tell me she recognizes me, that shouldn’t be though.)

The young woman didn’t look away for even a moment before she grabbed her sister’s arm and pointed at Kazuki.

“Triska, that man over there, is e one of your men.”

Triska’s eyes followed along and when she saw that her sister was pointing at Kazuki, her expression twisted in anger. The pain in her janked up hand flooded back to her as the fight between the two was only a few minutes old.

“That bastard…That bastard.”

Triska didn’t really know what to say. Her sister was pretty sheltered and she didn’t want to tell her that that man was responsible for ruining her hand. That would only lead to more questions such as why did she let him live which only led to more and more questions.

Triska gnashed her teeth.

“That man is of no concern, forget his face for we will never see such a  fiend ever again.”

Triska held her younger sister by the waist and flew up into the sky. She glared hatefully at Kazuki before she faced Degra. Mixed emotions swarmed her at the moment but a deal was a deal.

“From henceforth, Degra the snake and I are no longer enemies but that does in no way make us friends. There will only be two parties within Gentis city, his and mine. Those that oppose us face only death.”

Triska then turned and flew away at high speed with her sister, until the two swiftly disappeared into the distance.

The subordinates that Degra’s men had disarmed and captured, felt bitter in their guts. Even up to this point, Triska simply used them and threw them away before going off with her sister, leaving them all behind. The soldiers as well felt they didn’t really have a choice. Many may have wanted to join Triska but with her leaving just like that, it was unwise to choose opposite Degra when Triska was no longer here.

Degra on the other hand was forcefully holding back wild laughter. He had shown enough of his embarrassing side in front of everyone here as well as many of his great points. As it stood he wanted the people here to remember the good points more than the bad. After all, it wasn’t a good idea to start off ruling half of a city with rumors of foolishness. Degra the snake would be Degra the laughing hyena or something even more contemptuous.

At this moment, Degra stood tall and decided to start things off right showing his best side.

“Castion!”

Castion who was minding his own business turned a bit sour hearing his name being called.

(He’s just won and he’s already calling upon me. What ridiculous orders will he give me.)

Castion started to make his way toward Degra, a feeling of doubt about his future when Degra waved him to stop. Castion was confused.

(Did he not want something? Is this some mind game he’s playing at? Trying to make me look like a fool.)

To his surprise though, Degra commanded.

“Castion, you shall lead the way back to the city. Everyone, follow him!”

Castion’s eyes widened in astonishment, not expecting this at all.

(It wasn’t a trick.)

Castion paused for a moment before he recollected himself and turned around with his horse. Making his way to the front, he called out.

“Men! Follow me!”
